Operation BBQ Relief - Hurricane Ian Response

Operation BBQ Relief

On April 5, our loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend Darren Gang passed away suddenly. Our hearts are broken. It's hard to sum up everything Darren meant to us. Above all else, he was kind, loyal, and always had a good Dad joke up his sleeve. He could fill a room with laughter like nobody else. He loved his family more than anything. Anyone who stopped to talk to him knows the first thing out of his mouth would be about his wife, Stacey, or his four kids: Alyssa, Jason, Kimberly and Barbara. Kimberly and Barbara will be graduating high school this spring and starting college in the fall.

To help our family get through this trying time, we would appreciate donations from anyone able and willing to give.

Please note that the only sources of donations are this GoFundMe, or you can send out a check to Stacey Gang mailed to:

Stacey Gang c/o
Jordan D. *THIS IS THE ONLY LEGIT GO FUND ME FOR JEREMI ROBERT'S EX-WIFE ON THE SHOW TODAY.*
"Jeremi's plea for a home."

JEREMI'S STORY (posted early 2020 when show aired):
I was a devoted wife and mother for 40 years. Years that we spent living very carefully to save for our golden years, clipping coupons, and budgeting more than the average person with our income so that we would have a nice Nest Egg when we retired. However, without my knowledge, my now ex-husband wasted ALL of our retirement Nest Egg (close to 1 million) on day trading, without telling me about the losses until it was all gone and we were deep in credit card debt.

Then he took up with Nigerian scams and related romance scams, and I found myself newly-divorced, penniless, and starting over at close to 70 years old. I'm now in my seventies and with the grace of God, I have been able up until now, to work 40 hours a week standing on my feet as a cashier trying to make ends meet.

However, when I can no longer work I do not know how I will survive, as my social security is a bare minimum. I am already having greater and greater difficulty meeting my full-time schedule. Meanwhile, my ex continues to send thousands of dollars to what he believes are young rich beautiful women who are going to marry him and turn over a fortune to him. And he says he is doing it all for me!

When Jill & I realized my ex was endangering himself by sleeping outside to have more money to send to these women, we made a last-ditch effort to wake him up to what he was doing. We hoped that seeing the patterns of the lies of the scammers who are taking his money all lined up together would make him realize he needs to change his behavior.

When it became obvious that he was not going to listen or change at all, people suggested a GoFundMe.

If I could buy a modest house I could hope to survive my last years without facing life on the streets. So here is my plea. My ex-husband's stubborn determination to continue his irrational behavior, combined with rapidly rising rents, greedy landlords and increased regulations on qualifying for apartments are creating a situation that will eventually result in my having to, at an advanced age, resort to living in my car.

Please help me get a modest house so that I can live out my last years with a roof over my head. For those that feel moved to contribute or help I am deeply humbled and grateful and I am blown away by the generosity of others. I thank the Lord for this incredible opportunity to tell my story and hope that it will change others' lives as well. Note that I have modified my location to protect some very private people.

Sincerely, Jeremi

We need your help to rebuild The York Theatre!

After our successful efforts to save the West Bank Café and Birdland, me ,Tim Guinee, and Michael D'Angora are calling on you to rally once more to help another beloved New York arts institution through this year.

As if the pandemic wasn’t enough, a separate disaster has befallen our treasured York Theatre Company: a flood caused by a city water main break on January 4, 2021.

The York was biding its time through the shutdown in a fiscally responsible manner, waiting to produce their first post-pandemic live performance when a flood unexpectedly devastated their home, destroying much in its wake and forcing them to fully move out of their theater and office spaces for the first time in 30 years. We cannot lose such a nurturing source of creativity when there is finally light at the end of the tunnel from this past year. Let’s make sure the York can reopen live and in person in a space they can call their own!

Like so many in our community, Jim Morgan and The York Theatre helped give us our start in this industry and is very near and dear to our hearts. The York is also the only theatre in New York City dedicated to developing and fully producing new musicals and preserving notable shows from the past. For over five decades, the York’s intimate imaginative style of producing both new and classic musicals has resulted in critical acclaim and recognition from artists and audiences alike, all while launching the careers of new musical theatre creators and providing a home for distinguished writers to reexamine their work.

Even while homeless, the York has maintained its online presence, but they need our help to raise money to remake a physical home. We are honored and humbled to be able to help this iconic theater get through this puddle in the road so they can continue to do what they do best … BRING MUSICALS TO LIFE!

Thank You!

Help Us Rebuild The York Theatre!

