What they care about

I'm a single mother of 3 beautiful kids that I love more than they will ever know. I love my family and will do anything for.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden I can focus on healing and on giving my mom a proper and peaceful farewell. Your generosity will also help provide some stability for her daughter during this time.

I'm raising funds to honor my mom, Teresa Louise Windham, and give her a dignified resting place. In June 2026, Teresa was found deceased in a vacant dirt lot in Palmdale, CA. Her body was in an advanced state of decomposition when she was discovered, and the pain of losing her is overwhelming. I am my mom's only surviving child. I have already lost my brother and my father, and now with my mom gone, I feel more alone than ever. I never got the chance to have the closeness with her that I hoped for, and that grief makes this loss even harder to carry. Even through everything she went through in life, my mom was a fighter, and I want to honor her with care and dignity. Right now, I urgently need help preparing for the expenses ahead because her body has not been released yet. Donations will help cover funeral expenses, a memorial service, transportation to the funeral home, and a headstone. I am trying to be ready as soon as arrangements can move forward. If you are able to help, any donation would mean so much to me during this painful time. If you cannot give, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping my family in your prayers. Thank you for helping me honor my mom, Teresa.

Hi everyone, I started this x fundraiser on GoFundMe and would really appreciate your support. Whether you donate or share the fundraiser, any kind of help counts.

My name is Jessica Windham, and I am writing this with a shattered heart. In June 2026, my mom, Teresa Louise Windham, was found in a vacant dirt lot in Palmdale, CA. Because her body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition, the pain of losing her under these circumstances is completely overwhelming. I am now the only one left in my immediate family—my brother was tragically murdered in Palmdale in 2000, and my dad passed away from lung cancer in 2002. With my mom now gone, I feel more alone than ever. Growing up, I never really got the chance to know her. She ran away from home at just 14 years old to escape severe abuse from both of her parents. The person who was supposed to protect her—her father—hurt her deeply, and when she turned to her mother for help, she was blamed instead. While my dad's side took my mom in off the streets and then raised my brother and me, I always held onto the hope that my mom and I would become closer and getting a chance to meet her grandchildren and forming a relationship with us but someone took that chance away from us when they left her in a vacant dirt lot. Despite the immense trauma she endured, my mom was a fighter. She loved all animals, and she loved her two children. Because of the deep scars from her childhood, she felt that we would be better off with family than with her raising my brother and me. All my life, I just wanted her love, and I wish I could have told her that I loved her unconditionally, no matter what and I understand now more ever because of my own children. Right now, I am facing the daunting task of covering her funeral expenses and memorial arrangements alone. Her body has not been released yet by the coroner, but I am trying to do everything I can to be financially ready for when she is.
My name is Jessica Windham, and I am writing this as the only surviving member of my immediate family. On June 9, 2026, my mother was found deceased in Palmdale, California, under tragic circumstances that are currently under active investigation. If I am being entirely honest, my mom and I were not close as I’d hoped we would be before God called her home. I was not raised by her, and because of that, our relationship was complicated. For a long time, I always believed and hoped that we would have more time in the future to heal, talk, and finally get closer. Someone cruelly took that choice and that time away from us when they ended her life. This is not the first time stolen time has devastated my life. My father has already passed away, and back in 2000, right before my summer vacation, my brother was also murdered right here in Palmdale. I was waiting for school to end so my summer could start, so I could finally meet and hug him in person for the very first time in my life because he was taken from my grandmother's custody when I was just a baby, and because my dad was determined to find my brother and bring him home and try to rebuild his family and make it whole again after years of separation, it was all coming together. We started talking on the phone, and we became so close like we were never apart. Our summer was coming fast, so we started making summer plans. Until that day when that new piece that had just been put back in was ripped out because I was no longer going to meet him, but instead saying goodbye to my brother, who was taken from us again. Now, as her only living child, that responsibility of laying my mother to rest falls entirely on my shoulders. Because of the tragic circumstances of her passing, my mother's body was already in an advanced state of decomposition when she was found. This heartbreaking reality means that a traditional viewing or open-casket funeral is not possible, and my children will be saying goodbye to their grandmother, whom they never met in person but had spoken to a few times on the phone. My ultimate goal is to fulfill what I know she would have wanted: to bring her back to Lancaster to be laid to rest alongside my dad or my brother at Joshua Memorial Park. After a lifetime of separation, distance, and violent tragedy, your donations will directly help me bring our immediate family back together in one final, peaceful resting place. Because we were distant, I am completely unprepared for the sudden financial burden of these final expenses. We will be moving forward with a direct cremation or immediate closed-casket burial through the mortuary, followed by a graveside service to place her with our family. Every single dollar raised will go directly toward the fees at Joshua Memorial Park to make this family reunion possible. Any amount you can give will help me give her a dignified resting place and bring a small piece of closure to a lifetime of family tragedy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, and supporting me through this.
