<div>On Saturday, Nov. 22, while documenting a protest outside the Krome DHS facility in Miami-Dade County, Dave was arrested. He was released on bond just after midnight on Monday, Nov. 24.

<div>Dave has spent the last six years risking his physical and mental wellbeing to capture the world around him—including the actions of those protesting injustice across the U.S. He has been on the ground in South Florida since 'Alligator Alcatraz' went online, and has been regularly traveling to Chicago where he was recently shot with pepper balls while covering the city's Broadview detention facility.

<div>Besides bond, it's unclear how much Dave will have to spend to recover his vehicle, cover potential damages to gear, and navigate the fallout of the arrest and potential charges.

<div>Hi, my name is Barbara Fitch and I started this page to help Mitch and Amanda, They are really struggling right now as many of you know Mitch is back in the hospital in the critical care unit. He’s on oxygen because he is having trouble breathing on his own. Mitch has five more weeks of treatment for the infection in his heart before they can perform open heart surgery. On top of that the Cardioligist that was recommended informed Mitch and Amanda that they do not take the insurance that Mitch has.

<div>My luck finally ran out. On August 1, shortly after my birthday, I got very ill with what I thought was the flu. High grade fevers with chills, soaking night sweats, fatigue, and a pounding headache were the order of the day. Every day. After three weeks, I finally went to the ER. Just a bug, they said, and sent me a bill for three grand.
</div>
<div>Five months and one weeklong hospital stay later, after seeing all sorts of specialists chasing down every lead from diverticulitis to lymphoma, I finally have a real diagnosis. And it sucks.
</div>
<div>I have endocarditis, a rare-but-deadly condition where there's an infection in the aortic valve of my heart. Normal people who don't shoot up and who take care of their teeth almost never get this. But I was born with a birth defect, you see. The bacteria have all but destroyed my little mutant valve and good, oxygenated blood sloshes back into my heart with every pump instead of going where it needs to go. My heart has been putting in a lot of overtime and the poor thing has just about had it.
</div>
<div>The upshot of all this is I have to get rid of the infection through daily IV antibiotics for six weeks. And then I get to have open heart surgery to replace the valve. Hopefully, after that, I'll be mostly fine. That's what they say, anyway, but isn't it always.
</div>
<div>Let me tell you guys, being very ill for very long, it's no picnic. I haven't been able to work or do much of anything. I'm very tired and very broke. Thank God for Amanda, who has endured frequent crying jags with incredible patience. Without her...well, I don't like to think about that too much. Let's just say you wouldn't be reading this.
</div>
<div>It's a delicate and dangerous time for me right now, walking (slowly) around like this. But I can finally see the light of day. Hopefully I'll make it the six weeks and through the surgery. If not, well, I'll miss you. Take it easy.
</div>

Undefeated Hearts: FSU's Touchdowns for Joy!

The Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive

<p>It's with a heavy heart that we have to ask our dear friends and family for help...
</p>

<p>As most know, my dad, Mike was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma which required emergency surgery that was preformed last Friday, June 25th. If brain cancer were a shark, this is a Great White. Its aggressive, relentless, and the prognosis is poor.
</p>

<p> 
</p>

<p>The operation was successful and recovery seemed promising until he had a seizure the following day. Secondary to the seizure he developed left side weakness, slurred speech and extreme mental confusion. On Sunday night he got out of bed, stumbled and slammed his face on the doorframe. A stat CT scan showed no significant changes and it was decided, for his safety, he be restrained to the bed. Because he finds comfort in his family, we were granted to stay with him 24/7 while he's hospitalized. According to the neurosurgeon he expects him to remain hospitalized for the next three days and at that point he'll either go to a skilled nursing facility or home. Our goal is home with 24 hour care until we can get him to a state of optimal health.
</p>

<p>Right now we are taking it one day at a time, alternating shifts at the hospital to see him through his current delirium. As far as his treatment plan, he will do daily radiation for 6 weeks in conjunction with chemotherapy. With all that being said, both my mom and I will take an unpaid leave of absence from work so we can be by his side to give him total care and help navigate him through this complex and scary diagnosis.
</p>

<p>If you know Mike, you know how special he is. Its absolutely heartbreaking to see him in this state as we all know he is the least deserving of such torture. The outpour of love and support is a testament to how impactful he really is. He is a father figure to those who don't have one, he is the greatest friend to all, and he is a gentle comfort to those in need. He is the light of our life and he has saved us all in one way or another.
</p>

<p>By nature, he is a lover, but his last promise to us was that he would be a fighter. For once he would fight, and he would fight hard! He has never let us down and I know he'll give it all he's got.
</p>

<p>It is an honor and privilege to be by his side through this difficult time. We want to take care of him, as he would us. Family is the most important thing in his life and we are so incredibly blessed to have received his genuine love for so many years. Now it's his turn. Our love for him is unbreakable, unconditional and everlasting and he knows that.

