I Was Hit by a Truck on Christmas Eve — Both Legs Are Broken, I Have A Loooong Road to Recovery Hi everyone, my name is Simon. On Christmas Eve, my life changed in an instant. After grocery shopping, I was walking back to my car in a Vons parking lot when a lifted truck turned into me and ran me over. I remember looking directly at the driver and believing he saw me too and thats when he turned into me and caused very serious injuries to both of my legs. My Injuries As a result of being hit and run over: Both legs are broken My left leg was run over, causing four fractures extending into my knee. I suffered a torn meniscus My left tibia is fractured in 4 places. My right leg is also broken so using a walker or crutches is going to take some doing but Im here for it and I will conquer this no matter the pain or the cost. I have already undergone extensive reconstructive surgery and I will face a long rehabilitation process to learn how to walk again. I am still hospitalized in the trauma center at Inland Valley Hospital, and I am incredibly grateful for the care I’m receiving. What This Means for My Life Before this accident, I worked as a heavy equipment operator, a job I loved that I can no longer do while recovering. Right now, I cannot walk, I cannot work, and I cannot take care of myself the way I used to. Recovery will take months, not weeks I am determined to fight my way back. There is no amount of pain or rehab I am unwilling to go through to regain my independence and my ability to work again. I promise I will work harder in recovery than I ever have before. But determination alone doesn’t pay rent or keep the lights on. And thats why I really need your help. This is incredibly difficult for me to do. I have always prided myself on being strong and self-reliant. My family is facing their own challenges right now, and I’ve always been the one they turn to when something needs to be handled and I need to be back in that role, providing help, not asking for it. Right now, I need help just to get by while I heal. Your support will help with: Rent and basic living expenses. Utilities and food. Transportation to medical appointments. Recovery related needs during rehabilitation. Staying stable while I focus on healing. Thank You If you’re able to donate, share this page, or even just send a message of encouragement — it truly means more than I can express. This is not where I thought I’d be, but with your help, I believe I can get through this and come back stronger. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me through the hardest chapter of my life. With gratitude, Simon
