Hello! My name is Adrian and I am setting this up on my friend Lunora's behalf.
After a long 2 years working towards building experience in forest conservation in Northern California, Lunora's career options have become starkly limited due to the current administration's dismantling of federal agencies, including the Forest Service, laying off thousands of Forest Service workers. While she is equally versed and skilled as a freelancer in art department, the industry in LA is unfavorably difficult. So Lunora then moved in with family temporarily, but this quickly became unsustainable due to their adamant misgendering, deadnaming, and overall transphobic rhetoric towards their daughter. This was not a place where anyone would thrive. She spent many nights sleeping in her car until I finally encouraged her to come back to California to be in a supportive environment with her friends and community.
For the last month, Lunora has been staying with me. I recently moved into a studio and have been recovering from top surgery, and she has been such a wonderful friend to me during this time. While it has been symbiotic and obviously wonderful to spend so much time with one of my closest friends, she deserves a real bed of her own again, the financial comfort to withstand long interview processes for better fitting jobs, and so much more. During a time where our trans community is under immense scrutiny and discrimination, basic needs like housing and food security are some of the first things to be threatened.
Lumi is an extraordinarily kind, funny, generous, hard-working, and incredible person who has given me the shirt off her back many times when I have been at my lowest points in life. She has continually been a warm and loving light in the lives of so many of us and I want us to rally together to help her get back on her feet! Funds from this GoFundMe would go directly to her to help cover a security deposit/move-in costs, healthcare, and basic needs during the next few months while she gets back on her feet again.
