My dear friend was driving home when her beloved dog, Navi, suddenly became very sick. Far from home and in a town she had never been to before, she was forced to stay for two days so Navi could receive emergency veterinary care. After countless tests and anxious hours, Navi was diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA), a serious and life-threatening disease that causes the body's immune system to attack its own red blood cells. Navi isn't "just a dog." She is family. She is my friend's constant companion, her comfort, her baby, and truly her soul dog. Anyone who knows them knows the incredible bond they share. The emergency hospitalization, diagnostics, medications, and ongoing treatments have quickly become overwhelming financially.
