What they care about

Hello! My name is Sarah and I'm helping to raise funds for "A Better Life Animal Sanctuary' in York, Western Australia, to purchase replacement sheep shears. A Better Life Animal Sanctuary care for over 100 abused, neglected or homeless farm animals, including 42 sheep. They rely on volunteers and donations to help feed and provide care for the resident animals and as a registered charity, all of their funds go back into their direct care and rehabilitation. The 42 sheep that live on the property can be prone to fly strike and even though they are shorn by a professional shearer twice a year, the helpers at the Sanctuary need their own shears to shear the sheep's bums during winter to prevent fly strike, to help remove burrs, and to prevent wool blindness which happens to certain breeds of sheep. It's an important tool to maintain the health and happiness of the much loved resident sheep. The existing shears were second hand, old and loud and have recently burnt out. Please consider donating, however small an amount, so they can purchase a shiny new pair and continue maintaining the harmony of the flock! With great thanks, Sarah
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am raising money for Greener Pastures Sanctuary, which is currently home to over 160 rescued animals of many different species, including, pigs, cows, sheep, goats and many more on 100 acres in Waroona, Western Australia. All of these animals have been neglected, abandoned, mistreated, abused and rescued from slaughter, and now live their natural lives out in peace. What many people don’t realise is that within our farming agricultural industry many animals fall through the cracks - whether it’s falling or jumping off a truck on the way to an abattoir, escaping through a fence and becoming feral in the bush, getting injured out on the land, being rejected by the mother or too young to survive the elements, confiscated through mis-treatment or perhaps just abandoned in an unused farm shed... these animals need somewhere to go. There are only a handful of farms and very kind people in the Perth region who are in a position to do this yet they receive very little help. Without them, you’d find dead sheep by the freeway, too many feral animals ruining the native bushland, and plenty of suffering. A civilised society asks us to look after both vulnerable humans and animals. Greener Pastures Sanctuary is one such place run by only one woman named Rachael and her young daughters; they work very hard and spend a lot of money caring for over 160 rescued and rehabilitated animals for their entire natural lives. Greener Pastures is a family run farm, with the help of occasional volunteers, Rachael and her two daughters manage the mammoth job of daily feeding and caring for all of these animals. As the property is remote, one of the farm's biggest challenges is finding regular volunteers to help. I am raising money to help Rachael purchase an Express Portable cabin to turn into accommodation so volunteers can stay on the property and provide more sustained and regular help. A cabin costs $21,500. Please help by donating, no matter how small, it all adds up. Thanks so much!
