People affected by conflict around the world need us more than ever. Behind every statistic is a person, a parent, a child, a family whose life has been changed through no choice of their own. When people are forced from their homes, lose access to food, healthcare, education and livelihoods, they need more than our sympathy. They need our action. That is why the teams behind Haboba's House (Sudan) and Fatima's Family (Gaza) are coming together to raise awareness and vital funds for those displaced and impacted by the ongoing humanitarian crises in both countries. Together, we stand behind one message: "One Call, Freedom For All." How the fundraised money will be used The circumstances may be different, but the humanitarian needs are painfully similar, and even more difficult for people living with disabilities. The funds raised will be shared equally to support those in Sudan and Gaza, helping provide vital assistance to people and families facing these devastating circumstances. All donations will go towards: Providing appropriate shelter, such as tents Repairs to homes, schools and community buildings Food and water Hospital treatment and medicines Warm clothes and firewood for the winter months to widows and orphans. Hello My name is Fatima from North Gaza and I’m trying everything I can to feed my family but life is getting harder since losing my husband and my father. I live with my three children: Maryam (10), Amina (8) and Muhammad (3) who has learning & physical disabilities from birth. I also care for my mum who has heart disease and my two younger sisters. My sisters walk four hours a day to-and-from their jobs, work eight hours but due to current conditions, the pay is not enough to meet our basic needs. We are asking for your help so we can have the basics in life, feel like we are seen as human beings and trying to enjoy whatever is left of our lives with a bit of dignity. Your donations of any size will make a big difference to our lives and we hope you can help us to pay towards. Our most urgent needs are food and medicine. If we are blessed, then we would also like to be able to buy the following with your help: • New tents to replace our damaged tents that leak and do not protect us against the rain and cold • Buying clothes and shoes for growing children • Firewood and tent furnishings to help keep us warm in the winter months When my father was alive, we were able to share the little we had with the orphans around us but now, we do not have enough for our own family. I pray peace and good times come back to our land and to the whole world. I’ve had to take on many roles to keep my family smiling and happy but the destruction, sounds of war along with the intense hunger we feel, makes it very difficult to live. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for anything you can do to help my family, Fatima HOW THE £10,000 will be used • £1,500 to buy two new tents for my family to replace our damaged ones • £1,200 to buy a year’s worth of medicine for my mother’s heart condition • £2,000 to buy firewood to keep warm in the winter and use for cooking fuel • £1,000 to buy clothes for growing young children and clothes for the year • The remaining money will be used to feed my family, pay unexpected medical bills and support others around us that are hungry. A note from the Fundraiser in the UK I was blessed to meet Fatima’s father (Abu Fatima) last year before he passed away. A kind, gentle and loving man who always thought about orphans like they were his own children. We spoke many times through a translator about the value of caring for the most vulnerable in society. Before passing away, Abu Fatima asked me for one thing: to try my best to make sure his family did not go hungry after he died. A normal, but heart-breaking request from a Father, Grandfather and Husband. Unfortunately, I do not have the depths of pockets to do this by myself so I created this fundraiser in confidence that my fellow brothers and sisters in humanity will be able to support. Any amount will make a difference. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity and may you be increased in all forms of goodness for your support. Uncle Adnan, United Kingdom
