This is my first time creating a GoFundMe, and it is not something I ever expected to do. For most of my life, I worked in food and hospitality, and that work was a big part of who I am. Creating, cooking, and contributing meant a lot to me. But medical issues eventually changed what I am physically able to do, and I have been unable to work since March 2025. I received California State Disability for a year. On the advice of my disability attorney, I applied for federal Social Security Disability in November 2025, months before my state benefits were due to end, in the hope that there would be no interruption in income. Unfortunately, the process has taken much longer than expected. My state disability benefits have now ended, while my federal claim is still under medical review. That has left me in a financial gap I tried to plan ahead to avoid.
I am currently two months behind on my rent, which is $2,549 per month, and about two months behind on my electric bill, with a balance of approximately $200. At this point, I simply do not have enough income to bring these essential bills current while I continue waiting for a decision on my disability claim. The funds raised here will go first toward catching up on my rent and electric bill so I can remain in my home and keep the basic necessities functioning. If support goes beyond those immediate bills, any additional funds will help with food, other utilities, and basic living expenses during this period without income.
I am asking for help because the financial gap created by this extended wait has reached a point I can no longer manage on my own. If you are able to donate, even a small amount will make a real difference right now. If you are not in a position to give, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much to me. I am deeply grateful for any support, whether it comes through a donation, a share, or simply taking the time to read my story. Thank you for helping me get through this difficult stretch.
