<div>Chris and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read about what we’re currently going through. As many of you know, we’re pretty private, and we are reaching out because we are in need of your prayers, your support, and any help you can give — whether that’s sharing our story or donating. Though we don’t like to ask for help, we’re currently facing something right now that has left us feeling overwhelmed and financially burdened.

<div>In early April, Chris visited our primary care doctor due to an unexplained weight loss of 60 pounds over the past year and a half. At the time, we assumed the weight loss was related to work stress and poor eating habits. There were also a few occasions where we thought he might have had Norovirus, as he experienced episodes of nausea and vomiting.

<div>Our doctor ordered lab work to look further, but unfortunately, we ran into some insurance issues and had to push back our appointment. Before we could get the labs done, that’s when Chris began experiencing severe abdominal pain one night. He initially tried to sleep it off, but by the next day (04/24/2025), we decided he needed to go to the ER because the pain was intolerable. After running labs and imaging, doctors found a large mass (about one foot in length), and he was admitted to the hospital.

<div>Chris spent a week hospitalized as we anxiously awaited answers. Right now, we still don’t know if the mass is benign or malignant, and while we’re holding on to hope and praying for good news, the uncertainty has been incredibly difficult. Doctors here in Las Vegas don’t have answers for us and it has been over a month. They have recommended that we seek further evaluation and treatment out of state. Chris was then referred to UCLA to see if they could diagnose him, which is over 200 miles away from home.

<div>Seeking treatment in California presents an unexpected financial burden. We anticipate traveling back and forth for additional tests, potential treatments to shrink or remove the mass, and most likely surgery. If Chris ends up needing an extended stay in California, I’ll become the sole provider for us and our two fur babies. This fund will help cover medical costs, transportation between Las Vegas and California so I could support Chris, lodging, doggy daycare while I’m away, and any other shared expenses that come up during this difficult time.

Help Us Honor Chris and Give Him a Loving Farewell

<div>As some of you know, Makala was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Hearing those words turned her entire world, and ours upside down. This has been one of the hardest moments we have had to face, but if you know Makala, you know her strength, her warmth, her positivity, and the light she brings into every space she walks into. She is the kind of person who pours love into everyone around her, even on her hardest days. Makala always shows up for everyone around her and we would like to take the opportunity to have people show up for her.

<div>Now she is preparing to start an intense treatment journey. During this time, she will be unable to work, which means she will have no income while facing some of the most overwhelming challenges of her life. As Makala goes on this journey she still has the responsibility of raising her young son and providing for him and herself. Cancer doesn’t pause the bills, the responsibilities, or the daily needs that keep life moving.

<div>On top of this, Makala also hopes to preserve the possibility of having more children in the future. Because chemotherapy can significantly impact fertility, she is trying to pursue fertility preservation options before treatment begins. These procedures are extremely expensive and, unfortunately, not easily accessible in Alaska, often requiring travel and additional medical costs.

<div>We are asking for support in any amount to help lift some of this burden off her shoulders so she can focus on healing. Every donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference. Support Makala’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

<div>Hi, my name is Laura. I first met Liana as a Clover Bud in 4-H. Liana has always been a great friend and an inspiring individual. I am creating this fundraiser to help Liana and her beautiful daughter, Christina McCormick, during this challenging time of unforeseen life changes.

<div>Joseph McCormick (Some of you may have known him as Nuckolls) was a loving father, husband, and friend. Joseph served in the United States Army for nine years. He struggled with PTSD, which began around a year after his honorable discharge in June 2021.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On September 29th, 2023, Joseph took his own life. Joseph's family and friends had no idea how much Joseph genuinely struggled. His loss has left everyone reeling, trying to process and pick up the pieces.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>His wife, Liana McCormick, and seven-month-old daughter, Christina Grace McCormick, meant the world to Joseph.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our priority now is to help Liana and Christina get back on their feet. Liana is doing her best to reach out to every resource available. Still, it is a slow process with tons of paperwork and can not happen soon enough. The VA is backed up for six months to a year; all other options require time and diligence.
</div>

</div>
<div>We are trying to pull together one year of coverage and would like to offset the funeral and service costs; we want Liana to have space to grieve, and it's nearly impossible to do that while tangling with the VA and trying to make ends meet.
</div>

</div>
<div>In the US today, it is estimated that an average of 22 veterans commit suicide each day. PTSD is a severe epidemic and deserves to be taken seriously. Awareness and education is the best tool in combating this battle that families face daily. We are devastated by the loss of Joseph. He will be deeply missed by many.
</div>

Baxter went to the vet when the assault happened and then again on September 14th and will have to be seen again. Baxter has to be on 3 types of medication due to how badly he was beat. He is constantly in pain and uncomfortable. Our poor sweet boy will have to wait a long time to recover from what these horrible people did to him. The cost so far the both visits is already 1200 this assault has not only physically and mentally damaged my brother’s dog but has also cost us a lot of money and a lot of sadness and anger. We really appreciate anybody who can help or share this story for us. We will continue to update Baxter’s healing process along the way.
