Update: Matthew’s Story Is Being Shared ❤️
As we continue preparing to bring Matthew home to Bloomington, something incredibly meaningful has happened: Matthew’s story has now been published by the Indiana Daily Student.
My mom and I had the opportunity to sit down and talk about Matthew as a whole person — not just his addiction, homelessness, or the circumstances surrounding his death, but the son, brother, friend, cook, manager, music lover, comedian, and lifelong Hoosier he was.
That has been one of the most important things to us since losing him: making sure people understand that Matthew was more than the hardest years of his life.
He was loud, funny, stubborn, protective, intelligent, generous, deeply loved, and completely unforgettable. He could make friends anywhere. He loved food, music, animals, Bloomington, Indiana University, and his family. He struggled deeply, but he also loved deeply.
Matthew’s life mattered.
As we move closer to his final goodbye and permanent placement at Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, we are continuing to raise funds for his cremation, transportation, urn, memorial service, inurnment, and permanent resting place. Every donation and every share helps relieve some of that financial burden from our mother, Destiny, as she grieves her firstborn son.
If you have donated, shared, sent us a memory, or simply taken the time to learn who Matthew was — thank you for seeing him.
Please continue sharing his story.

More than his addiction.
More than his hardest years.
More than the circumstances of his death.
Chubbs was here.
Matthew mattered.
Help us honor him. ❤️

Our family will be wearing crimson and cream instead of traditional black mourning colors in honor of Matthew’s lifelong love for Indiana University.
We bleed red for the Hoosiers, and we will be mourning one of the biggest Hoosiers we knew. ❤️
