The blockade has left us isolated, with limited access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, and medical care. Our children's future hangs in the balance, and every day brings new dangers.

<div>I left Gaza on October 8th, 2023 when the hostilities started hoping to reunite with family in Egypt on October 11th, 2023 the crossing was bombed, and my family lost their passports evacuating the crossing. My apartment next to Shifa Hospital was destroyed, my company next to UNRWA headquarters was destroyed, and my other apartment at my father’s house.

<div>The location where my father’s house has been an active military combat area since December 5th, my father, step-sister, and step-brother who has a disability all killed by tank shelling in the area on December 6th.

<div>I have no information on the three people who came to find shelter at my father’s house, they are a mother a daughter, and a son. The last time I knew they were alive was in early December 2023. The other daughter has been injured with no ability to be reached by paramedics bled to death on December 7th.

<div>I was lucky that my father was able to save my wife, and three daughters and transfer them to another location in Khan Younis.
</div>

<div>The remaining six families are scattered between areas in the Gaza Strip and they are bearing very harsh and challenging living conditions, they don’t have internet, electricity, or access to clean water and are prone to starvation.
</div>

</div>
<div>My wife and kids are located in a tent in Rafah, I used all my connections in Gaza to supply them with food and good and relatively safe shelter and I have failed recently to grasp any contact with them. I am just hoping that they remain safe until I can reunite with them soon.
</div>
<div>It was a hustle to reissue them new passports, since all governmental bodies are not working in Gaza, and thanks to friends in the West Bank, I was able to get them new passports and the passports are now in Egypt.
</div>

<div>I am trying to get them to safety so that I can see them again, and for that, I have contacted the Qatari, Jordanian, Japanese, US, German, and Turkish Embassies to help me list their names on the crossing and none of them was helping me, and some embassies replied that they don’t have any legal responsibility to help me in my quest.

<div>I still have one remaining option to get my family out of Gaza to pay the Egyptian coordination offices a lot of money to get them out of Gaza. The coordination fees for this paper and documents situation are 8,500 USD for every adult and 4000 USD for every child.
</div>
<div>Meaning I will need 12,000 Euros for my Kids and 8,500 USD for my wife just to get them to safety in Egypt until the war is over. The total amount requested is 20,500 Euros, and 500 Euros for processing the entry visas to Egypt, transportation, and a 2-day stay in Cairo to process their papers.
</div>

SOS_Save My Family

<font color="#333333">Hi! My name is Zaya and I am a 19 year old transgender woman of color. I have been transitioning for about a year and a half now &amp; I am nearing the end of my journey. For the past 5 months, I have been preparing myself to undergo gender reassignment surgery along with a breast augmentation. I need both of these surgeries to defeat my gender dysphoria &amp; finally be able to feel comfortable in the body I’m in. When I first reached out to a surgeon to undergo these operations, I contacted my insurance company to see if they will cover any part of these surgeries. While on the phone with insurance, the representative assured me that a transgender health package was included in my insurance plan &amp; that 80-100% of my surgery costs would be covered. I wrote this information down &amp; sent it to my surgeon’s office where they confirmed that my surgeries will be covered. Flash forward a few months &amp; my surgeries had finally been fully approved by my insurance company. I was given a quote &amp; a surgery date. Originally, I was told I would only have to pay about $3,000 out of pocket for both surgeries after insurance. We chose February 1st as the day that I would finally become my full self. I was so happy knowing that I was finally going to be free of all the dysphoria that I experience with my body &amp; it wouldn’t be a financial burden. However, a bomb was dropped. After my surgery was already scheduled &amp; planned, the surgeon’s office called me to say that there had been a “mistake” regarding my insurance. Apparently, whoever was representing my insurance policy was looking at the “wrong plan” &amp; they “never noticed” that my policy doesn’t actually include the transgender health plan. So after months of phone calls, emails, scheduling, and being told multiple times that insurance will cover my surgeries, it turns out it was all a lie. I finally had a surgery date, and then suddenly I was told my insurance will cover 0% of my surgeries. So for months my insurance had been looking at the WRONG policy, falsely leading me to believe my surgeries would be covered. I called them trying to argue against this, but they told me that there’s “nothing they can do” The only way I can get these surgeries now is if I pay for them entirely myself. I am a financially stable person, but I planned my surgery costs thinking that insurance would cover a majority of it (since that’s what I’d been told from the get go) I did not account for the fact that I could be paying for the full surgery on my own because I was told multiple times that I won’t have to. This whole thing has put a huge road block in front of my journey, and I’m feeling defeated. My situation could be worse, but I can’t keep living in the body I was born in for much longer, my mental health is deteriorating day by day due to my dysphoria. Any donation amount helps. Welcoming Sita and Agustin’s New Baby

