<div> Hello, I am Ali, a 29-year-old doctor. I graduated from Alexandria University in Egypt three years ago. My family was living in a harsh financial situation, and they gave me all they had for me to become a doctor. This was despite all of the obstacles and difficulties, knowing that I would return back to them eventually and to my homeland to make a difference. 

</div>

<div>Some time before the war broke out, I was working as a resident doctor in the obstetrics and gynecology department, and at the same time I passed two out of three exams," OET, PLAB 1, PLAB2", to have the opportunity to register in the British Medical Council and to complete my education there.

</div>

<div> My plan was to expand my medical experience in Gaza and to be ready financially to complete my education in the UK at the same time. I resigned from my residency and began working as a general practitioner in the emergency department of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. 

</div>

<div> As fate would have it, my first working day was October 5th, 2023, just two days before the war.
It is difficult to describe the scenes I have witnessed since October 8th. The bloody scenes I have witnessed are now lodged in my memory, and I will never be able to forget them. 

</div>

<div>What affects me the most are the repeated scenes of injured mothers calling out for their children and the repeated scenes of inconsolable severely injured children calling out for their mothers. 

</div>

<div> Many of my colleagues working in the same department were martyred, and so many of my relatives, friends, and neighbours were also martyred. All of them good people, who led normal lives and had loved ones and families. 
My family and I walked the dangerous path of displacement many times and had to move from our home to several places, after forceful displacement and finally to Rafah, where I worked at Muhammad al-Najjar Hospital. This hospital had fallen apart at that time, after many months of receiving thousands of patients. There were no medical supplies and limited medical equipment. It was painful for me as a doctor to witness patients suffer and suffocate, and nothing could be done to prevent the preventable.

<div> My work does not bring me any financial return for me to be able to help my family of 10 overcome the high cost of food and basic requirements. 

</div>

<div> The fear of hospitals and medical personnel being targeted has not dettered me from doing my duty to help by sacrificing myself for vulnerable Palestinian civillians.
</div>
<div> I must continue my work but need your help to survive by providing financial access to food, water, and necessities for myself and my family and to help save up the money needed for me to travel and complete my education as soon as the crossing is open. 
</div>
<div> 10 months into this hell on earth, it is becoming more and more difficult to hold on to hope that I have a bright future ahead of me, but I must hold onto that hope.  

The two exams that I had passed cost me a lot of money, effort, and time, and they are limited to a specific timeframe.
</div>
<div> I must complete the remaining exam as soon as possible, otherwise I will lose everything.

Now, I am at a new crossroad, and this exam "PLAB 2" represents an important and sensitive turning point in life, the culmination of many years of studying, and hard work.

<div> Help me to achieve my dream and return again to my homeland, to heal the wounded and treat the sick among my people, who have remained.

<br /><br />Hi All Monet here, George and Isaac’s cousin.<br /><br />Recently we have been given good news that there is a treatment available to help the boy's hearts stay healthy.

This is a miracle. However, it is available on The USA and it is expensive.<br /><br />Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a catastrophic muscle wasting disease. Unfortunately,  at the moment there is no treatment avaiable for them yet, that can treat the underlying cause of the disease. 

Duchenne affects every muscle in the body and the boys are now paralysed. They need help and support with all activities of daily living. Their bodies become weaker with every passing day. 

 In July 2022, their beautiful big brother Archie, died suddenly of heart failure, due to Duchenne.<br /><br />As you can imagine, we are all so terrified because without treatment, the same thing will happen to George &amp; Isaac. 

This is why we are on a mission to raise €650,000 for this life-saving treatment to keep George and Isaac’s hearts healthy.