My mother, Hyun Jung Grant( maiden name Kim), was one of the victims of the shootings in Atlanta, Georgia at Gold Spa. This is something that should never happen to anyone. She was a single mother who dedicated her whole life to providing for my brother and I. It is only my brother and I in the United States. The rest of my family is in South Korea and are unable to come. She was one of my best friends and the strongest influence on who we are today. Losing her has put a new lens on my eyes on the amount of hate that exists in our world. As much as I want to grieve and process the reality that she is gone, I have a younger brother to take care of and matters to resolve as a result of this tragedy. Frankly, I have no time to grieve for long. I will need to figure out the living situation for my brother and I for the next few months, possibly year. As of now I have been advised to move out of my current home within the end of March to save money and find a new place to live. My biggest priority right now is to put my mother to rest and plan out the funeral but due to some legal complications, I am unable to obtain my mother's body. I don't think I'll be able to figure out this whole situation along with legal matters if given 2 weeks to move out. Any donation will be used as funds for basic living necessities for my brother and I such as food, bills, and other expenses. I wish to stay in my current home for at least one more month to sort everything out. Any amount would be forever appreciated. Please everyone just stay safe and check up on your friends and loved ones that may feel endangered.

In memory of HyunJungKim to support my brother & I

And typos!).

Hey, guys,

My name is Evan Fowler. I am/was a comedian, event host, and MC in Atlanta, GA. Live events. All of my work involves basically taking large groups of drunk yuppies, stuffing them into as tight and cramped a space as possible, and then trying to keep them vaguely entertained so that they don't turn on each other. This is the grand unspoken secret of all live entertainment, really. Obviously, none of that is possible anymore. Therefore, as you can imagine, 2020 has completely ruined me. I mean, I was already poor (I mean, about half of stand-up gigs pay in literal chicken), but this horrible, nightmarish year has left me a single baby-step away from homelessness.

Even if they hadn't cancelled all live events from March-till-forever, I still would've had to go into long-term quarantine, because I am the sole caretaker for my elderly, disabled, diabetic, kidney-failing, heart-diseased Mother. Also, I am immuno-compromised due a near-fatal bout with genetic pancreatitis that almost killed me a few years back, necessitating the removal of 87% of my pancreas, and leaving me to recover in a hospital bed for thirteen months. Yep, good times. Anyways, I mention all of this just to be clear that I literally cannot leave this quarantine until it is safe (unless the CDC eviction moratorium expires, in which case, I guess we'll just die?). So, when they passed the CARES ACT, and because I am a gig worker, I signed up immediately. The $600 expansion was a godsend (not to mention, to a lesser extent, the 1200). It kept the rent paid, let us buy groceries, and cover all of the bills without having to fear... well... exactly what happened when the money ran out. See, without the expansion, I get $150 a week in PUA unemployment. That's it. We have no savings. We have no family to borrow from. Gig workers aren't even eligible for state UI. The expansion expired and we hit a wall.

Immediately, we had to cut groceries in half, because I didn't know when they'd pass the next relief package, so I had to save for as much rent as possible. That's when the hunger started. Groceries are more expensive when you order them anyway, right? So, half the groceries at twice the price. Great. That lasted just long enough for us to get kind of used to one meal a day, then it was either cut it in half again or stop paying bills. $150 a week doesn't last remotely as long as Republican Senators seem to believe it does. Or was it the $1200 that I was supposed to budget to last the rest of the year? Regardless, things just got thinner and thinner (almost a pun! Get it? Because we're starving. Ah, starvation puns, the last handhold to sanity for the malnourished comedian) until we had to stop paying rent and submit the CDC form to our apartment complex. They're still demanding money, but I'm almost comically incapable of doing anything to get it for them. I can't leave! It's insane.

You know, the thing that really kills me, that makes my vision cloud with hopelessness, is that I've spent most of this year listening to people tell me that they will not let me go over a cliff. That's all I've heard from politicians this year. "Don't worry. It's not your fault. We got this. We won't let it happen." They just say it and say it, like some kind of Orwellian mantra, while the cliff gets closer and closer. Then we go off the cliff. Know what's beneath the cliff? More cliffs. Deeper cliffs. First it was the expiration of the 600 that they said they wouldn't let expire. It expired. Then Trump did his weird executive order thing and we got a little boost, but that only served to pay the rent for a month and give us another couple of weeks of 1/4 groceries. This was the beginning of a relentless series of missed deadlines, continued false promises, and exhortations of helplessness. Following it closely has been one of the most harrowing, gut-wrenching things I have ever experienced in my life. And remember, this is coming from a man who LITERALLY had his guts ripped out. This was worse than that, because this isn't just happening to me. At the same time that I'm going through this, we've had to watch in abject horror as hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans die horribly. Even worse, we've had to watch the whole thing turn political and then watch the tragically misinformed arrogantly march directly into the jaws of death. It feels like a horror movie. Not to mention the acute personal fear of that fate for my Mom and I. It's basically my worst fear, at this point. Dying alone in a hospital bed, in a plastic room, unable to see loved ones, surrounded by nurses in spacesuits whose faces I cannot see. If someone were to devise the worse death for us, they would make this year.

