Alicia Miller, my daughter, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2025 at just 33 years old. With young children depending on her, Alicia’s world changed overnight. Genetic testing revealed she carries the BRCA 1 gene, putting her at high risk for not only breast cancer, but also ovarian and pancreatic cancer. In January 2026, Alicia underwent a double mastectomy, followed by a second surgery to treat an infection. Her oncologist recommended 12 weeks of chemotherapy to prevent future cancer and ensure all traces of breast cancer were gone.
While waiting for insurance approval, Alicia suffered an ankle injury that made it impossible for her to walk. She was hospitalized due to dangerously high calcium levels, which threatened her heart. Just as Alicia began chemotherapy, her husband lost his job and their health insurance. Money was already tight, and now it’s gone. Her husband will start a new job soon, but the new insurance may not cover Alicia’s chemotherapy, reconstructive surgery, or the hysterectomy she needs to prevent ovarian cancer. Alicia has amazing support from family and friends, but the financial strain is overwhelming.
Funds raised will help cover Alicia’s medical bills and living expenses during her treatment and recovery. This includes chemotherapy, surgeries, and daily needs for her and her children while her husband transitions to a new job and insurance coverage. If you can help in any way, please do. Your support will make a real difference for Alicia and her family. Please share this fundraiser and keep Alicia in your thoughts and prayers.