I am organizing this fundraiser at the request of my dear friend, Omar Shomar, whom I’ve known now for almost 6 years. During this time, we have grown close and shared many joys and sorrows—albeit, at a distance. Urgent Relief: Saving My Family from the Ravages of War

<div>I began organising this fundraiser in December on behalf of my friend Mahmoud Ghrbawi and his family, citizens of Gaza who like many Palestinians have been displaced many times and are suffering under the heavy bombardment from the occupation since October 2023. His family, which consists of 8 people, have very little means of escaping these terrifying conditions but despite this, Mahmoud is still putting a smile on children's faces by providing entertainment through his talent in parkour. You can see from his Instagram videos that he loves to give strength and support to the children. He has a kind, strong and resilient soul, and is extremely talented in parkour which he has been practicing since he was a child. Mahmoud has big dreams of continuing to practice and compete in this sport; he was also diligently studying at college before the war, but he has been hindered due to the brutal occupation.

<div>Unfortunately, his home and his neighbourhood has been completely destroyed which you can see in the pictures below. He has nowhere to return to and trying to find the basic necessities is very difficult and expensive. He has witnessed several wars in his lifetime due to the occupation forces, but especially now living without a home, lack of food, clean water, sanitary products, and other basic items, life in Gaza has become unbearable. Everything he knew has been destroyed. He has expressed that he loves his family very much and that he wants to evacuate them to anywhere safe. Any place where they don't have to live in constant fear.
</div>
<div>Leaving Gaza, his home, is not a situation that anyone wants to be in, however, the indiscriminate war has made it impossible to live in safety. Unfortunately, money has become the biggest obstacle in this situation. Evacuating from Gaza costs thousands per person, and it is impossible to find the money to do so without the generosity of donors.
</div>

<div>The world leaders have abandoned the Palestinians, but this doesn't mean that we can't help them. <strong>I can assure you that all donations will go towards helping Mahmoud and his family evacuate from Gaza to safety, and also to purchase necessities such as food, water, sanitary products, and medical aid.</strong>

Help evacuate Mahmoud to safety. Gaza emergency

<div>My name is Mohamad Imad Khalidi , I am from Palestine, I live in Gaza.
</div>
<div>I can’t believe what happened to me and my family, everything was destroyed, and I don’t know if it is still possible to think of my ambition, goals, and my university that I love the most. The war has destroyed everything even my studies. I did everything to become successful.
</div>
<div>Honestly, I’m no more interested in neither studying nor my goals, because me and every member in my family we think nothing but to be safe and get rid of this mad war, and how to get out of this miserable life.
</div>
<div>The recent last months was full of death, fear and displacement, they were like a nightmare that have destroyed our hope, memories and houses. We didn’t expect that one day we will reach this hard time. We love our country; we love our life, but life forms disappeared.
</div>
<div>There are 8 members in my family. We used to gather in our beautiful home and enjoy every single moment. Each one of us has done his/her best and has tried hard to reach his/her goals and help one another, and builds his/her future bit by bit and step-by-step. We were intended to see our brother’s graduation, but the dream vanished.
</div>
<div>Everything has changed at the beginning of October 7th. After two weeks of the war we have forced to leave the house, and escape from the unbelievable and the random rockets. We left our home holding our few clothes and personal things and refuged to Rafah “the southern Gaza strip”.

<div>My wonderful family and my mother who don’t hesitate to support us psychologically, and be there when I need them. She always creates strength out of weakness and cooks for us from the rare available food, she always gathers us even in the hardest times. In addition, my talented dad that has distinguished experiences, spent his life making our lives going well, but unfortunately, he lost everything in this war, he lost his work, his factory, his pioneering company, which provides a lot to the community in Gaza in the field of agricultural food production. He is now in the most difficult conditions, he is in sorrow and great pain, he watches us quietly and silently. It is not easy for us to see him in this state.
</div>
<div>Furthermore, I have a kind younger brother named Kinan that has special needs, a Down Syndrome “Syndrome of love”. He is the closest person to my heart. He is marvelous, he was in a private school but unfortunately the war destroyed it, and we lost the ability to keep up with his education. He needs to continue receiving education and special care. We tried our best to teach him in this difficult situation, but in the right moment we can’t teach him properly because he fears from the sound of the violent bombing and rockets. He lost his concentration. I feel so heartbroken when he tells me in his special and his own language, where will the war end? I can’t even hide my emotions in front of him.
</div>
<div>Moreover, I have a brother named Zayn he is in high school, he adores basketball, he is a good player, he is a member of the first-class team for his age. He has a deep love and ambition to be a worldwide player.
</div>
<div>My older brother Hussein is the most one that helps my father, he is majored in digital media and has graduated. As for Rakan my warm brother, he studies computer engineering, he helps everyone around him, he helps other people to build the tents along the war.
</div>
<div>My younger sister Lamar the beloved one and my mother’s right hands, she has finished middle school. As for my other sister Areej with her 3 wonderful kids, she studied law in the university and she is a good lawyer, and my sister Aseel and her 2 smart kids, she studies multimedia, she holds an honors degree and became a teaching assistant in the university. They both live with us in the harsh conditions of war. So that my parents can be more relieved.

