What they care about

I believe community to be humanity’s greatest strength. I believe that our bonding together will ultimately save us from ourselves.

I have hit a small plateau... I have had such a vigorous start to my healing and so this small "settling in" of sorts is expected. I will settle in to this pause as well. I have pulled my casts for more mobilization equipment. It is so necessary to get early movement. It reduces edema, adhesions, and helps align scar tissue. There is a great book on my shelf that I read back when I was in massage school called 'The Anatomy of Change" by Strozzi Heckler. It fell off my bookshelf into my hands at just the right time. It is hitting all the points my mind has been going to- good stuff! The cross eyed Health system is struggling to keep up with my healing and known PT protocols... but I will keep at it like Goo-Gone to gum on upholstery. I wanted to recognize the unbelievable support I've received... I spoke with Matt Basher- kind of wondering why this help came out. He said some deeply hitting words that still bring the water to my eyes. (can't really seem to make it too long without that happening, though- maybe it's the head trauma). Honestly, I try to push down the significance of the help. But Man, It's a Big deal! I have put some jobs down due to all this and without this help, I would be absolutely screwed. So, from the entirety of me- my humble thanks. I love all the fun that folks have had with my image... it's actually pretty inspiring.
The healing has begun! my physical body is ready to go with the healing process. My mental and cognitive systems still seem a bit wack. Still a bit unstable on my feet though I think it's improving. I have some appointments scheduled to address these concerns. So far the "battle" with insurance and admin (A.I) has been, unfortunately, typical these days- a battle. I have begun the process of transferring the amazing donations from all of you to their respective settling recipients. I have had some really terrific food brought to me by some local friends and have gotten my fridge stocked with nutrition rich foods. -so important! I continue to visit the notion that there is a momentous change occurring now- not just for me, but our entire shared experience. It has been such an intense couple of months for me and my family, that the reports of change and shift from others around me don't seem to surprise me. I am wanting to encourage us all to be in connection, stay in connection, and get connected to our people. The need for getting our 'teams' together seems paramountly important to me. I have understood for a long time that we can't really do it on our own... even though I am stubbornly independent. My darkened heart is cracked and softening. I have also been formulating some ideas of gatherings and celebrations to help and encourage our bonding. With this I will need my people as well. I would like us all to share our incredible talents with each other so that the unity can be felt in order to overcome any hurdle we may all face. It's a pretty wild world out there now and we need each other to face it. It'll be a while until I'm back to carpentry and cabinets, playing music, driving and motorcycles- but I'll get there! Aho!- all you Human Beings

The bumps that knocked me off a motorcycle are softening. I have gone through two surgeries. I had to self discharged from Harborview to stay with my brother at his house, and have now returned to my own home in Bremerton. While none of it has been easy, I have been able to remain positive and to allow the love that seems to be all around me grow within me. I have so much gratitude for my community and the people who have seemingly come out of the woodwork. I have been learning lesson upon lesson in this two week start to my recovery. I am learning firsthand that when people come together to help an individual the power of the many seems limitless.
