<div>I never imagined I would have to write something like this, and the last few days have been a nightmare I keep wishing I could wake up from. On the morning of Sunday, March 16, 2025, I received the devastating news that my youngest brother, Salvador, whom we lovingly called "Chavita or Chava," had been shot multiple times. Despite all efforts to save him, he tragically succumbed to his wounds in Reno, Nevada.

<div>As his next of kin, I took the earliest available flight from New York to Nevada to handle the unimaginable. This situation has been overwhelming and heartbreaking in every way. Our family is originally from Long Beach, California, and now, on top of grieving this tragic loss, I am facing the difficult challenge of relocating his remains and making funeral arrangements. The weight of it all is truly unbearable.

<div>For those who may not know our story, my three brothers and I lost our mother, Irma, in 2001. She was only 36 years old, leaving behind four young children: Fernando (18), Juan Alejandro (15), myself, Ayydé (13), and Salvador, the youngest, at just 12 years old. That year will always mark the most painful moment of our lives. On October 1, 2001, when we lost our mother, a piece of all of us died with her. We weren’t just grieving her loss—we were also separated from each other. Salvador, being the baby of the family, took it the hardest. His world was shattered, not only because he lost his mother but because he lost the only sense of security he had left: his siblings.

<div>The pain of losing our mother and being apart from each other robbed us of our adolescence. For Salvador, it made life incredibly difficult. Despite his struggles, he always carried love, light and humor in his heart. I know how much he longed to be near our mother again, and I want to honor that wish by laying him to rest as close as possible to her.

<div>I need financial support to bring Salvador home to Long Beach and lay him to rest next to our mother, where he always wanted to be. The burial plot alone in that garden costs over $13,000—and that’s not including anything else such as funeral and relocation expenses. Like many families, we were not financially prepared for this tragedy, and my sole focus right now is bringing my brother home, giving him the proper services, and ensuring he is laid to rest with love and dignity.

Help Lay My Brother Salvador "Chavita" to Rest

My mom, Beatrice Renteria has been diagnosed with a lymphoma cancer called Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). Her oncologist also found spots of DLBCL around her kidneys and abdomen area. This is a nightmare. Our family is devastated as we, as a family, endured my nephew who battled Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer 2 years ago. We will again as a family beat cancer and support my mom through her journey. Her oncologist put her on an aggressive chemo plan. Her chemo is a combination of 5 different drugs. She started her chemo today. <br /><br />My mom is a kind loving person to not only her family but to everyone she meets. Many of Downey residents know my mom from working at Rio Hondo in the cafeteria and playground. My mom would be the one to watch the kids until their parents came and picked them up. She would tie the kids shoe laces, brush the hair of little girls and she carried extra bows for them too. The children all called her “grandma” she was the grandma to many kids who are now grown adults and she still recognizes them around Downey and will stop and say hello. <br /><br />My father who is the sole financial provider is by her side and this diagnosis is going to financially break them both. My mom has been hospitalized for a week and my father has not left her side. We are asking for all the prayers we can get and if you are able to financially help, any amount would be greatly appreciated. Our family has been destroyed once before by cancer and we are ready to fight it again. My mom will get through this and we look forward to celebrating her life after cancer. <br /><br />Please share our story. It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved brother and son Carlos Zacarias. He fought a long and hard battle with depression but in the end, his thoughts were too much and he took his life. This has been a difficult time for his family and everyone who has loved him as we have. We were not expecting this tragic event and so we have no money put aside to cover it, any donations are greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, please share, that's a great way to help us, too. Although we are all saddened by this, Carlos would have wanted us to continue living our lives for him. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. <p>Hello Everyone, <br /><br />I am looking at this blank screen really not sure where to start. <br /><br />I am a single mother of four beautiful children; 3 girls and 1 boy. <br /><br />They say when life throws you lemons, make lemonade. I can firmly tell you, the last few years my family and I have been able to master making this famous so called "lemonade." </p>
<p>A few years ago, one of my daughters was diagnosed with Lymphoma. The worst pain any parent could endure is seeing any one of your children in pain. As a family unit, we fought hard and my daughter fought even harder. Day after day, week after weeks, month after months- Claudia was determined to be cured. I can finally say my daughter is cancer free! <br /><br />Just when we thought the worst was over, my youngest of the bunch, Alex, was diagnosed with scleroderma. <br /><br />What is scleroderma? Don't worry, I had never heard of it either. <br /><br />It all just seems like a blur when the doctor started explaining to us that my youngest daughter suffered from scleroderma. To be honest, all I can remember is hearing "there is no cure for this disease." <br /><br />I see my daughter, who is an amazing tattoo artist, feeling like her worlds being turned upside down.  This disease starts with the hands and goes from there. <br /><br />I don't know where to turn to and I am just hoping that theres a possibility that just one person may relate and want to help. <br /><br />Being a single mom is hard- very hard. I have somehow managed to work so many side jobs to be able to afford our home, food and everything else that comes along with motherhood. </p>
<p><br />With medical bills already piled up, to almost losing my home and now this; I'm asking if you can help, please help. Beating Scleroderma with Alex