<div>Every day and every moment we hope the war, genocide, oppression, abuse, would end. But the fear still rules the situation and it gets out of our hands, it is just getting worse. So I have to do anything just to move from here and protect my family, but we can’t do this and leave, we have nothing left to go abroad.

<div>It wasn’t easy to ask for help at all, but we don’t have any other choice, so from the bottom of my heart, I kindly ask you to help us as much as you can in this urgent and dangerous circumstance. <div>Hello, My name is Dennis Mastenbroek. I'm organising this fundraiser on behalf of yousef Hassn, a citizen of Gaza who has been facing difficulty under the terrifying bombardment by the occupation since October 2023. He urgently needs our help to leave Gaza and travel to Egypt as Gaza has become uninhabitable due to the destruction caused by the occupation.

<div>Yousef is young guy, very smart guy and talented he play guitar and many musical instruments, he likes to draw and he is a guy who loves life, he was one of the top students in his college, he is a kind, genuine guy who seek to live in peace and dreams of playing music aboard.

<div>Unfortunately, his home has been destroyed and his family were killed, so he has become displaced and also the solo survivor of his family, and is currently living in a tent in Rafah, at the Palestine-Egypt border. Not only has he been displaced, but the harsh winter, and the scarcity of food, water, and other basic items have made it unbearable to live under such conditions. Leaving Gaza, his home, is not a situation that anyone wants to be in, however, the indiscriminate war has made it impossible to live there. It costs approximately $10,000 to cross the border into Egypt, which is impossible to do so without, therefore he can only rely on our help to get him to safety as he lost everything and don't have anyone by his side .

<div>The world leaders have abandoned the Palestinians, but this doesn't mean that we can't help them. All donations will go towards helping yousef evacuate from Gaza to Egypt, and also to purchase necessities such as food, water, sanitary products, and medical aid.

FUNDRAISING 4 GAZA DIRECT TO WOMAN OF YOGA PROJECT

<div>In the summer of 2022 while on her first family holiday in Spain, Hallie was diagnosed with JMML, a rare type of leukaemia, at just 8 months old.

<div>Hallie was subsequently flown home and began treatment in Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) where she has bravely taken on endless chemo, 2 gruelling stem cell transplants and countless blood transfusions and still always has a smile on her face.

<div>Sadly, the latest transplant has not worked and after global discussions, the team at BCH have said the only way left to save Hallie’s life involves a CAR T-cell therapy trial which will hopefully be starting in Great Ormond Street Hospital very soon, and if not then in America. This is going to cost in excess of £1 million.

<div>Richmond Road Studios was established in 2002 under the name Pigdog Studios. It was renamed in 2007. Richmond Road Studios is an artists-led organisation, committed to providing studio space for emerging and established visual artists. It provides a forum for its members to actively participate within the visual arts, through supporting and promoting their activities.

<div>Dublin has been plundered of its creative spaces for years. Richmond Road Studios is one of the last remaining unfunded and non-profit studios, originating from a time when Dublin was literally bursting to the seams with affordable studios and creative spaces. We are now in receivership and have been given notice. This disintegration of Dublin’s cultural scene is a palpable presence in many people's lives both in and outside of the creative industries. It’s the rental crisis, it’s the cost of living, it’s the disappearance of voices, it’s the endless hustling juggle of trying to keep the disintegration at bay, it’s knowing that there are bigger and constantly unfolding emergencies in our collective daily experience.

