Hello, everyone. My name is Thaina Dorlus. I'm doing this GoFundMe for my family so we can fight through this difficult situation. My family is currently facing one of the most overwhelming and frightening challenges we have ever experienced. We are at risk of losing our home—not because of something we did wrong, but because of a series of mistakes and injustices caused by our homeowners insurance company and others involved in our claim. After Hurricane Ida, our home suffered damage that required repairs. Like many families, we turned to our insurance company for help, trusting that they would support us during a time of need. Unfortunately, that trust was broken. Due to a mix-up involving my father and my uncle—who share the same first and last name—our claim was mishandled from the beginning. Important documents and payments were sent to the wrong address, and despite our repeated efforts to correct the issue through phone calls and follow-ups, the situation was never properly fixed. As a result, a portion of our home remains damaged to this day. What makes this situation even more devastating is that a company called High End Services has now filed a lawsuit against us for a payment we never received from the insurance company. We were blindsided by this legal action and were not given a fair opportunity to explain our side or resolve the issue beforehand. Now, we are being forced into a legal battle that threatens to take away the very home we have worked so hard to maintain and protect. My father is an immigrant who has always done his best to provide for our family, but navigating the legal and insurance systems here has been incredibly difficult for him. He relied on a public adjuster—someone who was supposed to advocate on our behalf—but instead, we feel that he was taken advantage of during an already vulnerable time. The stress, confusion, and fear this has caused our family are beyond words. We want to fight this, but the legal costs required to defend ourselves are more than we can afford. We are asking for help so that we can have a fair chance to stand up for ourselves in court and protect our home. Every dollar raised will go directly toward legal fees and expenses related to defending our case. This isn’t just about a lawsuit—it’s about fairness, dignity, and keeping a roof over our heads. We are asking for support from anyone who is willing to help us during this incredibly difficult time. No contribution is too small, and even sharing our story can make a difference. My father has 4 younger kids that’s to young to be putting through talk this, two of them that’s only 8 and 6 years old,  while writing this story I thought of them this whole time.
