Oscar Miguel is a dedicated monitor tech at Antelope Valley Medical Center and a dear friend of mine. He has always been someone who looks out for others, both at work and in his personal life. Now, he is facing an incredibly tough challenge: Oscar has been diagnosed with oral cancer for the second time. This diagnosis means he will soon undergo a complex surgery that will require intubation, oral reconstruction, and likely a tracheostomy. The road ahead will be long and difficult, but Oscar is determined to fight through it with the same strength and resilience he’s shown throughout his life. As Oscar prepares for surgery and the recovery that follows, he will be unable to work and will face mounting medical bills, daily living expenses, and the cost of healthcare premiums. These financial burdens add extra stress to an already overwhelming situation. By coming together to support Oscar, we can help ease some of these worries and allow him to focus on healing and regaining his health. Thank you so much for taking the time to read Oscar’s story, for your donations, and for sharing this fundraiser with others who care. Every bit of support means the world to Oscar and to all of us who care about him. Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference in his journey to recovery.
Update: Liz has found a low-income senior living facility near her dialysis center. She moves in the 1st week of May and will only need to sleep in her car 9 more days. Any help is greatly appreciated to help put down her deposit. God Bless! =================================================== Elizabeth "Liz" Alexander is a 65-year-old dialysis patient who recently found herself unexpectedly homeless, along with her loyal dog, Coconut. Liz is facing a life-threatening situation: she has a new indwelling dialysis catheter in her chest and must undergo dialysis three times a week. The harsh winters and scorching summers of California's Antelope Valley make homelessness especially dangerous for someone in her condition. Despite these challenges, Liz remains positive and grateful for every bit of help she receives. Currently, Liz is staying in a hotel that offers her a safe place to rest and meals each day, while conveniently located near her dialysis treatment center. Her new nurse friends care for Coconut while Liz is in treatment. We do our best to support her with accommodations when we can, but our resources are limited. The funds raised here will help keep Liz and Coconut safely housed while we work together to navigate government programs and search for low-income senior apartments, which often have long waitlists. Liz is at her most vulnerable, but she never stops smiling and expressing gratitude for the kindness shown to her. Our goal is to secure at least three months of safe housing for Liz and Coconut, giving her the time and stability she needs to find a more permanent solution. No amount is too small—every donation or share helps keep Liz and Coconut safe and brings us closer to our goal. Thank you for your kindness and support. God bless.