It's a truly terrible thing to dangle over ruin for a year only to finally be dropped. And all of it for no good reason. That's where we are, though. Did I mention that they're turning off the $150 next week? Yep. We're going to be literally penniless for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then, when we're literally starving, we will be evicted. I don't know what to do. We have nowhere to go. We have nothing to appeal to. The stimulus was everything. EVERYTHING. It's not just me either. More than half of my friends and co-workers are in the same position. None of us know what to do. Luckily for them, though, they don't have the same kind of responsibilities and added dangers I do. For my Mom and I, January 1st feels like an execution date. It's like we've been sentenced to the death penalty just for the crime of being Americans.

To be clear, I get why we're here. I understand that the HEROES ACT passed the House months and months and months ago. I understand the "reasons" for it not passing and I've followed the stimulus negotiations close enough to realize why they're going nowhere. I get it, but what's going to happen to us? Here's a question that seems simple enough to me: if nothing passes until the new year and the CDC moratorium expires Jan 1st, with all of us having depleted the laughably inadequate $150-200 weekly checks that we've all been trying and failing to live on, and 30 million people are suddenly homeless and starving on the streets in the middle of winter/pandemic/flu season, then won't that make the virus about a thousand times worse? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of "holding out to crush the virus"? Do they even realize how bad this is going to be?

So, I guess, my other question is, do you know what I should do? Where should we turn now? I'm feeling more and more like a cornered animal (not gonna bite people, don't worry) and I just truly don't know what to do. I watch your show all the time and you and your staff are clearly much smarter than I, so I put the question to you. What do we now?

Any and all advice would be eternally appreciated.

Thank you,

Evan Fowler

Save the Evan Fowlers

On the evening of May 25th, 2020, George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis Police. Thousands of people have come to the street to protest and make their voices heard. Following the beautiful peaceful protests, riots overtook the city and the Lake Street Corridor:a beacon for multiculturalism, black and brown entrepreneurship and the rise of family owned businesses. Much is lost.

We have received a tidal wave of love and support from across the nation and many have asked how they can help. Thanks to the support we have received and an impending insurance claim, we feel funds would be better directed to our sister businesses in distress. Therefore, Du Nord is establishing this fund to support black and brown companies affected by the riots. In the coming days we will add to the leadership team to bring in more business owners and community leaders. We are dedicated to rebuilding Minneapolis in a way that ensures our cultural beacons are restored.

No purchase, payment, or contribution is necessary to enter or win and will not improve chances of winning. Void where prohibited. Entries must be received by July 8, 2020. Enter by contributing here or email [email redacted] and put “Du Nord Riot Recovery Fund” in the subject line to enter without contributing. 1 winner will receive the following prize package: a hand-drawn map of the United States drawn and autographed by Al Franken (approx. retail value $3,000). Odds depend on number of entries received. Promotion open only to U.S. citizens, or lawful permanent U.S. residents who are legal residents of 50 United States, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and 18 or older (or age of majority under applicable law). “No matter how much I say I love you, I always love you more than that.” –unknown Our mom, Mai Lee, was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2014. She bravely endured a mastectomy and multiple rounds of chemo. The chemo, while successful in ridding her body of the breast cancer, left her with debilitating symptoms. In September 2015, we thought we were on the other side of cancer treatment. The breast cancer was gone. For one glorious week, we were overjoyed and felt we could finally breathe. The breast cancer was gone. However, a week later, our mom was diagnosed with a second cancer. This time it was colorectal cancer which had already metastasized to her liver and lungs. This was considered stage 4 cancer. Our family came together; we went to the Mayo Clinic for an aggressive surgery to remove half of her liver and a large section of her intestines. She started a new chemo treatment for the colorectal cancer a month later. We’re telling you all this, not to make you sad, but to let you know how hard she’s fought cancer. She has endured and fought through many painful surgeries, multiple chemo treatments, and emergency room visits. Almost five years after initially being diagnosed, her team of doctors have said they are not able to treat her cancer anymore. So, friends and family, brothers and sisters near and far. We are asking for your donation, big or small. Anything helps. Your gift will give our mom the opportunity to live her remaining days without the stress and worry of how to pay for past medical care as well as give her the opportunity and means to enjoy whatever time we are blessed to have her for. She is the most tenacious, funny, intelligent, loving and wonderful person I know. She’s worked so hard all her life. Thank you all. We love you and couldn’t have done any of this without your continued love and support.