Mike's Recovery Fund

On September 28th, 2020, Kenan "Kenosobi" Hercules transitioned to his heavenly home due to complications with high blood pressure (hypertension). Kenan was an incredibly talented musician and loving husband and father. Kenan is survived by his wife Tiffiny, daughter Kelani, stepsons Amari and Gianni, and countless other family and friends who loved him. We are reminded daily of how amazing Kenan was by his loving wife, Tiffiny. The support she has shown her husband throughout the years is truly inspiring. Although there is no monetary amount that can ease the pain of losing a loved one, Tiffiny deserves that love that she has given reciprocated back. With a new home and a family to care for, ANY support will be greatly appreciated. Tiffiny would like to take this time to remind everyone of the importance of taking action on any signs of high blood pressure and our overall health in general. Kenan loved everyone as much as we loved him.

Our dear Lauren has gone home to be with Jesus.  <br />There are no words to describe the pain and heartbreak felt by so many.  Most especially for Matt and their girls Ali, Naomi, and Layne, and their new baby boy, Matthew, who are deeply grieving the loss of their most precious wife and mom.<br /><br />Lauren passed away while in childbirth from what has been determined so far to be an unpreventable and very rare medical emergency.  <br /><br />Lauren &amp; Matt's dear new son, baby Matthew went to Heaven to be with Jesus after weeks on life support in the NICU.<br /><br />"Earlier this evening baby Matthew, held by his dad, surrounded by his close family as they worshipped and prayed, stepped into eternity to meet Jesus and his momma. Thank you for continuing to pray and support this family during this difficult time. They are so grateful for your prayers and your support.<br /><br />“we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. The texts and emails have given us more encouragement and hope than you will ever know. Please know that we would love to connect with each and every one of you but the circumstances make that nearly impossible. We read each message and see each gift of support and we are SO honored by all of them.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Today was one of the hardest days of my life. It will forever be etched in my brain. I sat in a room at Wolfsons hospital with 15 highly qualified medical professionals who all care deeply for our son Matthew. Unfortunately, the last thing I ever thought I would have to talk about as a father was now very real and happening.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">For those of you who may not know, Matthew is suffering from significant brain injury due to a prolonged period without oxygen during his birth.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">As a result, several serious complications related to cognitive function and development have become a reality for Matthew. At this time Matthew is being supported by a breathing machine requiring an airway tube, and also a feeding tube. Based on the severity of his condition Matthew will not be able to sustain life without these medical devices in place, what we would typically describe as “life support”. Over the past few weeks doctors have attempted to wean him off the machines, but sadly the results have not been positive.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Upon hearing this news, My first reaction as Matthews daddy was to sweep my sweet boy up and carry him as far away from machines, medications, life support and hospital smells as I could. I wanted to whisk him away to our family condo on the beach and let the healing kisses of his sisters, grandmas and cousins cleanse his little body of all his infirmities, but as life sometimes does, I was brought back down to the reality that my only son, the sweet boy that my wife so diligently and lovingly carried for 9 months is in a situation that daddy could not fix. The ONLY hope in all of this could only come from his heavenly daddy who placed breathe in Matthews lungs from the very beginning.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">TODAY, I was faced with something no father should ever have to face. The decision to place Matthew on endless life supporting contraptions and medications or allow God to carry him where He will. So many thoughts have run through my head. “What more can I give Lord, you have my soul mate and now my son? That is all I can bear. Please shower your mercy over me. This weight is too great!”
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Some will hear our story and think, what an awful tragedy.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Some will think, where is God when we need him?
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Some will say, see, miracles don’t happen.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">But do you want the truth? Matthew is a living miracle. See, Matthews coming into the world was far from normal. The minute his mommy took her last breath Matthew was thrust from the most peaceful world one could ever know into a chaotic frenzy to save his mother and him.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Without an ounce of oxygen he made it in an ambulance, to an emergency room, through an emergency c-section and into a NICU. Matthew then defied all odds and opened his eyes, breathed on his own, pumped blood through his strong heart, moved his limbs without rigidity and even made coo noises. His body slowly began to function, and he even gripped my finger when from what we were told, that should have been impossible.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">Often times we consider things miracles when the miracle looks how we want it to look. What I’ve learned is that miracles are miracles whether we choose to see them or not. My miracle was having my soul mate by my side for almost 20 years and then being so blessed to give her 4 gorgeous babies.
</p>

<p style="margin:6px 0px;font-family:'system-ui', '-apple-system', 'system-ui', sans-serif;color:#1d2129;">My miracle is holding my son for as many precious moments as possible and when the time comes, lifting him up to his mommy so that she can hold him for the first time in paradise.
</p>

It is because of your prayers that we have been able to have the sweetest family times around Matthew.
