<div>It is with a heavy heart the Huertas family comes together to ask for your help. Early last month, Raul was rushed to the ER for extreme abdominal pain. What seemed like an innocent ailment for Raul turned out to be a severe acute pancreatitis. After a month of tests, treatment plans, and pain for one of the strongest men, Dad was called to his eternal home in heaven on June 5th. He was surrounded with an immediate love from family, the same love he selflessly gave.

In Memory of Raul: Support for the Huertas Family

My name is Natalie Huertas, and it's really hard to talk about myself. <br /><br />The facts: I finished my 5th year of school at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. This is my 2nd institution, studying Industrial Design. I'm a first-generation student and Mexican-American. <br /><br />The story: My life has always fluctuated; positive, negative, never static. Growing up, I've had the opportunities to experience heartbreak, abuse, failure, and some mild success. Education has always been my constant. It is, and always will be, the the most important thing that has ever been given to me, even if I don't have the grades to prove it. If I want to continue my education, I can't take out anymore financial aid packages. <br /><br />This is where it gets tricky. <br /><br />My plans are to go to grad school, fall in love with design even more, and eventually get a PhD. But I'm kind of missing a step. I can't receive any more money if I plan on getting financial aid for grad school. Rules are rules, even if I don't understand them! <br /><br />I'm stuck. I'm not frivolous, and I'm an incredibly hard worker. I've worked over 13 jobs in college, been in 4 school organizations, done a little illustration on the side, have routinely immersed myself in design education and miraculously travel under insane budgets...meeting the most amazing people and having some the saddest, greatest, and most blessed experiences of my life. If I hit a wall, I tend to either break it or hobble over it. That's just how I was taught to be. If you would have asked me 3 years ago, I would have also told you that I also never give up. There has been a voice for a while that has been telling me to throw in the towel, and that my aspirations are way too out of reach. I am unable to take out a private/bank loan, get a credit card, and find a co-signer, and I'm beginning to believe that voice.<br /><br />So, enough about the sad part. I just need a little help, and I was told this was a good outlet. I think many of you who know me, this is like pulling teeth for me. But I really, REALLY, REEEEEALLLY want to make the best design possible for others. I also want to show my siblings and family that higher education is possible. I know there's some kid out there struggling and my team or my future employer can help. I knooow I can help fix some ergonomics on some of the stuff that's out already out there. I don't know where I'll end up, and I can't promise that I'll be amazing, but I know that I can make a little difference. If you can find some change, throw it over! I promise that I will make it up to you–I'll donate to the charity of your choice, draw something for you, send a thank you card, WHATEVER you'd like. I'm so very grateful that you took the time to read this. <br /><br />Okay. Thank you, love you all! :)
