<div>My name is Sarah Rosset, and I am asking for help on behalf of Michael “Mike” Compton—an elderly man whose life unraveled after the devastating loss of his wife. Mike recently lost his wife to breast cancer. They were married for 30 years and together for more than 40. She was his partner, his support system, and the person who helped him manage every part of their life together. Losing her shattered him. After her passing, Mike experienced severe grief and emotional distress and spent a short period in a  health facility to receive care and stabilization. While he was away and unable to protect his property, his situation rapidly declined due to circumstances beyond his control.

<div> Mike and his wife owned two small homes side by side. They lived in one and rented the other—the rental income was their only source of income. While Mike was receiving treatment, squatters moved into both homes. They refused to pay rent, caused extensive damage, and left behind overwhelming destruction. By the time they were removed, the homes were no longer safe or livable.

<div> Mike is an artist, and much of his original artwork and collected pieces—items that held deep emotional meaning and a connection to his late wife—were destroyed or stolen. The home he once kept clean and cared for is now unrecognizable. Anyone who knew Mike before this can attest that this is not how he lived.

<div> Today, Mike is facing:
</div>
<div> •	A threatened county tax lien
</div>
<div> •	Past-due property taxes due by February 1st, putting him at risk of foreclosure
</div>
<div> •	One home still occupied without rent being paid
</div>
<div> •	Serious back and chronic pain issues
</div>
<div> •	No physical or financial ability to manage cleanup, repairs, or legal processes alone

<div>When we found Mike, he was living in a dilapidated trailer with no proper heat, no refrigerator, and a bed he physically could not get into. He was cold, exhausted, grieving, and declining.

<div> My husband Justin and I stepped in because no one should be left like this. We have temporarily moved Mike into an RV on our property so he has a safe, warm place to sleep. We are volunteering all of our time and labor completely free of charge to clean, secure, and repair his homes. Mike has no way to pay us for our labor. We just want to see Mike back in the home he and his wife shared for all these years.

<div>That said, this job is far bigger than two people can handle alone. We are asking the community for help—both financial support and/or volunteer hands. Whether it’s helping haul debris, clean, secure property, or simply lend a few hours, every bit of help matters.