Thank you for reading our story.  We want everyone first to know the signs of childhood cancer and pass it along to your loved ones before we speak of our son's Cancer it's important you know the 8 signs of Childhood Cancer 1. Continued, unexplained weight loss 2. Headaches with vomiting in the morning 3. Increased swelling or persistent pain in bones joint 4. Lump or mass in abdomen, neck or elsewhere. 5. Development of a whitish appearance in the pupil of the eye 6. Recurrent fevers not due to infection 7. Excessive bruising or bleeding 8. Noticeable paleness or prolonged tiredness.  <br />On 11/07/16 we noticed our sons right eye was swollen. We thought it was allergies. We took him to an eye doctor who also thought it was allergies and sent us home with medication.  On 11/17/16 we took him back and he was diagnosed with Proptosis (protrusion of the eye). He was scheduled to see an neurologist on 11/21/16 but he never made it to that appointment.  On 11/19/16 my son came to me and said his eye was hurting and he sees double.  I rushed him to the ER and that is when our nightmare began.  He was rushed to a  CT scan which found a mass, we were then ambulanced to Kaisers Childrens hospital and more tests were done.  The mass was then explained to us as a tumor and a biopsy needs to be done.  His eye was getting bigger by the day.  There was high concern at the rate the tumor was growing and I will never forget the words of the surgeon after the biopsy "this is serious. prepare yourself".  I knew i was going to be told he has cancer.  By this time we were so sick to our stomaches when a doctor would come to our room.  It was bad news after bad news and we were living in a world that did not seem real.  On 11/22/16 our son was diagnosed with a  Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer in the orbit of his right eye.  We were destroyed.  Emotions that i never knew i had or were even possible happened.  He was taken immediatly to have surgery to get a PICC line to have chemo adminsitered right away. He was hospitalized for 10 days before he was able to be an outpatient. Radiation and chemo started immediately.    Our lifes have changed forever.  The life we once had is no longer. There are lifelong side affects to the chemo and radiation.   We didn't expect the expenses that come with  cancer.  There's medication that's not covered by insurance, daily expenses due to traveling to and from appointments and eating out since we have little to no time to be home for dinner.  We are reaching out for prayers and any small donations you can help with.  Most importantly please read and keep in your mind the 8 signs of childhood cancer.  No one should experience the life changes that come with battling cancer.  All our family is affected. Hello, my name is Marlan Franklyn. You probably know me as the UPS guy (maybe from Casey Neistat's YouTube videos). I am seeking your financial support on behalf of my sister, Merlex Franklyn. She is battling diabetes and severe kidney disease in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the island in the Caribbean where we are from. Due to the severity of her illness, Merlex has lost the function of her kidneys. As a result she must receive dialysis twice a week. <br /><br /><br />Like so many, my sister does not have medical insurance. There is no public facility in St. Vincent to help with the cost of her treatment. And so, the responsibility has fallen on my siblings and I to do what we can to help Merlex. However, over the past three years this extra financial responsibility has become more and more difficult for my siblings and I to manage on our own. <br /><br /><br />We are dedicated to taking care of our sister and others suffering with the same condition in St. Vincent.
