Hey Friends, My name is Shanda, and I am one of Ioanna's close friends here in San Diego. It's with a sad heart that I tell you Ioanna's mom passed away this morning. Ioanna is currently on a flight out to Greece to be with her sister and to arrange for the funeral. As you know Ioanna is very close with her mom. Her death was unexpected. She was admitted to the hosipital last night with a blockage to her heart. Unfortunately, they realized that there was not much they could do. She was made comfortable and was able to pass peacefully surounded by her family.  As always Ioanna is strong and handling everything as best she can.  I know in times like these we all wish there was something we could do. For the time being I think the best way we can all help is to send her your thoughts and prayers over email and to possibly help financially for funeral arrangements, flights, ect.  Thoughtfully yours,  Shanda

Memorial for Ioanna's Mom

In the spring of my freshman year in high school I suffered a pretty devastating concussion during a soccer game. I lost my memory for several hours but improved with time! During the fall season of that same year I experienced my first seizure. I've had them ever since and doctors have had trouble resolving them. I've had extensive testing, ER visits, and hospital stays, however these events are still not under control. As a current freshman in college, I am responsible for myself most of the time. Walking to class alone can be dangerous for me as I can sometimes fall out very unexpectadly, like when crossing the street or climbing stairs. A service dog would tremendously help me in regaining my indepence and in giving myself and my parents peace of mind while I'm away. My family and I greatly appreciate any donations made towards our effort. Thank you so much!

Jefferson Peñafiel is a 16 year old young man who is almost completely blind. In spite of this limitation he is one of the most polite and cheerful people you'll ever meet. Jefferson loves to swim and even though he's never had access to a swimming pool he has become a very strong swimmer by practicing in the river near his hometown of Cuellaje, Ecuador. He has been invited to an international competition for the visually impaired in Denver, CO in the U.S. in June. Unfortunately his family does not have the resources to pay for the trip. I know the people of Cotacachi and everyone else viewing this page are very generous with their time and money and there are many needs, but please consider making a donation that would help allow Jefferson to take advantage of this opportunity to see more of the world, make new friends, and represent his community in this event. I know Jefferson personally and he's a great kid, so I would hate for him to not be able to have this experience.  He only has a few short days to make his goal, so please make a donation today.

<a href="http://www.bikeandbuild.org">Bike &amp; Build</a> is a non-profit organization that organizes cross-country cycling trips to raise money and awareness for the affordable housing cause. 800 Miles for Affordable Housing

Hi everyone!   These two great brothers, Zach &amp; Bryce Cueto, are riding their bicycles across America to help raise awareness for a rare blood disorder similar to cancer called Aplastic Anemia. Their  younger sister has been ill with this rare condition for 3 years and just underwent a type of chemo to help her fight for a full recovery.  Zach &amp; Bryce left Florida and plan to ride all the way to California and back again to Florida. They will be traveling on their bikes for 2 months.  We made this website by request of many who are asking how they can help. I am seeking support to purchase a recumbent tricycle (trike) so that I can participate in the 2015 BRAG. BRAG stands for Bike ride Across Georgia. Specialty cycles like recumbent trikes are expensive. A quality trike can cost thousands of dollars, and I have spent the last three months researching the one that will best fit my needs for touring. I need a trike that can live up to the demands of the 2015 BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia). I have secured a traveling companion to accompany me on this week long trek across Georgia, and we are looking forward to participating in this annual event. The cost of the trike, taxes, add-ons for safety, and the GoFundMe fees total around $3,900. I am asking for your support because I know this venture of independence is contagious.
