Honoring the Life of Chef Patricia Betancourt It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Chef Patricia Betancourt — a woman of faith, warmth, generosity, and a true servant’s heart. Chef Patricia lived to give, and she did so with joy, excellence, and deep love for others. Patricia poured her heart into the kitchen — not only through cooking, but through teaching and mentoring. She trained and invested in so many youth, patiently showing them how to cook, how to serve, how to work as a team, and how to take pride in what they do. For many young people, Chef Patricia was their first real teacher in the kitchen — encouraging them, believing in them, and shaping them with kindness and discipline. Her legacy lives on through every life she touched. Chef Patricia’s passing was unexpected, and she did not have life insurance in place. Her husband, Chef Carlos, is now navigating the deep grief of losing his wife while also facing the significant and immediate financial responsibilities of burial. The total cost is approximately $20,000, which includes expenses such as:  •    Funeral home services  •    Holding and care of the body  •    Tahara  •    Transfer to the burial plot  •    Purchase of the burial plot •    Casket  •    Headstone and related burial costs As a family and church community, we are coming together to support Chef Carlos during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution — large or small — will help ease this financial burden and allow him the space to grieve, heal, and honor Chef Patricia’s life with dignity and peace. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, and any funds raised prior to the service will go directly toward helping cover these immediate costs. If you are unable to give financially, your prayers, messages, and shared memories are deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us honor a woman who gave so much of herself to others.
My family has always worked hard to support ourselves, but this year has brought unimaginable challenges. A loose propane line in our brand new food truck caused a flash explosion, sending my wife to the hospital for five weeks with third-degree burns over nearly a quarter of her body. The accident has left her with a long road to recovery, and our business—our main source of income—has been forced to shut down while lawyers and insurance companies investigate what happened. We are still able to offer catering, but it’s not enough to cover our monthly bills and keep us afloat. We are doing everything we can to stay above water, but the process is slow and uncertain. The legal and insurance issues are ongoing, and we don’t know when we’ll be able to get back on the road with our food truck. In the meantime, our family is struggling to pay for basic living expenses. We never imagined we’d be in this position, but we are reaching out to our community for help. We are not looking for handouts—we are trying to earn our way and keep our business alive. Any support you can offer, whether it’s a donation or sharing our story, means the world to us. Thank you for considering helping our family during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity will help us get through this and, hopefully, back on our feet.
