Last February, we took on a daily cold plunge challenge — not just for the thrill, but with purpose: to raise funds and awareness for The Dugout Drop-In Centre Society, a grassroots charity serving Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Through icy water and community support, we exceeded our fundraising goal and helped bring warmth and support to people who need it most. This year, we’re back for Freeeezebruary 2026 — and we’re raising the bar! From February 1–28, we’ll be plunging into cold waters every single day to keep the momentum going and help The Dugout continue providing free meals, resources, and a safe, welcoming space for people facing homelessness and food insecurity. Why the daily cold dips? Because it’s more than a challenge — it’s a reminder that discomfort can build empathy. While we endure minutes in icy water, many in our community endure hardship day after day. We choose to step into the cold to shine a light on that reality and invite others to show support.
