<div>Hi I’m Ellie, and on the 12th April 2026 I’m doing a skydive to raise money for my Dad’s charity, Johnnie’s Journey. This is the first time someone in our family has taken on an event like this, and it means everything to me.

<div>My Dad started Johnnie’s Journey after his second cancer diagnosis. He’s raised tens of thousands for causes like food banks and supporting people/families affected by all kinds of challenges. Watching him do all of this while living with cancer has been incredible and inspiring.
</div>

<div>Seeing my Dad go through all this has been incredibly difficult. Our family has faced so much loss, we lost both my Grandparents to cancer in 2014 and 2022. Seeing Dad cope with his own battles while grieving has shown me what true strength looks like. Even with everything, he still continues to make a difference for others. Our family has faced other challenges too, with my stepmum being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, who is now thankfully in remission. Life has thrown a lot at us but it has also taught us to fight for what really matters and to always support those in need.

<div>At Johnnie’s Journey we’re a small team, but we do everything we can to reach as many people as possible. Life is short, and we only get one chance to try and make a difference. That’s what my Dad has always believed, and that’s what we’ll keep doing for as long as his health allows.

<div>So now it’s my turn! I’ll be jumping out of a plane to raise money for Johnnie’s Journey, honoring my Dad and his incredible work. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and allows us to continue doing what we do, helping those in need.

Skydiving to Honour My Dad & Support Johnnie’s Journey

<div>Sophie is an identical twin and has been battling Wilms Tumour since she was 10 years old. She is now 16 and has encountered a series of unfortunate events with her treatments. She was cured after her first treatment but relapsed to her back muscle because of the biopsy. She was due to have surgery to her back but this was cancelled in April 2020 because of covid. Meaning she relapsed again in December 2021, she sadly relapsed again in May 2022 whilst on treatment. She has relapsed again to the same area but the NHS can’t offer much hope and there’s not any promising clinical trials available at this time. So it would be palliative chemo to buy time, which wouldn’t give her much quality of life.

<div>We have reached out to a few different medical facilities around the world and have been told of a very promising procedure that would still be curative for Sophie. We haven’t been given a final figure so have set our target at their ball park figure until we finalise the costs.

Help us save our wee girls life

<div>This will be Johnnie's Journey fifth annual foodbank drive at Christmas. With each year we do this the number of people requiring support from these resources increases, and is now at alarming levels. One of the most eye opening stats is East Lothian alone has seen a 21% increase in demand since just last year. In 2023 April-September there was 128,490 emergency food parcels handed out in Scotland. Emergency essentials were given out in East Lothian to 6,634 people, 2,383 of those were children. You might be thinking that this shouldn't be a thing in 2024, and you are right. People should be living free from hardship and poverty. Sadly without the resource thousands would go hungry. Until the UK &amp; Scottish governments do more, these numbers will continue to rise.

<div>For those of you who don't know me, my name is Johnnie Meechan, I'm 47 and married with 5 kids. The short version is I have been fighting incurable Neuroendocrine Cancer of the liver &amp; duodenum for 8 years now. It's the second time I've had cancer in my life. The first time was a bone cancer that cost me a leg. I decided when diagnosed that if my lights were to go out sooner than expected, I would go out raising as much NET cancer awareness as possible whilst helping others in need. I started Johnnie's Journey and have since helped many fellow cancer patients, people in need and some wonderful worthy causes.

<div>Everything donated via GoFundMe is used on the day of delivery (23rd Dec). We do a large cash &amp; carry run, gathering as many urgent items as possible. We then distribute everything around the Foodbank &amp; Community Groups. All the recipients do similar work, helping those who are struggling to afford food.
