Gender-affirming Surgery

<div>Hello everyone. As most of you know on 07/12/2023 I was involved in a vehicle accident where I was t-boned by someone who ran a red light while on my way to work. Although my vehicle is totaled I am thankful that I was able to walk away from that accident. I am bruised and broken but the pain is a reminder that I am still alive. Due to the accident, I was rushed to the hospital and received trauma care. I had to miss work and am having to miss more work for surgery I will be having to repair my hand. Unfortunately, when it comes to work I do not have much sick leave as I had to use it when I had COVID and although I’ve accumulated some leave I will not have enough to cover my wages for bills that are coming up at the beginning of this next month. The driver of the vehicle that hit me is insured but that claim will take some time to process as to why I am asking for help. I am not one to usually ask for handouts. I am usually the one helping fundraise for others but I thought I would try this as I am in need at this time. I appreciate any help. Thank you very very much  ❤️

He has been diagnosed with rapid severe hip degeneration in BOTH HIPS, requiring immediate double hip replacement surgery.

Losing work, turning down gigs, the cost of medical equipment, combined with the associated recovery expenses are overwhelming.

<div>Our family was devastated on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 when Dad (Tommy Cardwell) fell at home with a stroke. After calling 911 and being rushed to UNMH he was Medilifted to St Joseph's hospital in Phoenix,  Arizona.  He has suffered 2 strokes, a heartattack, 3 blood clots, covid and a few minor set backs on this journey.

<div>Sadly,  Dad passed away on December 10th, 2022. He received his dying wish and passed in New Mexico,  just inside Gallup.  Services have not been planned,  but will be updated here for those wanting/able to attend.

Memorial Fund for Jon Baran’s Family

<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">A year ago Jon was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer. It had taken over the right side of his pelvis and hip socket. </span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">He quickly got to MD Anderson in Houston and had surgery to remove the tumor and replace his pelvis with a metal prosthesis. The surgery was a success, and Jon was on the road to recovery. He worked hard with rehab and exercise, and had gotten to the point of walking without assistance. </span>

<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">In March he started feeling more pain, and when he went in for his routine scans, they found the tumor had returned. </span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">It is localized in the same area, and has not spread anywhere else. Things have been moving very fast, and as soon as we found it, he got back to MD Anderson in Houston. They quickly decided on a course of action to get this. We’re bringing out the nukes. </span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">Chemo to shrink the White Whale</span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">Then surgery to cut it out. </span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">And finally chemo to make sure we got it all. </span>

<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">He started treatment at MD Anderson, and will have to go back and forth while receiving treatment. He will be home for recovery, and we are going to be in for a wild ride the next few months. </span>

<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">We aren't sure what he'll need yet. </span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">He will not be working through treatment, and I will be by his side getting him strong for the next cycle. </span>

<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">We kinda just have to wait and see how he's doing. I'm going to work on getting the house as comfy as possible, getting nutrition info, stocking up on good foods, and finding the best activities to get him happy and full. We are going to want to surround him with people and good vibes as much as we can to get him as healthy as he can be before he has to go back for the next round.</span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">We are going to have a heavy burden with Jon unable to work, we need to focus on healing and getting Jon through surgery and recovery. I am his primary caregiver, and am not able to work outside the home, to stay germ free. </span>
</p>
<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">We have relied on the generosity and help of others throughout this journey, and need help to get through this. We are estimating our basic expenses for six months. Cancer treatments involve many associated costs (travel, food, home accommodations, etc.) </span>

Lili has just had brain surgery. She has made it through the surgery successfully and is now resting and healing. We are looking for financial support to help with her medical bills, rehab gear, and lost wages. Her recovery from surgery will take some time. Lili’s Care and Recovery Fund

On October 31st Mark was at work, and his chest started to hurt, and was having a hard time breathing, and also as he said he had a heavy work load.  So he chose to drive himself to Maple Grove North Memorial Hospital from work which was in Uptown.  When he arrived at the hospital they rushed him right in and did an EKG instantly, and found that he was indeed having a heart attack.  They then did a chest X-ray, and found a lot of problems with his lungs as well as the heart attack.  Then at that time they told him they would be transferring him by ambulance to North Memorial in robbinsdale once they were able to get him stabilized, and the ambulance would arrive.  Once he got to Robbinsdale they brought him right to the ICU and before they did the angioplasty they told him he most likely would not have heart surgery because it happens to 1 in 100. Once they did the angioplasty they found that he had 99% blockage in his back left artery and some blockage in to smaller artery’s.  At that time they had him in ICU flat and calm, because the surgeon had already done 3 open heart surgeries, and wanted to be fresh when he did Marks surgery Saturday morning, and if he were to have any chest pains they could lose him instantly.  They had him in surgery Saturday morning at 6:00am and did a triple bypass open heart surgery and also found some emphysema in his lungs which is why he they had him lay flat and on a ventilator for 24 hours while very heavy sedated.  At this time he also had a very irregular heartbeat.  Sunday afternoon they took the ventilator out and he woke up.  His irregular heart rate did not improve so they have kept him in the hospital until Sunday November 8.   <br /><br /> Mark will be out of work for at least 3 months if not longer, he just recently started a new job where he has not been there long enough to get any type of benefits.  This also means he does not have any type of income at the time.  So we are asking for donations to help the family out with everyday needs, bills, and medical appointments.