<div>We have been extremely lucky to have received a substantial amount of free legal advice since we went into receivership on the 8th of February. However, our legal situation is complex due to a number of factors. We would like to raise money to cover our legal costs in order to properly employ and remunerate those who have been so generous with their time, in order to fight for our studio. 
</div>

<div>Dublin City Council has agreed unanimously to assist us in exploring how they can support the provision of a space for Richmond Road Studio members. 
</div>

</div>
<div>But donating to this GoFundMe campaign will allow us to continue to fight for the livelihoods of 20 artists through buying us time to secure a permanent resolution for the studios with the support of Dublin City Council.

<div>As mentioned above, this is a far wider issue than just our studio. This is each and every one of us, living in this city, who deserves to experience a city that is rich in culture, in all forms. Save Richmond Road Studios

<div>We have set up this Go Fund Me for our sister, Ciara.
</div>

<div>After many years of working as a nurse and caring for others, our wonderful life-loving sister Ciara has had to switch roles from being a nurse to being a patient.
</div>
<div>Although you wouldn't know it to look at her, Ciara has had three separate battles with Cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) twice as a teenager and then again in her twenties.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, at the young age of 36, due to treatment toxicity from previous chemotherapies, Ciara has now developed a very aggressive blood cancer called treatment -related High Risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ciara has already undergone a year and a half of treatment under the care of her wonderful team in St. James' Hospital, Dublin, but despite all their efforts, her blood cancer did not respond to any treatment and has now progressed significantly. She is now sadly living on borrowed time and has been advised that all that is left to do is enjoy her last remaining months.
</div>
<div>Through her sheer determination and drive to keep going and not give up, Ciara has researched international medical trials.
</div>
<div>She has been fortunate to have an opportunity to participate in a clinical trial for Car T- Cell Therapy at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, which she is due to start on June 1st 2022.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While we are so very grateful to have the opportunity to participate in this clinical trial, it will be entirely self-funded. With the exception of the actual Car T-Cell drug infusion, all other treatment needed, including chemotherapy and lengthy hospital stays, will be self-funded. This will be extremely challenging given the cost of medical care in the US. We have been advised that the estimated cost of all the medical treatment could reach above 500,000 euro.
</div>
<div>The clinical trial requires a minimum stay of six weeks, presuming everything goes smoothly with no complications.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We never imagined having to ask this of anyone, but unfortunately, we are in this situation.
</div>
<div>Ciara is an incredible person. She is a ray of sunshine in every room she enters and she truly is the light of our lives. We are so incredibly grateful for any support you can offer, no matter how big or small.