Our house burned down on 10/24/18. My children , my husband and I lost everything we had. I thank God that he spared our lives. We could still kiss and hold our children. But what hurts so bad is that One minute we had all we needed, and the next minute it was all taken away by a fire. From the red cross, to hotel rooms, it has been a blessed but challanging time. As we begin to rebuild, We are asking for your help. We never thought something so tragic could happen to us. But in reality, these tragedies happen everyday and families are out in the world struggling to get back up. When you give with all of your heart, God rewards you abundantly. We Lost Everything

Hello Everyone!<br /><br />My name is Adolphus Mawolo.  I am a Liberian journalist, but most importantly, a friend of  Salome Karwah,  a courageous and selfless woman, Liberian Ebola fighter and TIME Person of the Year 2014 who died on Tuesday 21 February 2017 in Monrovia. She died from complications after delivery –leaving behind a few days old baby boy with her husband, James Harris.<br /><br />Salome survived Ebola in 2014, but lost nine members of her family including her parents.<br /><br />She returned to the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Ebola treatment unit where she had been treated to help other patients plagued by the virus. She worked as a psychosocial support aid. Her daily routine included telling her story of survival to patients for reassurance, caring for children who were battling with the virus –bathing them, feeding them, etc.<br /><br />On Feb. 17 Salome delivered a healthy boy, Solomon, by cesarian section. She was discharged from hospital three days later. Hours after arriving home, she lapsed into convulsions. <br /><br />She was rushed back to the hospital by her husband and her sister, but no one would touch her. <br /><br /> “They said she was an Ebola survivor,” says Josephine Manley, her sister. “They didn’t want contact with her fluids. They were afraid of her. No one would give her an injection.” Karwah died the next day. <br /><br />Her husband is now left with the burden of caring for their children –two girls and two boys.<br />Heartbroken and jobless, James Harris, needs our help to cater for the welfare –medical, education, nutrition, shelter, clothing and caretaker for his children.<br />It's against this backdrop that he has accepted for me,  to launch this fund raising project on his behalf which he hopes will generate money to help him care for his children. James, his late wife and I have been friends since working together for MSF in Monrovia during the Ebola crisis in 2014. I am seeking to raise 20,000 dollars through this campaign the next two weeks. Like our neighborhood, the school is racially, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse and has a high percentage of English-as-a-second-language learners. The majority of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Although many of the parents have limited financial resources, the school has phenomenal parent involvement and support.<br /><br /><em><strong>My 4th grade class:</strong></em><br />These students are exceptional learners with a thirst for knowledge! We are a very small progressive school with an interest in nurturing the whole child--not just the academics, but the social-emotional as well.<br /><br />Research supports our school's vision. According to the Responsive Classroom website, "In 2011, the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) conducted a meta-analysis of 213 school-based, social and emotional learning (SEL) programs involving 270,034 kindergarten through high school students. Compared to controls, SEL participants demonstrated significantly improved social and emotional skills, attitudes, behavior, and academic performance that reflected an 11-percentile-point gain in achievement."<br /><br />We have an opportunity to send 4 teachers to an Emotional Responsiveness Institute. This is a 5-day training with a 6th in-school visit and consulation. Under the lead of Castle Bridge principal Julia Zuckerman, progressive schools in our district (District 6) are teaming up to send teachers to be trained in explicit social emotional curriculum. The training begins on October 25, 2016.<br /><br />The total cost of this training for our school to attend is $5,300. Our school's 501c3 organization, Friends of Hamilton Heights School, is offering to match us if we raise half of the funds--$2650.<br /><br />Would you consider giving to this worthwhile opportunity to support our teachers and nurture our students?  We are grateful for your time and attention.
