<div>In 2007, Craig's world turned upside-down. A physician noticed changes in his appearance and urged him to get an MRI. He was diagnosed with Acromegaly, which is a tumor on the pituitary gland. It causes the pituitary gland to produce too much growth hormone and a multitude of other problems. Craig spent several months preparing for surgery and sold his beloved business to pay for medical expenses. Although recovery was difficult, the surgery was successful. Until 15 years later, when Craig’s symptoms returned. <strong>The last time Craig faced surgery, he had a partner and financial resources from the business he sold. This time he is alone and without financial assistance.</strong>

Coming together for Craig

<p>Tristan Alva was an amazingly creative artist, animator,  sculptor, musician, songwriter, and person overall, who attended Orange County School of the Arts for 7th-12th grade. This award will be given in his name to digital media students who exhibit his extraordinary creativity and passion, but more importantly, his empathy, compassion, kindness, generosity, and love for all things and people.

<p>On May 26th 1999, Tristan Becker Alva was born. As soon as he could hold a pen, he began drawing on anything he could get his hands on. Anything creative became his passion in life. He played piano, guitar, bass, was a lead in his 6th grade school play as Mike TV, wrote his own music, wrote poetry, sang, made home made movies on his computer and also had his art featured in the Indy film, "Dear Mr. Watterson", which was a tribute to the creator of Calvin and Hobbes, his favorite comic.

<p>In 6th grade he auditioned for OCSA, as this was his dream school. He began 7th grade at Orange County School of the Arts in the Visual Arts conservatory. In 8th grade he applied for the Digital Arts conservatory because he wanted to "bring his drawings to life".  He was accepted and studied Digital Media, focusing on animation for the next four years.

<p>His senior year Tristan applied to several colleges and was accepted to the very best school in the country for animation. California Institute of the Arts accepted him into their "experimental animation" department- he was one of 12 students in the country accepted. At CalArts he was able to use professional equipment and made many experimental animations. He was living his dream life. He had many friends, played in a band, and got to truly express his creativity. His work was truly unique.

<p>Tristan had one semester left at CalArts and was going to receive his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in December 2021. However, he passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2021 at the age of 22. Our family is devastated by our loss and heartbroken beyond words. This will not be the end of his story or his impact on the lives of so many.

<p>We know Tristan would love for another student to be honored in his name. Someone who studies Digital Media and animation at OCSA, and who is also kind and compassionate and will continue to influence the world through art and creation.

<p>This fundraiser is to help support our close queer friend in Indonesia who is recently homeless because their family locked them in their room and threatened to subject them to conversion therapy. Plum is a bright and kind student who is pursuing their education and career in the arts. Your support will ensure that they are able to find housing, a job, and start school. Here is their personal story:<br /><br />"Hi, My name is plum, im 20 and I have become homeless due to covid-19 and run away from being locked up at home after coming out as gay. I just finished my study in Japan on april 2020 and came back to Yogyakarta, Indonesia on July, but it seems like my sister didnt like the way I look and she told my parent about it (my parent lives in different city called Makassar). then my mom phoned me and angry about it and ask me to go back to Makassar, I was scared so I decided to run away from Yogyakarta to a city called Bandung. after I got into Bandung, I decided to come out as gay to my mom with expectation of being accepted in family. I thought it went well at first, but it wasnt. somehow my parent find out that I ran away to Bandung and come to the city from makassar to bring me back. they got me, and I couldnt do anything, they took my phone, and I had been locked up at home and cannot even communicate to my close friends. also I have a lot of mental breakdown because they thought it is disease and they called priest to do an exorcist to me to let go the demons out of me. I was really scared and depressed so I ran away with just bringing my ID. Now I live far away from friends and without cellphone, I go to Internet cafe to contact my friends, and been living on a street since the day I ran away (25th september 2020). I was looking a shelter for lgbtq and found one in Bali but they were unable to help. Im trying to go back to Yogyakarta and find a safe place to live and find work. Also I hope I could get into art institute next year for undergraduate study. any amount you can donate would be life-saving, so I can find a secure place to stay."<br /><br />Per GoFundMe protocol and for your own reassurance, we are disclosing the following information:<br /><br />1. Produce packing workers and other agricultural workers are Essential; food production does not stop for a global pandemic. These workers often toil in shoulder-to-shoulder working conditions to provide Washington State, and the world, with apples, cherries, pears and other fresh produce. Without hazard pay and safe working conditions, they are unfairly risking their lives, the lives of their families, and the lives of their communities to provide us with sustenance. </strong><br /><br /><strong>Workers are demanding respect and recognition of the risks they are taking to ensure that an essential component of our food-supply-chain does not disintegrate. What we can’t source for free, we purchase. We do this until we have enough supply to hold a Hygiene Hello! Kit Build where we assemble over 200 hygiene kits to go out to unhoused folks throughout Los Angeles county. Builds occur every ~6 weeks.

