Hello you Beautiful Human!! My name is Madeline Marinez but most call me Maddie for short. I was born and raised in The Boogie Down Bronx

I am in recovery from substance use after battling it for 14 Long years. In July of 2024 I finally Broke the chains of addiction. I created "Boots On Ground Inc." because some of my hungriest and loneliest times was during active substance use. I’ve been all over the NYC shelter system and I know the pain and struggle all too well. I am also a single mom who was a teen mom trying to make it out here with no skills or degrees. I have worn many many shoes and I’ve walked in them in this life time but I’m GRATEFUL for every experience because it brought me to who I am today . Saturday Mornings We go to the South Bronx with hot home made oatmeal, fresh croissants and a hot full breakfast. The goal right now is to help as many people as we can. To become the community We so desperately need.

I make the oatmeal and breakfast with lots of love in hopes that it can help keep someone going. Boots on ground will be working on an other projects like coat drives, clothing drives ect. LOVE ALWAYS WINS❤️WE ONLY SPREAD LOVE AROUND HERE❤️This is only the beginning THANK YOU!!

With love & gratitude always,

Help Maddie keep Boots On Ground Going

Tonight we got a call about a dog dumped at Engine 59 in Harlem.

Her name is Zoe.

Tony is heading to the vet (VEG) now to get her evaluated and stabilized. What we know right now is enough to know this is serious. Zoe has injuries consistent with prolonged trauma and likely needs stitches. We won’t know the full extent until the vets clean her wounds and keep her overnight.

Right now, she will be hospitalized for at least the next few days while we figure out what comes next.

She needs immediate medical care. And we need to be ready for whatever that looks like.

This is where your support changes everything.

Emergency intake, wound care, hospitalization, medication, and whatever treatment follows — it adds up fast. Saying yes to dogs like Zoe only happens because people step in with us.

If you can donate toward Zoe’s care, please do. If you can’t, sharing her story matters just as much.

We’ll share updates on Instagram as soon as we know more.

Hi, My name is Lyana Blount and I am the Founder/Chef/Author of Black Rican Vegan in NYC. I specialize in soul food and Puerto Rican cuisine with a vegan twist. I attend and host many pop-ups around NYC and even out of state. I started my business in 2020 during the height of the pandemic and it quickly became high in demand. Since 2020 I've been nonstop putting out menus and serving most of NYC and other states. I also have been doing countless interviews, feeding celebrities, traveling and working on a cookbook which is now available for pre-order! I did all of this in mind to provide food alternatives to my community and transform plates one at a time.

Now I'm asking for help. I have been grinding hard to make this business as successful as it is now and though I love what I do, I am burned out. I am trying to fix personal health issues and home matters and honestly, it is taking me a lot to ask for help since I've been using out-of-pocket expenses for the last 3 years. However due to food and vendor fee prices going up, I am finding it challenging to pull from the little expenses I have, I told myself for 2023 I would be more intentional about asking for help, collaborating and strategizing and I won't be able to strategize if I'm constantly in the kitchen.

I set a small goal and I am asking for help to raise money to cover expenses for the month while I take a break. I do plan on getting back to work mid-May Since we do have a couple of pop-ups already set up such as Smorgaburg and the Puerto Rican Day parade coming up.

The funds will cover the cost of the commercial kitchen space I use, It will help me make payments towards pop-ups, get inventory and pay staff. I have applied to countless amount of grants with no luck so I am hoping my community and supporters will help out so we can come back even better and continue to serve these delicious vegan dishes.

Every little count and we are super appreciative and grateful for the support.

Thank you

I'm getting Surgery and we need your help!!!

On Sunday night my whole world was turned upside down when a hit and run by a cab landed my one-year-old rescue dog, Stasia, in the hospital. Due to the injuries sustained doctors gave her a 15% chance of making it through the night. She suffered severe damage to her left lung, internal bleeding and multiple fractures in her femur. It did not look good.

When given the choice to keep going or look at other options, money was the last thing on my mind. I only thought of my baby’s strength, and the long life she has ahead of her if she gets through this trauma. And I don’t regret my decision.

Stasia certainly is Bronx strong – 2 blood transfusions, an oxygen crate, imaging of her entire body, and 48 hours of fighting for her life have led to her being declared stable. Now she’s gaining strength and gearing up for surgery to repair her broken femur. Anesthesia for a healthy dog is already a serious risk, let alone a dog in her condition. But if she’s proved anything so far it’s that she’s a fighter, and I genuinely believe that she will fight her way through this next procedure.

Throughout this whole process I’ve made the choice to not put a monetary value on Stasia’s life, but when faced with the reality of her hospital bills it was then that I realized I needed to ask for help. Asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me, but nothing about this ordeal has been natural. So I’m here swallowing my pride and asking for help; help from friends, help from family, help from dog lovers and help from kindhearted strangers.