Ciara Barry: Car T- Cell Therapy In U.S

<p>My name is Glenda &amp; I decided to start this Go Fund Me page to try to help Katie &amp; David raise funds to support their beautiful daughter Penelope.  We have watched Katie's family struggle so much over the years with little or no help from anybody.  Penelope is being failed so badly &amp; I can't stand by and watch what it is doing to her &amp; her remarkable Mam &amp; Dad anymore.  If we can just raise some funds so that Penelope gets the equipment she needs to live her life comfortably that would be such a help for her and her family.   Katie &amp; David have given me their permission to do this.  They were a bit reluctant at first but realise that time is of the essence where Penelope's care and comfort is concerned and they just cannot do it all themselves.<br /><br />A little bit about Penelope from Katie<br /><br />Penelope has a life limiting illness (Pontocerebellar hypoplasia) Penelope’s exact variant has only been identified in one other patient. It is extremely rare and degenerative. <br />It is a deleterious disease and any skill she has, she will more than likely lose. Caring for Penelope is of the same level as caring for a newborn baby.<br />She has optic nerve hypoplasia and extremely bad dystonia that is proving hard to treat along with many other complex issues such as secondary microcephaly.<br />Penelope can not sleep at night and is on a cocktail of medication to sleep at night, She wakes most nights and does not go back to sleep despite medication.<br /><br />Penelope is tube fed, completely nil by mouth, cannot walk, talk or sit. <br />Penelope is on a large amount of medication each day including benzodiazepines and sodium valproate. <br />She suffers double incontinence and wears nappies.<br />She is currently using a nebuliser to help with respiratory issues.<br />She requires round the clock care. <br />Penelope is not in receipt of HSE nursing hours.<br />Penelope’s only nursing care is via the jack and Jill nursing foundation.<br />During COVID lockdowns all nursing was stopped due to fear of Covid infection.<br />Penelope has only recently stopped cocooning and when fit, attends pre-school.<br />Penelope currently weights 20.2kg.<br /><br /><br />She has no safe bathing equipment.   Being told to wait when you don’t have time is infuriating. Every day without safe equipment is putting her at risk. If Penelope falls, she can’t put her arms out to save herself. She is extremely vulnerable and fragile.<br /><br /><br />We are in the middle of buying a house and will need to adapted it for Penelope’s increasing needs, an adequate wet room, downstairs bedroom, changing area and wheelchair accessible ramps. We also need storage for the large quantities of medicines, feed, syringes, giving sets, bandages, nappies, medical equipment and pumps.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I'm asking you all to share this far and wide and try to contribute if circumstances allow.  Hopefully the powers that be see this fundraiser and the lengths that families have to go to to access basic equipment and therapies for their children.<br /><br />Thanks so much!<br />Glenda<br /><br /><br /><br />

<p>Hello everyone:)<br /><br />We are a family from Navan, Meath and I have created this page for my son Nahyan my precious beautiful boy.<br />He was diagnosed with metastatic Neuroblastoma a very rare and aggressive form of cancer in may 2020.<br />Nahyan has High risk stage 4 NB cancer which has survival rate of only 40%. <br /><br />Since the diagnosis we have been through hell and back. Nothing about this journey has been easy. We were given an 18 month treatment plan including Chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, surgery, radiation and immunotherapy. Nahyan is now in the last part of treatment I.e immunotherapy.<br /><br />My real life superhero Nahyan has fought this battle with courage and strength and tears and pain. <br />He is still fighting this monster everyday and has developed countless longterm side effects from the treatment. still we have no other option but to keep going.<br /><br />Once Nahyan finishes his treatment in Ireland we are working hard to get him on the Bivalent Vaccine trial at MSK Cancer Center, New York. It is the only pediatric tumor vaccine in existence.<br /><br />As the relapse rate for NB stage 4 is around 60% and if a child relapses there is no known cure and treatment that works. Help Nahyan fight cancer

<div>Theo arrived a much longed for and healthy baby on the 27th of April 2017.  On Wednesday the 16th of May 2018, two weeks after his first birthday, I took Theo to my local GP when I felt a lump in his lower abdomen and was concerned that his belly was quite swollen.  We were immediately sent to University Hospital Limerick where they found a large tumour in Theo’s abdomen. He was taken by ambulance to Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Dublin, where he was diagnosed with Stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma, a cancer that had spread to his bones and scalp.  By Saturday morning, he was having chemotherapy and our world had fallen apart.

<div>Since then, Theo has had his tumour removed and gone through numerous  rounds of chemotherapy, a double stem cell transplant, fourteen rounds of radiotherapy and six rounds of immunotherapy. He has suffered setbacks along the way, including two very serious infections which had him admitted to Intensive Care. We have come scarily close to losing him, but Theo has defied all odds and battled through it. He is just about to finish his last round of immunotherapy, after which we are hopeful for a clear scan. Theo is only three and has been in treatment for two and a half years.

<div>Unfortunately, with the type of cancer that Theo has, the chance of re-occurrence is extremely high. We now need help. Today, as Theo’s mum, I am asking you to help me get Theo on a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital Cancer Centre in New York.