<div><strong>Supplies for Unhoused Neighbors: </strong>This group isn’t based in just one neighborhood, so between those of us that live in The Valley and those of us that live in Palms or Echo Park, we cover a lot of ground. Many of us engage in consistent outreach to our unhoused neighbors, which often means distributing food, clothing, socks and shoes and supplies like tents, tarps, towels, blankets and pillows, most of which we source for free. Similar to the hygiene kits, we purchase what we aren’t able to source and funds raised here go toward that.

Workers will be withholding final grades until administration meets demands for a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), amounting to a $1,412 increase per month to all graduate students, regardless of residence, visa, documentation, employment, or funding status. <br /><br />The UCSC chancellor makes over $400,000 a year [1] AND receives a $6,500 housing stipend per month, meanwhile graduate students have to live in one of the most expensive cities in the country [2] on less than $25k a year. <br /><br />Lend your support to striking grad students as they organize for better conditions for educators, students, and workers everywhere!<br /><br />NO COLA, NO GRADES! Tons of medical workers are still struggle on the front line , the day and night.</strong> <br /><br />Facing the current shortage of medical consumables, Wuhan University Alumni Association of Greater New York has obtained official contacts and approvals with Hubei Charity Federation, the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York, China Eastern Airlines, and major medical consumable manufacturers worldwide. <br /><br />Overseas payment methods are now being opened, and all-out efforts are being made to open overseas material transportation and fundraising channels. Help Wuhan Fight through Coronavirus

<p>QTPoC couple seeks assistance for emergency car fund!<br /><br />On the way home from a trip the weekend before Thanksgiving, our beloved family car, Scooter, suddenly started losing power in the last 10 miles of our drive home. A trip to the mechanic revealed a blown engine, oil flooded spark plugs, and a hole in a piston. :( <br /><br />The engine is unrepairable, and the cost to replace the engine is much higher than the value of the car, so Scooter is effectively dead. We unfortunately still owe money on Scooter and are now tasked with finding a "new" (to us) car. <br /><br />If you live in Southern California, you know how essential reliable transportation is. Jasmine works in the OC and is currently learning to drive, carpooling with coworkers that live close-by as a temporary solution. Cam works in DTLA and relies on the car to make extra income and to also go to therapy. <br /><br />We would be super appreciative if we could get any help with the following goals:<br /><strong>- Pay off remaining balance on Scooter: $3,000</strong><br /><strong>- Get down payment for Scooter Jr (actual name TBD): $2000 </strong><br /><br />Jasmine's driving test is on December 30th, so having this mostly sorted by then would alleviate a lot of the added stress.<br /><br />We know it's the holiday season, so funds are tight everywhere, but if you aren't able to donate, sharing this page would still be incredibly helpful!

I am a trans woman living in texas. My home life is one i cant transition in or be safe in, and the need to get on hormones grows everyday, and its toll on my mental health grows as well. My future is uncertain if i do come out to a very controlling, conservative catholic family. <br /><br />a baseline of $1000 is enough to cover rent for a month wherever i run to, And its all i need to get a foothold in a new city. the additional $500 is for whatever small emergency or necessary funds i need, be it food or gas. <br /><br />I dont have a specific date for when ill fully need the money.
