<div>Emma, Junior’s wife, recently contacted Manford’s to share some very difficult news. Following a series of strokes, Junior has been diagnosed with vascular dementia and has had to retire from performing and writing.

<div>There will be a fundraising gig in due course, but if there’s one thing the comedy circuit has always done brilliantly, it’s look after its own. Junior has given so much to this industry over the years. Now it’s our turn to show up for him and his family.

<div>my name is Susan and I'm part of the UK's stand up comedy community. One of our best loved comedians STEVE HARRIS has been having a terrible time over the last few months battling with alcohol addiction, mental health issues and the vicim of crime. All of this has resulted in him having a mini stroke and being unable to work or do gigs. Although his flat is paid off he owes service charges which may result in him losing his flat which would obviously be a disaster and a possible slippery slope as he's just about starting to get himself back to health. A little bit over that for private therapy would obviously also be beneficial. Steve is one of the most loved people in our community, obviously a bit bat-shit but who isn't in the comedy world. Give what you can and let's get him back on his feet, sober with a roof over his head.

<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-weight:700;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;">Stu has worked with just about everyone who is big in comedy such as <i>Fred MacAulay, Bill Hicks, Lee Evans, Jo Brand, Jimmy Tingle, Nick Revell, Paul Merton, Parrot, Bruce Morton, Eddie Izzard, The Comedy Store Players, </i>and practically every good comedian who appeared at the <i>Edinburgh Fringe</i> over the years.</span>

<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-weight:700;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;">Stu hit the comedy world with a big punch in 1988 and he gave up working as a warden in a YMCA hostel for 'troubled boys' to try and make perfect strangers laugh! In the very same year, he went on to win "The Spirit of Mayfest" at Glasgow's annual Arts Festival and made his first performance on television.</span>

<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-weight:700;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;">Sadly now <i>Stu’s health has started to cause him considerable problems</i> and his ability to work and earn have dried up. If you are able to, <i>please dig deep for this man who has been a friend and mentor to many</i>, and please give whatever you can to support him and his family at this time. </span>