<div>This trial will help prevent the cancer re-occurring and greatly improve Theo’s chances of survival. Theo deserves a long, healthy life free from pain and fear. <div>The last two and a half years have been incredibly tough, especially as a single parent. I have learned firsthand how precious life really is and how quickly it can all be taken away. This isn’t true.  Believe me, this is when you’re at your absolute weakest. I have laid my child in a surgeon’s arms and spent Christmas keeping watch over him in ICU. I have slept upright in a hospital chair and listened to the beeping of machines. I have smiled through the tears and found strength when there wasn’t any left. I have done it all for Theo, who is at the end of the day just a very normal, very precious boy, full of mischief, quick to smile, and a big fan of Tractor Ted and Paw Patrol. Today, I need my friends and community to help me give Theo the best future he can possibly have.

Team up for Theo

We are raising funds for the treatment and care of Olivia, our beautiful baby girl. Little Livie has been diagnosed with a rare and serious genetic neuromuscular condition called spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1.  SMA is caused by a gene deletion which results in deterioration of Livie’s nerve cells connecting her brain and spinal cord to her body’s muscles. There is no cure and Livie has its most severe type. Livie’s muscles used for activities such as crawling, walking, sitting up, moving her head, and even swallowing and breathing, are becoming progressively weaker and shrinking. Without any treatment, little Livie’s condition would continue to deteriorate and it would be unlikely that she would live past her 2nd birthday. Every child with SMA is different and little Livie’s future is very uncertain. <br /><br />Treatment options for little Livie are very limited.  Our best hope for a better life for Livie is a once-off gene therapy called Zolgensma, which is currently only available in USA. It costs approximately US$2,100,000. Studies have shown that Zolgensma can substantially improve quality of life. Livie's antibody test qualifies her for the treatment. We are against the clock as Zolgensma is only available to children under the age of two years. <br /><br /><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Little Livie’s Story</strong></span><br /><br />Little Livie was born on the 26th August 2019. We have never felt a love like this. It was incredible for us to see our first child smile, laugh and babble for the first time and watch her develop her little bright, affectionate and loving personality. Livie brings such joy and happiness to our lives every day and her smile can brighten the whole room even on the rainiest Irish day.<br /><br />We grew concerned as Livie missed some of her development milestones. We contacted her GP and were eventually referred to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Our world changed forever on 9th April when little Livie was diagnosed with SMA type 1. This condition affects approximately one in every 10,000 babies. It had already been such a hard time for our family with the COVID-19 lockdown. Due to hospital policy on social distancing, Karen (Livie’s mum) was alone when given the diagnosis and Keith (Livie’s dad) was alone when he heard the diagnosis over the phone. It is something that will stay with us and our family for the rest of our lives. We were left devastated and one of the hardest parts of this process is being isolated without support from our family and friends during this difficult time.<br /><br />SMA does not affect Livie’s cognitive ability. She remains a bright, alert and bubbly little girl, curious about everything she sees and desperate to experience life. Livie’s smile and laugh are infectious. She loves engaging with people and wants to be in the thick of every conversation around her. Normal infections and illnesses such as a chest infection can be very serious for Livie, possibly life-threatening. The current COVID-19 pandemic is so worryingly dangerous for Livie. Karen will be Livie’s full time carer as Livie needs support all day and every day. Her days and weeks are busy with medical appointments and check-ups.<br /><br />Livie has received her first dose of another treatment called Spinraza through a lumbar puncture in Ireland. We remain hopeful that Spinraza will prolong Livie’s life and allow Livie to gain a degree of head control and sit with extra support. We have been advised that Livie will still need respiratory and feeding intervention to survive. She is already struggling with her breathing and coughing. She needs to wear an oxygen mask every night. This is very uncomfortable for Livie and she struggles to sleep with it. It is very unlikely that Livie will ever stand or walk.<br /><br />We are fundraising for Zolgensma because we could never afford to pay for this treatment by ourselves. Our dream for Livie is to give her the best chance at life possible. Zolgensma is our best hope to do this. If we are unable to raise enough funds to pay for little Livie’s treatment, we will put all donations towards Livie’s care with the hope of giving her the most comfortable and happy life possible.

