<div>On December 19, 2024, our aviation community lost one of its brightest lights, Nicholas B. "Nick" Bolander. As pilots, we often measure our lives by the hours spent in the skies, the experiences we share with one another, and the camaraderie that makes us more than colleagues—we become family. Nick, at 39 years young, was not only a skilled and respected captain and instructor pilot at FedEx but also a dedicated husband, father, and friend to all who knew him.

<div>For those of us who had the honor of flying alongside Nick, we remember his infectious laughter, steady leadership, and his love of life that made even the longest flights feel a little lighter. Whether you were a seasoned pilot or just starting out, Nick had a way of making everyone feel welcomed. His passion for flying was only matched by his commitment to his family—his wife, Michaela, and their four beautiful children: Alina (11), Vincent (10), Theo (10), and Louis (8).

<div>Nick’s life wasn’t just about being in the cockpit. He was a constant presence in his kids’ lives, coaching their sports teams, attending school events, and making sure that family came first. It’s hard to put into words the void his passing leaves, but it’s a loss we all feel deeply. As a pilot, as a father, and as a friend, Nick touched our lives in ways that will stay with us forever.

<div>In this time of transition, Michaela and the kids are facing unimaginable challenges. Beyond the emotional toll of losing Nick, they are also adjusting to life without the love and support of the man who held their family together. We have the opportunity to come together now to help provide some financial security for Michaela and the children as they navigate this difficult journey.

<div>Robert Sloan is a one-of-a-kind guy. He loves people with all his heart and is a guy you can always count on if you need help. His door is always open because he doesn't want anyone to not have a place to go.

<div>Rob was originally diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and was in remission the past few years.

<div>Sadly, this year, this unstoppable man was diagnosed with more cancer. It was discovered that he had lung cancer in each lung, bone cancer on the spine from top to bottom, cancer in the neck area, right upper leg, pelvic area, and most recently they found cancer in his liver.

<div>The oncologist suggested a more aggressive approach to the cancer, but Rob knew in his heart this wasn't the right decision. God was leading him to another type of treatment.

<div>He found Envita in Scottsdale, AZ. It's an alternative to typical cancer treatment and has had a lot of success. You can read about it at www. Envita.com.

<div>He will be heading out to this facility on Monday, December 2 at the latest and will need to be there for 8-10 weeks for this treatment. With this type of treatment, the cost runs around $150,000 out of pocket. Besides treatment costs, he will need housing, transportation and food.

<div>Good afternoon. This is Teresa Orive, FO on the Airbus. I wanted to reach out to our Pilot group and FedEx family because <strong>Lucille, who has been our coffee lady in the middle of the night for the last 20 years, has become very ill.</strong> She had a stroke and found out that she has stage four lung cancer, that has sadly, spread to her brain. She is going through treatment and will not be able to work and her daughter is taking off to be with her now.

<div>She was always a hard worker, making sure that we had fresh coffee and popcorn, working extra on the weekends and holidays. Lucille was always busy keeping the café area neat and clean. After a short time in ICU, Keith has been transferred to a regular room. Keith suffered multiple broken ribs, multiple organ injuries and will have an extensive recovery ahead!

<div>I apologize for taking so long to update but “Murphy” struck me a little over a week ago when I was also involved in a serious motor vehicle accident with an 18 wheeler returning from Memphis to St Louis.  The rental car was totaled but I was lucky to only suffered a fracture to a tooth from smashing my face in the steering wheel and yes, I was wearing a seat belt. Soreness has subsided dramatically and things are getting back to normal.

<div>Hi, my name is Boden Clark, I play for the Peninsula High School Lacrosse team.  Please help me raise funds to provide local hospitals with comfort items for adolescent cancer patients facing long hospital stays. 
</div>

<div><br />I have been undergoing treatment for leukemia for almost two and half years.   In my experience teens have different needs than the younger pediatric patients. Every young cancer fighter is a WARRIOR!   I believe teens have a unique struggle– middle school, high school, college plans, athletics, relationships, emotional and physical changes - it all falls apart. Teens, in particular, have no dedicated place in treatment and survival rates for leukemia are lower. We are not adults nor are we strictly pediatric. It is a lonely place but I believe that even in this small way we can help improve their quality of life while they fight.  <br /><br />
</div>

<div>My Story: <br />In February 2020, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). What followed was eleven horrible months of intense, debilitating chemotherapy. I spent over a third of that time hospitalized. The rapid and awful decline from the leukemia, followed by the serious and debilitating effects of chemo seemed to take away everything.
</div>

<div><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"><br />When lacrosse began last season I had just completed the “upfront” cycles of intense high-risk treatment during which time I received approximately 265 doses of chemotherapies.   (Additionally, I still had to complete a year and half of "maintenance treatment" to keep me in remission.  This consists of daily chemo and periodic lumbar punctures with spinal chemo.)  My body had been decimated, I was on/off crutches, had lost 3 in. of height, and did not have the strength to get through warm- ups.  No way did I think I would play but I wanted to be the best teammate I could possibly be. I was determined to show my support and hoped to be strong enough to be helpful in practice as the season went on. </span><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"> My team treated me like I was one of them, didn’t take it easy on me or lower any expectations.  Their encouragement and support fueled my battle on and off the field.  They helped me get my life back and I will always be grateful to them!<br /></span><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"><br /></span>

<div>While I continue on chemotherapy, I still have side-effects that make it difficult and painful to play but my team continues to carry me through. They give me their trust on the field and makes sure I have a trashcan nearby when I get sick on the sidelines.  What more can a guy ask for?

<div><br />In the beginning, I didn't want anyone to know; I didn’t want the attention or sympathy as the kid with cancer. However, my team has helped me understand that we fight and dig deeper together.  So now I wear leukemia ribbons on my helmet as a badge of honor and hope to share the message that we are all stronger than we believe.  Especially when we unite to fight!<br /><br />My Request:<br />Please donate to help improve the quality of life for adolescent cancer patients during their long hospital stays and time healing at home.

<div><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">I went to the ER for what I thought were very painful muscle spasms but instead was diagnosed with cancer and couldn’t leave the hospital for two weeks.  97% of my blood was cancerous and the accumulation of the cancer cells, expanding my bone marrow from within, was the true cause of the pain.  There is no way to prepare for something like this but together we can provide local hospitals with comfort items immediately available for patients.  While I spent the next year in and out of the hospital, I came to especially value a nice pillow, soft blanket and noise canceling headphones (to drown out the docs when they discuss scary technical stuff around the bedside).  During some hospital stays, when I was feeling stronger, we brought our x-box and the doctors would sometimes join me in a game.  It would be so awesome to raise enough to provide a pediatric wing with a gaming system!  </span>
</div>

<div><br />Athletics have the power to inspire and unite people in a way little else does - we learn the capacity to overcome insurmountable odds and create hope. Lacrosse Unite to Fight - Cancer Fundraiser

This fundraiser has been created to help my brother-in-law, Mike Pattillo, and his wife, May Pattillo, along with their children.  They have been married for five years and in that time their family has grown with the addition of a precious baby boy, Oliver! We are asking for donations to help keep this wonderful family together. The immigration process is a long and grueling one; fraught with many ups and downs. Any financial help you are able to provide would be much appreciated.  You would be helping to keep this family whole! They are currently being faced with the unthinkable. They have received a notice of denial for their green cards and have a very limited time to get the decision appealed. They are in need of an attorney! If something doesn't change soon May, her daughter Thea and baby Oliver will all have to return to Norway, leaving Mike behind for an unknown amount of time.
