Honor a Hero: Support the Burial of a Brave Vet

<div>My name is Marilou Bell and I worked with Pam at the Wuesthoff Reference Lab at Rockledge, Fl for several years. She has been a very dear friend and in spite of the years we have not seen each other, we have kept in constant contact. A few years ago, my husband and I moved back to Florida to retire so that Pam and I were able to renew our close friendship.

<div>During our very recent Wuesthoff Lab Reunion in April, many heard of the unhappy announcement that <strong><em>Pam Foster </em></strong>was struck with <strong>ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. </strong>ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a disease with progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain.

<div>Those who knew Pam while working in the lab can tell you she was a vibrant and very positive person who always had a smile on her face. Pam was very well liked and quite dedicated to her job and to the people she worked with. For
</div>
<div>8 years, she performed the WRL billing while working on a nursing degree. One of the many positive qualities she possesses is her empathy for others, which clearly suited her desire to be a nurse. She subsequently worked at the Wuesthoff hospital units, doctors' offices, and cared for private patients.
</div>

</div>
<div>On August 2021, Pam was diagnosed with <strong>ALS</strong>. Her disease has progressed to the point that she is unable to walk without a walker, and sometimes not walk at all. It is quite heart rending when she tells me that sometimes she has to crawl because she is unable to move her legs at all. As the disease progressess, she will eventually require medical devices to help her mobility, accommodations to her physical living condition, and most importantly, with her<strong> medical bills</strong>. Every visit to her neurologist is $380, and without good health coverage, her expenses will undoubtedly mount up. Just to let you know, government assistance has been explored but unfortunately not been granted. For privacy reasons, we cannot mention the reasons for the rejection.
</div>

Medical Help for Pamela Foster (Pam)

<div>My brother Andrew Palm and his family have dedicated their lives to serving as missionaries, but they are now in desperate need of help. On March 26, 2023, their youngest sons, Elijah and Isaiah, were involved in a devastating car accident. Isaiah, who is 14 years old, was trapped in the car and had to be cut out by emergency responders. He was found unconscious and had to be flown by helicopter to Johns Hopkins hospital.

<div>While Elijah sustained injuries but is expected to fully recover, Isaiah had serious fractures to his skull that exposed brain tissue, among other injuries. He needed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain, and a portion of his skull had to be removed to relieve pressure. He is currently in a coma with a poor prognosis.
</div>

<div>Just a few years ago, Andrew and his family were forced to return to the United States from the mission field due to Andrew's deteriorating health. A few years ago, Andrew and his family also contracted Covid, and Andrew got the worst of it. He became bedridden, requiring oxygen and frequent hospitalizations, but he continued to work remotely with a school in the mission field. Just one day before the accident, Andrew had come home from surgery to help his condition, as he was unable to walk without assistance and is still recovering.

<div>In addition to the medical and living expenses that have overwhelmed the family, Andrew is unable to work. His wife Nannette currently works two jobs to support them. This family has devoted their lives to helping others, but they are now in dire need of help themselves. Even if you cannot afford to donate, please spread the word and keep them in your prayers. Any help, no matter how small, will make a big difference in their lives.

<div>My name is Bettie and I am raising money for my friend Tiffany who is fighting for her life. I met Tiffany 6 years ago in nursing school and loved her right away. I admired so much how devoted she was to her family, especially her son Bubba.

<div>Tiffany has been through a lot in her life but she has never given up. Her husband died when Bubba was very young and she was determined to do everything that she could to give him a good life. Her dream was to become a nurse and to be able have some security her little family. While we were in nursing school, Tiffany's father died very suddenly. Tiffany and Bubba were both devastated. She wanted to keep going but when she saw that her son was struggling, she knew that she had to leave the nursing school because the demanding schedule was keeping her from meeting his needs.

<div>She kept going. She found jobs as a nursing assistant and caregiver. She has been working incredibly hard to support her son. She has also been a huge support to her mother. She always finds the time to be there for her friends and family. Tiffany doesn't have have a self-centered bone in her body.

<div>In December, Tiffany was hit by a car that ran a red light. Her leg was broken requiring surgery and her car was totaled. Last week, Tiffany started having chest pain and shortness of breath. When she got to the hospital, she was found to have a massive amount of blood clots in both of her lungs and in her leg. Treatment was started immediately, but it didn't work and her heart started to fail. Surgery became the best option. During the surgery, there were complications that led to Tiffany being placed on ECMO (heart and lung machine). In the space of hours Tiffany went from being a healthy, woman in her 30's recovering from a broken leg to being given only a small chance of survival.

<div>Tiffany's doctors are working hard to save her. There are signs that she is fighting hard. We are waiting now for her vital signs to stabilize so that she can have another procedure to relieve stress on her heart. If that happens, her odds go up tremendously. We haven't given up hope.

<div>Lindsay lost nearly everything this week in devastating fires in Boulder County, CO.
</div>

<div>On December 30th two fires spread quickly over 2,600 acres in the densely populated Louisville/Superior community.  Lindsays home was completely destroyed.<br /><br />

<div>She evacuated with the clothes on her back and her sweet pup, Dezi.  <span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">With no home, clothes, personal or household items, her immediate and long-term costs will be considerable.  Let’s rally around her as she starts from scratch in the new year.</span>