Oscar’s Mother’s Day Fundraiser

#BravelikeEmmeline <br /><br />We are Billy Holland and Lanlih Keane, proud parents to the bravest little girl Emmeline. We are trying to raise money for very sick children in Ireland and the facilities that are required to support them and their families. We will split all proceeds between:<br />-Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin<br />-Cork University Hospital (Children's wards)<br />-Ronald McDonald House<br /><br />Emmeline was welcomed into the world on 19th November 2018 and our lives were filled with so much joy. She was diagnosed with a heart defect and later transferred to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin when other health issues started to emerge. Emmeline was only three weeks old when we were given the devastating news that she would live a short life. We asked to bring Emmeline to Cork to live out her remaining days at home. <br /><br />Our world shattered and it was hard to know what to say or do. We decided that we needed to be brave like Emmeline. This was not about us as parents, this was about Emmeline and Emmeline’s life. We wanted to live each day to the fullest, Emmeline deserved it. It was not easy and at times the devastation was overwhelming. But we received so much support. The teams in the two hospitals that expertly managed her care, didn’t just care for Emmeline, they cared for us as a family of 3. They saw us go through the darkest of days, days that no family of a newborn should be faced with. <br /><br />We took every opportunity to have a normal family life, even when we were living in hospital. Emmeline loved to be cuddled, tickled and kissed. She gave us so many smiles and laughs. Some days we would forget that Emmeline was very sick, they had to be talking about someone else because this little girl was so full of life! But her health started to deteriorate quickly in May 2019, and she passed away peacefully on the 18th May 2019, just one day shy of 6 months old. Our hearts are broken and can never be fully healed. <br /><br />We never knew the community of support required for families of very sick children. We want to help other children like Emmeline. Brave like Emmeline Holland

May I introduce Emily, Paul, Pippa and Aiden McNamee. 5 years ago their world was turned upside down when at the age of 3 months their baby boy Aiden had his first seizure. Unfortunately this was not an isolated incident as Aiden’s seizures continued and the nightmare continued. It was the beginning of a horrible journey that would deeply impact every aspect of their lives. A year later Aiden was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome which is a rare and catastrophic, drug resistant form of epilepsy that can bring on fatal seizures and which also requires 24 hour care. Currently there is no cure for Dravet Syndrome. Over the next couple of years most of their time and energy was spent caring for Aiden and fighting to secure the best possible treatments and resources to allow their son live as full a life as possible. Aiden is a happy affectionate child who is full of life. He loves to play, laugh and generally mess about like the proper little boy that he is.<br /><br />Like many parents, who have children with unique needs, they experienced the difficulty in securing a school place for their son. Emily and Paul successfully fought to get Aiden full hours in a school that could cater for his needs and also which was close to their home and to an ambulance bay. For Emily and Paul, their little boy starting school was a massive milestone in their life. Monday, 2nd September 2019, was a monumental day for Emily and Paul as Aiden started in the same school as his big sister Pippa. You can just imagine how proud, relieved and excited they were with this achievement. <br /><br />Sadly, that evening, Emily suffered a cardiac arrest while home with her 6 year old daughter Pippa. The quick reactions of Pippa was just fantastic in seeking help and contacting the emergency services which saved Emily’s life. Emily was taken to hospital, where she remains in ICU in a critical condition, fighting for her life, ever since. <br /><br />With Emily fighting to recover consciousness and Aiden needing constant care and a little girl who is trying to come to terms with what has happened, Paul is now trying to be there for and care for the three people he loves more than anything in the world. Even with the help and support of both Paul and Emily’s families, their friends and Aiden’s nurses it is both a horrendous and extremely difficult time in their lives. <br /><br />This page has been set up by Paul’s friends to raise much needed funds. As Emily was Aiden’s full time carer, the family now have the added financial strain of paying for the extra care needs for Aiden while Paul tries to hold down his job and spend time by Emily’s bedside. The funds raised will pay for increased child care costs, other medical and family expenses arising from their situation, future treatment/care that will be required for Emily and please God to adapt their home if and when Emily reaches a stage where she can come home. <br /><br />All donations no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated. Sadly, Baxter hasn't been well lately. What started out as a slightly concerning case of yellowing pupils has turned out to be something much worse.<br /><br />Following four weeks of illness (almost all of it spent in Crumlin Children's Hospital), Baxter has been diagnosed with SCID (severe combined immunodeficiency) a congenital auto-immune disease; something that will require radical treatment in the form of chemotherapy &amp; bone marrow transplant. To make matters worse, the treatment for Baxter's condition is not available in Ireland.<br /><br />Baxter will need to travel to the Great North Children's Hospital, in Newcastle, England in the coming months. The Great North Children's Hospital is one of only two units in the entire UK (and Ireland) which perform bone marrow transplants for children who were born with severe immune deficiencies. The treatment itself will initially involve aggressive chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant, and long periods of isolation.  A horrible thing for anyone to face; especially a six and a half year old.<br /><br />Beside Baxter every step of the way on this harrowing journey will be Kenneth, Baxter's fantastic father. Heartbreakingly, the two boys will have to face the journey without Baxter's mum, Lynn, who passed away following a tragic accident earlier this year.<br /><br />As you can imagine, treatment of this magnitude and severity comes at a heavy cost. Made even more costly due to it occurring outside the State. So, to assist with this financial burden we have set up this GoFundMe page.<br /><br />It is truly devastating that Baxter is going through this right now and asking for financial assistance isn't easy. However, any support at all is deeply appreciated and will go a long way to giving a little boy back his life.