In addition to your positive thoughts, prayers, healing energy etc. any amount of money that you can contribute to help with Stasia’s ongoing medical bills would be appreciated more than you can imagine.

Any additional money collected past the cost of her medical bills will be donated to Rescue City, the amazing foster-based rescue organization that brought Stasia into my life; first as her foster mom, then as her forever family.

If you are unable to donate at this time, please share this along! And I will update everyone as I know more about her upcoming surgery, thank you.

Stasia needs your help!

On Thursday April 25th at approximately 6:37 pm my family suffered one of, if not THE MOST traumatic moment of our lives. While walking with our 9 year old sister to the store to get the finishing pieces to our younger sisters project, our innocent baby Marilyn was struck in the head during an escalated altercation between 3 men. Before collapsing she yelled at our 9 year old sister to run but in a panic she froze. She only ran once she saw her sister collapse. She succumb to her wound and passed away. We’re asking for anything you can contribute towards her funeral and burial arrangements so she can get the proper send away she deserve. Anything left over will go towards seeking psychological help for our 9 year old who witness the traumatic ordeal.

Marilyn was 18 years old full of life and so eager for her future. She wanted to go to Farmingdale to pursue nursing and began applying for scholarships to help her pay for it. I know family always speak about how much of an angel their loved one was but our baby truly was. Yes she was a brat sometime but can anyone name a teen high schooler who isn’t? No alright then. Someone took the life of an innocent baby. She will never get to turn 19, she will never get to go prom shopping like we’ve talked about for hours at a time, she will never get to graduate high school with a regents diploma that she was working so hard for or go to college, she will never get married or have children of her own. #justiceformarilyn because she deserves nothing less.

At 7:30 AM on March 9th, 2019, a devastating fire rapidly spread through the occupied home of New York State Park Police Officer Tatiana Pena in Hicksville, NY.

Officer Pena (graduate of the 15th Session of the New York State Park Police Academy in 2018) had just started her tour of duty that morning in the NYC Zone at Riverbank State Park when she was notified of the fire. Inside the home, her 20-year old sister, and 55-year old father, Edwin Martinez, a retired NY State Trooper, had narrowly escaped the fire with their lives. Officer Pena's sister was treated and released for smoke inhalation at Nassau University Medical Center while her father was admitted to NUMC's burn unit after suffering significant burns. Unfortunately, Officer Pena's dog perished in the fast-moving blaze.

It took more than 100 firefighters from the Hicksville, Bethpage, Plainview and East Meadow Volunteer Fire Departments to bring the fire under control. By the time the blaze was extinguished, Officer Pena's house was a total loss.

The New York State Park Police is a small police agency numbering only about 275 members across New York State. What we lack in numbers, we make up for with our comradery. We are family, and family are never alone in a time of need. We are rallying to Officer Pena's side at this time of loss for her and her family, but we cannot do it alone. Officer Pena and her family need all the help any generous PBA, charitable organization, law enforcement officer, or caring person, can give. No amount is too small to help support Officer Pena and her family rebuild and reclaim their lives. Absolutely 100% of all generous donations will go directly to Officer Pena's family.

We, the members of the New York State Park Police, thank you for taking the time to read about Officer Pena's loss and for considering a donation to her and her family.

- Lt. Help NYS Park Police Officer Tatiana Pena!

             10-13...Officer needs assistance!
Officer Jeff Cerone, a nine year decorated veteran of the Town of Greenburgh Police Department In Westchester County, NY, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic defect that effects the function of the kidneys. This rare defect occurs in five people per million.
Currently, Officer Cerone is being studied on a grant at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Unfortunately due to this rare disease, and the damage that occurs to both kidneys in all patients with this defect, Officer Cerone is in dire need of a kidney transplant. This transplant is needed as soon as possible.
According to the study team at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, if Officer Cerone does not receive a donor kidney, he will most likely be put on dialysis and this, unfortunately, would end his career as a proud member of law enforcement.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We are looking for people willing and able to consider donating a kidney to Officer Cerone as both kidneys are compromised due to this extremely rare genetic defect.

THE FIRST STEP IS TAKING PART IN A DONOR SURVEY.

Officer Cerone could use the help..... He has answered the publics call for help over nine years without hesitation, now for the first time this fine officer needs the public’s help.
If you are interested in taking the FIRST STEP in helping Jeff Cerone on the road to recovery, please take time to fill out a donor survey provided by Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
Donor Inquiries can be made to Jennifer Van Beaver at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Please call (212)-305-6469.
The other way you can help is by making a donation here on gofundme.com. This would help alleviate the cost of doctor appointments, medicines, and the total cost of the surgery.

Thank You for your support!
