I am Mack, a local business owner who has always worked hard to provide quality wood products to my customers. Recently, I suffered injuries that forced me to hire outside help, which quickly exhausted my savings and other funds. On top of that, I lost essential tools and equipment that are critical for running my business. With camping season upon us, I can't afford to miss the window to supply retailers and campsites with firewood, which is a big part of my livelihood. I also have several black walnut logs that need to be milled for countertops and rounds, but without the proper equipment, I can't move forward. Additionally, I need a wood grinder to turn rejected wood into pulp for landscapers and homeowners. Right now, I simply don't have the funds to achieve these goals. Despite these challenges, I trust God for bringing me this far and lean on Him every day. My desire is to build a business that not only supports me but also gives back to the community. I love what I do and wake up every day thinking about how I can provide a valuable wood source for my customers. Two years ago, on March 22, my life changed dramatically. I suffered a severe accident that fractured my spinal cord and five ribs, and punctured one of my lungs. On top of that, I have been managing diabetes and heart failure, which has made recovery even more challenging. Over the past two years, I have used up all my savings and stocks to hire workers and repair the equipment needed to keep my wood business running. Despite my best efforts, my strength and ability to do physical work are still limited, and it has been tough to keep up with the demands of my business and support my family. My wood business is more than just a job—it's a way I serve my county and community, providing firewood for camping and milling wood for table tops and specialty lumber. I love what I do, but right now, I am hanging by a shoestring. Some of the funds raised will go toward paying bills for my house and medicine, while the rest will help me ramp up operations, wrap firewood, and continue milling wood for my customers. My customers have always appreciated the quality firewood and milled walnut slabs and rounds I provide. But now, I need help to replace stolen chainsaws, upgrade my log splitter, and cover the cost of repairs for my dump trailer and truck. I also need to repair two storage structures for drying milled wood slabs and storing equipment. With operating capital, I can afford to hire help, expand my product offerings, and reach out to other retailers through advertising. On March of 2024 I had a bad fall and nearly lost my life. It took months to get back on my feet. I’m 72 years of age and have exhausted all my savings and stocks to keep my business going. My firewood business for this winter has barely kept me going. I need the help to keep things going. I have two contracts and seeking other businesses to sell our camping wrapped firewood. Plus we mill table and countertop slabs for buyers and building a website for milled walnut and oak. I only receive SSI each month and only pays my house rent. I have worked very hard to build my business. And I’m facing loosing everything. In April I’m having shoulder surgery on my left shoulder. I'm a 72-year-old male. I began my wood business in 2023. On March 22, 2024, I had a fall onto my back. The fall fractured my upper spinal cord, fractured 5 ribs, and punctured a lung. My recovery in the hospital was for 4 months. From that time, I have exhausted all my savings and stocks to keep my livelihood going. Now, I'm only surviving from firewood sales but not able to provide other services for hardwood for lumber, countertops, tables, and specialty products.
