Help Us Build a School in Neemka, India
In March 2023, A Place for Us began as one of Alef Trust’s Conscious Community Initiatives in Neemka, Uttar Pradesh, India.
What started as a weekly, integrated, arts- and nature-based learning programme has grown into something much deeper. Today, A Place for Us supports children and teenagers living in extreme poverty by offering not only learning opportunities, but also nutritious food, basic literacy and numeracy, creative expression, tree planting, and connection with nature — all within a safe, caring space rooted in dignity and compassion.
At present, all of this happens outdoors.
While nature immersion is central to our values, the realities of Neemka’s climate make outdoor learning increasingly difficult — and at times unsafe.
Winter temperatures can drop to 3°C
Summer temperatures can rise to 48°C or higher
These extremes severely limit our ability to continue and expand our work.
Why We Need a School — Now
We urgently need to build a permanent school so that more children — especially girls, who are often excluded from education — can access a safe, inclusive, child-centred learning environment throughout the year.
A permanent school will allow us to:
Protect children from extreme weather
Involve more learners consistently
Offer stability, safety, and continuity
Create a space where children can learn, grow, and belong
What Your Support Will Build
If we raise €50,000, we can build:
Five classrooms
Toilets
A resource room
A small office
Educational materials and basic amenities
In Neemka, even small donations go a long way, and every contribution directly supports children who currently have very few educational opportunities.
How You Can Help
If our work and values resonate with you, we would be deeply grateful for your support — whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or spreading the word.
Together, we can create a school that offers learning, care, and possibility to children who need it most.
Thank you for standing with us.
