<div>Bryan and his 83-year-old father spent the last decade building an incredible LEGO Star Wars collection together. Their shared passion resulted in about 780 sets and more than 1,200 minifigures, with the hope that one day, selling the collection could help pay for their grandchildren’s college. Last year, Bryan consigned the entire collection to a Mystery company so it could be sold over time. The collection was so impressive that it drew news coverage and huge crowds at the store.

<div>But in November 2024, everything changed. This Mystery company's corporate took over the store during a dispute with the franchise owner. When they seized the store, they also took control of Bryan and his father’s collection — even though it did not belong to them. According to Bryan, the company removed the identifying tags from the sets and continued selling the collection instead of returning it, claiming he could not prove ownership. Bryan and his father have tried going through authorities and legal channels, but the cost of forcing action in court could be tens of thousands of dollars, making it extremely difficult for them to fight back.

<div>My mom, Ingrid Ferreira Torres, must leave the United States by December 28th. We found out the Monday before Thanksgiving that her green card application was denied and that she has about 30 days to pack up the life she’s built here in the United States for over 30 years. She’ll leave behind me, Dad, and our two dogs, Teeny and Maya. She’ll leave behind the work friends she has and the community at her local church. If she doesn't leave in time, she won't qualify for future visas and will face the formal deportation process under the Trump administration.

<div>My mom came to the U.S. on a crewmember visa in the early 1990s and has stayed here in the States to work and help support her family. Because her visa was specifically a crewmember visa, she wasn’t eligible for a green card, a fact that our lawyers regrettably missed when they took on this case. Now, she has to leave the country.

<div>She’d have to go back to Colombia, a country she hasn’t been to in over 30 years that has changed drastically since she’s been there. As a 60-year-old woman, she’d have a lot of trouble finding work and being able to support herself. Her mom and family are in Colombia, but they don’t have a lot of money and can barely get by themselves.

<div>Please help us. This monumental life change is unfortunately very expensive. We have to buy plane tickets, get her a more permanent place to stay, and pay legal fees.