Love & Prayers: Mai Lee Continues To Fight Cancer

Boles. Pictured above is her great granddaughter Tatum Sarver overlooking her favorite spot on her grandmother's mountain. As most of you know, Gatlinburg wildfire's have wreaked havoc and destroyed this beloved town. My grandmother's home and all of her possessions, were taken in the blaze. I have a goal of $5000, but I can tell you much more will be needed and appreciated. With medical bills piling from her terminal illness and Hospice Care, no way to work and very little savings, she was unable to renew the insurance on her home. The poor dear, she has nothing but the clothes or her back, some small cash, her pain medication, and a little hope. The fires tore through and took her mountain, took her home, her vehicles, precious pictures, everything. A lifetime of memories, of OUR memories. Times like these, I can only do so much from so far away. With so little time left for her, I dont want her to be taken from the one place that gives her comfort and is her heaven on this earth. Please, whatever good deed has been done for you, pay it forward. I come to ask of you, humbly and hopefully, to please help us restore what we can of what has been lost, mainly to try to restore some type of home if we can. ANY DONATION HELPS, be it monetary, acts of service, lumber, clothing, everything! Please

Charlotte is a native resident of Kentucky, but has resided in Gatlinburg some 40 years. This place is so special to my family and is our second home. She has been through so much these several years and has battled cancer and overcome cancer, just to battle it again. She has been diagnosed terminally ill and we have spent much time traveling to and from gatlinburg, throughout the years to be able to keep her comfortable and near her beloved Mt. Leconte, Laurel Falls, Cades Cove, and her other countless favorites. Mammaw has spent her lifetime as a craftsman and painter. She is a researcher and outdoorsman. She would always journal her many hikes and trail adventures and caption with photos of the beautiful flowers and trees, of the snowladen paths she would take or of the pink and orange and yellow suntreaked sunrises that lit her pathway. Although much older now and confined mostly to her home (which is now gone), some friend/family member would come along, grab her hand and a milk crate (for her to climb into their vehicle), and take her on a drive to see her beautiful mountains.

My daughter and I spent so many nights inside this home. With it's many trinkets and fabulous treasures that my grandmother had, herself, been given from other family members, or that she collected and kept in presteen condition to pass down to our generation and many more to come. Although in declining health and struggling with her balance and other medical conditions, she always made time for her little Tatum. There was always ice cream in the freezer and she always made time to take Tatum to the river and for their walks up this mountain-side.

Thank you and may I request that you share this? It would mean so much to all of us. We dont ask for help, but sometimes, its necessary. She is already dealing with her illness, let's challenge ourselves to give her a home for her comfort for the rest of her days.

Wildfire Disaster Aid for Charlotte

Heart with Sole Sewing Center

An income generating opportunity to provide ongoing funding for patients with podoconiosis.

The Virunga Volcanic Mountains rise up in the northwest corner of Rwanda and provide fertile fields for subsistence farming. But the rich and fertile soil that can nourish and grow almost anything can also bring devastation to the men and women working barefoot in the fields. The constant exposure to soils laden with silica and other soil metals can lead to a debilitating condition called podoconiosis, more commonly known in its late stages as Elephantiasis, a serious malfunction of the lymphatic system that leads to lower extremity swelling.
Those suffering from this condition become outcasts where they suffer from physical, emotional and spiritual effects of being isolated. Many have to beg on the streets to survive.
The Heart with Sole Sewing Center began as an economic empowerment income generating project to provide opportunities for those with podoconiosis. Skill development is a “hands up” method of giving which can change the lives of many young men and women afflicted with this condition, who have limited resources to provide for themselves and their families. A skilled tailor provides hands on education, skill development, and quality assurance guidelines for production of bags of all styles. The seamstress is paid by the quality piece produced, while exercising to remove fluid from their swollen legs using a treadle to power the machine – a win/win approach.
Cost of Sewing Stations = $300.00
Singer Sewing Machine
Sewing table with foot powered treadle
Sewing Kit (scissors, bobbins, thread, tape measure)
African fabrics to produce bags.
The Imidido Project is a 501C3 nonprofit organization based in Mason Texas. Please help us to change the lives of those with this disabling condition by contributing to the Heart with Sole Sewing Center.
Learn more about the Imidido Project
