Hello everyone, I am grateful to say I have another positive update for you! Asha has had a bone marrow biopsy for her day 100 post-transplant checkpoint. That test came back 100% clear of cancer! Additionally, her cells were confirmed to be 100% donor cells - with none of Asha’s own - a second line of confirmation that there is no detectable cancer. She had her central line (the IV line in her chest for chemotherapy and other medications too strong/irritating for smaller veins) removed recently. This line was put in on Christmas Day - 8 months ago - and now that its out Asha can do the things she has been wanting to do for ages. Handstands, cartwheels, and more dance moves! This is another step towards coming home. We don’t know exactly when, but hopefully in the next few weeks the Korytko’s will be moving toward bringing Asha home to Chilliwack for the first time since Christmas Eve. The Korytko’s are so grateful for all the support, and they still need it. The road ahead isn’t entirely clear, and relapse is still possible. However Asha is in the best position as the odds of relapse are far lower now than they were before the transplant. She has made it 100 days without relapse with 100% donor cells, which is what the doctors want! Joel & April continue to ask for prayer: -That the family would come together in unity, and wisdom and health integrating back into their new normal moving forward -That everyone would feel loved and supported after a challenging year split apart -For a good start to the school year for Reed and Ember -A smooth transition into homeschooling Asha (she cannot attend school yet because of her immunocompromised state) -For the rest of the children and doctors who remain at Ronald McDonald House and in the inpatient ward
