<div>Thanks for taking the time to read about my brother Gabe. On July 9, 2023 Gabe was having complications breathing and was taken to Whittier Hospital. He was admitted into the ICU with an extreme case of pneumonia and heart failure. The first few days became especially difficult because one of his lungs was completely filled with blood and fluids and his blood pressure was at one point 350/150 paired with a fever. Since then treatments have ranged from surgery to breathing machines but thankfully with his fighting spirit he’s been able to avoid both options as of today.

Gabe’s Medical Expenses

<p>Race Across the West (RAW) is a 930 mile cycling race that starts in Oceanside, CA and finishes in Durango, CO.  After many years cycling and crewing for other athletes, I decided to give it a try at becoming the 1st Puertorrican female to ever cross the finish line.  With a 0 DNF record I am very confident I can successfully tackle this goal!  The money needed will cover the costs of bringing crew to CA, all their expenses during the race, registration, food, lodging and vans needed as follow vehicle among others. We're looking to raise around 10k. One of our members, a first responder, Sherry Nowotarski, was hit by a car last week while cycling with friends. She was critically injured and passed away on Friday, Oct 15.  Her family will be faced with numerous expenses as they settle her affairs . Please join me in contributing.  Project Hero is a national nonprofit that helps injured veterans and first responders. All of your contributions will go directly to Sherry’s family. Good day to you guys.  Anyone who knows me knows I never ask anyone for help. Well now I need some help. Several people have reached out to me trying to help me but I refused. Now it's time to ask for help.<br /> For those of you that don't know my father is gravely ill and dying. For those of you that don't know my father is gravely ill and dying.<br /> I might have to relocate to his house so I can help him.<br /> Instead of sitting in a nursing home where he can't have any visitors because of the global pandemic. He wants to die at his house. He wants to die at his house. Which is totally understandable. The problem is there's only his wife there to help and she has to work  A daytime job.<br />  So no one will be there to take care of my father if something happened.<br /><br />So the reason I made this account is so I could save the money to travel Arkansas to help him. Obviously you guys know that my car is on its last leg. Obviously you guys know that my car is on its last leg. I will have to rent Au haul with a trailer to put my car on the Trailer. I will also need money for food and gas.<br /> I will have to find a job as soon as I get there. The problem is the closest bike shop to them is an hour and a 1/2 away in car. So I will not be working at a bike shop unfortunately. The closest town to them is like 17 miles and it is about the size of your pinky the tip of it.<br /> All this been said this is not finalised yet. <strong>PLEASE HELP STARK SURVIVE CANCER and CONTINUE TO HELP SERVE.<br /><br /></strong>Stark is a 7-year-old Labrador Retriever Service Dog that has a unique story.<br /><br /><strong>Stark has been diagnosed with Lymphoma.  Without treatment, the life expectancy in dogs with lymphoma is 1-2 months. With treatment, in dogs that feel well, about 80% – 90% of dogs with lymphoma attain a complete remission.</strong><br /><br /><strong>Stark needs to undergo a 19-week chemotherapy</strong> at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego area.<br /><br />- Stark has been Erich Allman's partner and service dog for the past four plus years and they are inseparable. <br /><br />- Stark is very important and needed by Erich to help with his injuries.<br /><br />- <strong>Erich is a disabled combat veteran. Having Stark as a partner has improved his quality of life beyond measure.  <br /></strong><br />- Erich received Stark through an organization called Pawsitive Teams that assists military veterans (and numerous civilians with mobilty limiting disabilities) in the San Diego area. <br /><br />- Stark can open up doors, tell Erich when someone is around or behind him (needed due to his loss of hearing), pick up items like keys and water bottles and hand them to Erich, plus numerous other skills that continue to benefit Erich's physical health.<br /><br />- Erich suffers from numerous injuries including PTSD/TBI which includes anxiety in crowded places such as supermarkets.  Stark helps him navigate those areas. <br /><br />- Stark is also trained to help wake Erich at night when he has night terrors.  He wakes Erich up by turning on the lights, tugging his blanket off and sometimed giving an occasional bark for those rough nights.  <br /><br />- Stark has an amazing personality and knows when he's working and when he isn't.  If you have been around him when his vest comes off, you know he loves to have fun and loves the attention!<br /><br /> - Erich will tell you Stark has helped him in countless ways and<strong> saved his life.</strong>  <br /><br />                                 <br />          <strong>Stark is a true hero in need of HELP.</strong><br /><br /><br />           <strong>A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT STARK:  </strong><br /><br />   Stark's donor was a wonderful, delightful, caring lady named Erika Fry (maiden name Stark) that smiled so brightly.   Unfortunately, Erika Fry has passed away but she was able to share her family's story and historical documents with Erich Allman through the few years they got to know each other. <br /><br />    Stark is named after a Holocaust victim named Karl Arnold Stark (born in 1891 and died in 1945 by the Nazis).  Karl's wife and his daughter Erika Sara Stark escaped Austria from the Nazis on the Holland-America Line Ship called the "Veendam" which sailed from Rotterdam, Netherlands on the morning of Friday December 8th, 1939.  They landed in Hoboken, New Jersey on Christmas Day. Erika told Erich that she woke up that morning  and went up onto the main deck of the ship to see the Statue of Liberty and all of New York's tall buildings as they traveled into America's port of call.  She and her mom survived and carried on, without their family.  Fortunately, Erika's brother, Egor Stark, was rescued by the U.S. Army in late 1944.  <br /><br />   In the 2010's, Erika Fry attended her Lady Lions club in the San Diego area and met Carol Davis from Pawsitive Teams when she presented to the club. Erika told Erich that, in August 2012, she made up her mind to become a donor and support Pawsitive Teams after seeing the organization's great work with disabled children and adults with mobility issues.   Erika stated that she wanted to, "do this as a memorial for my dad" and to honor the U.S. military for rescuing her brother from the fate of the concentration camps.  From there on, Stark became the name for this amazing dog.<br /><br />   Stark was born on July 10, 2012.  Carol Davis received Stark as a puppy at 10 weeks old to begin training him his special skills.  Erika Fry was an amazing woman who loved to feed Stark treats and shower him with attention.  Later, Stark would get excited every time he and Erich visited her.  Erich was honored that he got to meet the donor and namesake of his service dog.  In Erika Fry's memory, there is a new service dog named Erika, currently in training with Pawsitive Teams.