Baxter the Brave

Zoe is a bright, beautiful and brave three year old girl. She loves making her baby sister Holly laugh, her friends, playschool, Sylvanian Families, reading storybooks, singing, playgrounds and wearing pretty dresses and hairbands . <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/41135098_1565082912758730_r.jpeg" alt="41135098_1565082912758730_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />On the 15th of July, Zoe’s parents, Carmel and Alan, received the extremely sudden and devastating news that Zoe has a rare and aggressive malignant brain tumour. Zoe immediately underwent emergency surgery to have the fluid drained around her brain. Within a matter of weeks Zoe will have undergone five surgeries in Temple Street to remove the tumour and prepare her for the next stage of treatment. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/41135098_1565082177706000_r.jpeg" alt="41135098_1565082177706000_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />Once her medical team are satisfied, Zoe will immediately transfer to Crumlin Hospital for Chemotherapy to begin as soon as possible. Following the Chemotherapy, Zoe will require Proton therapy (radiation) in Germany. <br /><br />We are fundraising to give Zoe’s family financial freedom to focus on the things that really matter while Zoe is undergoing treatment. Zoe’s care will be hospital based and someone needs to be with her 24/7. <strong><iframe media_type="0" media_id="WAfnFC4GFW0" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/WAfnFC4GFW0/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe>Hope For Evie<br /><br /></strong>Our daughter Evie born on 18th October 2018, she was perfect in every way.<br /><br />At 5 hours old, Evie was admitted to the special care unit with hypoglycemia symmetric. <strong>IUGR</strong><br /><br />3 days old we took Evie home, thinking everything was ok and we had a perfectly healthy baby girl, Evie struggled to gain weight and at her 6 week check-up raised alarms to the doctors, to be <strong>microcephalic</strong>.<br /><br />March 7th, the day our lives changed, as we faced the worst possible news. Evie's missing a large part of her<strong> X-Chromosome </strong>and was diagnosed with a <strong>RARE</strong> condition called...<strong>Microcephaly with Pontine Cerebellar Hypoplasia, with mutation on her cask gene. </strong>This can cause a wide variety of problems that include seizure disorder, development delays, intellectual disabilities, facial distortions. Girls born with a defect on their cask gene, often do not walk or have extreme difficulty walking and are often non-verbal.<br /><br />Evie has spent many day/nights in hospital.<br /><br />Evie requires physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech &amp; language therapy. <strong><br /><br /></strong>Evie's condition is so rare and not by any means curable, with very little knowledge in Ireland, we looked into a lot of research to try and<strong> get our little girl the care she needs.<br /></strong><br />Found a doctor, an assistant professor in <strong>Virginia</strong> and the leader of perhaps the only research team in the world, that explores the role of the cask gene in neurological disorders.
