A Life Among the Rubble: A Mother in Mourning With a completely broken heart, we created this campaign to ask for support in the midst of a tragedy that has deeply affected our family. My niece, Arantza Camargo Amundarain, a 14-year-old girl, was in her apartment on the first floor of Residencias Sol Marino Palace, on Playa Grande Avenue, La Guaira, Venezuela, when the devastating earthquakes struck on June 24. After days of anguished waiting, Arantza was found lifeless among the rubble on June 28. Arantza was a deeply loved girl, full of dreams, joy, and a whole life ahead of her. Her passing leaves an indescribable pain for her mother, her family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. In the midst of this tragedy, her mother, Osmary Amundarain, a single mother, not only lost the most precious thing in her life—her only daughter—but also lost everything materially. Her home, her belongings, and the stability she had built with so much effort were completely destroyed in a matter of seconds. Today, Osmary urgently needs support to cover Arantza’s funeral expenses and to have a minimum of economic help that will allow her to meet her basic needs while she grieves and tries to rebuild her life from scratch. We know that no amount of money can ease the pain of losing a child. However, together we can help this mother not face the financial burdens alone during one of the most devastating moments of her life. Mi sobrina Arantza Camargo Amundarain, una niña de 14 años, se encontraba en su apartamento, en el primer piso de Residencias Sol Marino Palace, en la avenida Playa Grande, La Guaira, Venezuela, cuando ocurrieron los devastadores terremotos del 24 de junio. Tras días de angustiosa espera, Arantza fue hallada sin vida entre los escombros el 28 de junio. Arantza era una niña profundamente amada, llena de sueños, alegría y una vida entera por delante. Su partida deja un dolor imposible de describir para su madre, su familia y todas las personas que tuvimos el privilegio de conocerla. En medio de esta tragedia, su madre, Osmary Amundarain, madre soltera, no solo perdió lo más valioso de su vida —su única hija— sino que también lo perdió todo materialmente. Su hogar, sus pertenencias y la estabilidad que había construido con tanto esfuerzo quedaron completamente destruidos en cuestión de segundos. Hoy, Osmary necesita apoyo urgente para poder cubrir los gastos funerarios de Arantza y contar con un mínimo de ayuda económica que le permita atender sus necesidades básicas mientras atraviesa su duelo e intenta reconstruir su vida desde cero. Sabemos que ningún recurso económico puede aliviar el dolor de perder a una hija. Sin embargo, juntos podemos ayudar a que esta madre no tenga que enfrentar sola las cargas económicas en uno de los momentos más devastadores de su vida.
