Save My Family by Escaping Gaza's War Before It's Too Late

<div>Tia Bunny’s Mobil medico has served 50k people since May. 60k miles running down dirt roads into migrant camps that have no other medical services and EMS has refused to enter. This SUV has served as medical office, clinic and ambulance in Jacumba CA. I am aware of many whose lives were saved in the outdoor detention camps due to tias tireless seven day a week services in her SUV.

<div>This car has served as shelter from the rain for migrant children, it has been a changing station. It has warmed hypothermic people in freezing conditions. It has transported the sick and injured to emergency services. The rural dirt roads have taken its toll on the car. It’s taken 2k to keep it running in the last thirty days and is not expected to recover from damages caused by daily rural road wear and tear.

Help Nasser and Cas rebuild after a fire

<div>Beyonce Karungi is the co-founder of <a href="https://transequganda.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Trans Equality Uganda</a> (TEU) and a dedicated global LGBTQ rights activist. She tirelessly works to promote human rights, economic empowerment, and equal access to health and social services (including HIV prevention, care, treatment, and support) for transgender women and transgender sex workers in Uganda.

<div>Beyonce recently came to the U.S. to attend the UN Women Commission on the Status of Women conference and was scheduled to return to Uganda. Unfortunately, the early passing of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill by the Ugandan Parliament has made it dangerous for her to return. It is unlikely she would be allowed outside of the airport and with emboldened anti-LGBT sentiment, she fears <a href="https://legacy.lambdalegal.org/blog/20151118_beyonce" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">attacks like she has experienced in the past</a>.

<div>This fund was created to help her remain in the U.S. until she is able to safely return to Uganda and continue the fight for trans rights in her home country. She is currently on a short-term visa which doesn’t allow her to work or earn income in the U.S. She needs our support to enable her to revise her visa to allow for a longer, sustainable stay, and support her basic needs including food, airline change fees, routine and gender-affirming medical care. We are setting a goal of $5,000 to help support these needs so that she can continue to fight for trans rights from the U.S. until she can return to Uganda.

<div>In case you are not familiar with the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, formally known as Bill AHB23, it solidifies the criminalization of same-sex activity and seeks to eradicate LGBTQ activism while alienating its members from society. It has been widely condemned by numerous human rights advocates for its extreme prescriptions that include long-term imprisonment and the death penalty for the “promotion of homosexuality” and “aggravated homosexuality,” respectively, among other draconian measures. You can read more about the specifics <a href="https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/03/22/ugandan-parliament-passes-extreme-anti-lgbt-bill" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a> and virtually any major news outlet as it has drawn widespread global attention. Uganda has a long history with anti-LGBTQ measures with a <a href="https://www.hrw.org/news/2014/05/14/uganda-anti-homosexuality-acts-heavy-toll" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">similar bill</a> being passed in 2013 and then struck down in 2014. Hopefully, this legislation will suffer the same fate! Until then, please consider supporting Beyonce so she can continue fighting for trans rights and hopefully be a part of the change that will prevent bills like this from being passed ever again.

Support Trans Rights in Uganda by Helping Beyonce

<div>In March 2023 Ugandan MPs passed a bill imposing the death penalty for homosexuality. In the run up to the bill’s passing, a new wave of anti-gay animus has taken hold. In February alone more than 110 LGBTQ Ugandans reported incidents including arrests, sexual violence, evictions and public undressing to advocacy group SMUG. The bill further puts LGBTQ people at risk by threatening landlords who rent to them with imprisonment.

<div>Funded by international religious groups, newspapers, talk radio shows, and social media in Uganda have become saturated with hate speech and disinformation. These right wing western groups blur the line between homosexuality and pedophilia so that, in the public eye, the two have become virtually indistinguishable. With this deception, they manufacture moral panic around child protection rhetoric and mobilise it against LGBTQ people.
</div>

</div>
<div>We are a group of LGBTQ Ugandans and UK allies from the arts, electronic music and activist community who are rallying to directly support at risk individuals. Money raised in partnership with hashtagwhatnext, Ugly Duck, misery, and KALLIDA will go directly to those affected, paying for costs such as:

Uganda LGBTQ Emergency Fund

<p><strong>UPDATE: WE ARE RAISING MORE MONEY TO ALLOW THE PLANES TO KEEP DOING MORE TURNS.</strong><br /><br />We are coming to you in desperation to conduct an <strong>emergency flight rescue</strong> of 300+ Afghan souls. I have been working alongside humanitarian aid groups, decorated military veterans, and activists on the ground in Kabul, fighting to save people who otherwise have no chance at survival in the Taliban-occupied Kabul.<br /><br />The individuals in question are high-value targets - Afghan men and women who have worked as human rights lawyers, champions of Women’s and LGBTQ rights, journalists, government liaisons, artists, and interpreters - all of whom are at <strong>imminent risk of being executed by the Taliban,</strong> along with their families. We will be taking full family units.<br /><br />If these people do not get rescued as soon as possible, neither they nor their family will make it through the month. The Taliban have a KILL LIST and are going door to door, searching for these people and reportedly <strong>killing them on sight if found</strong>. Every one of these individuals on the manifest have been vetted.<br /><br />Due to the rapidly deteriorating situation in Kabul, this rescue mission will only be possible if $550,000 is raised to fuel 2 airplanes to fly into Kabul from a foreign country.  <strong>If we raise twice the amount ($1,100,000), we’ll do another run. There are enough people in need to make many round-trips with our two airplanes. We will continue multiplying as goals are met. </strong><br /><br />With help from people on the ground in Kabul, and the newfound security of the airport due to increased US presence — we have arranged for a <strong>safe onboarding process</strong>. All of the people who will be boarding the planes have been extensively vetted.<br /><br /><strong>Every $1,500 raised represents a seat on one of the planes, and a life saved.</strong><br /><br /><strong>Please share wide and far, as hundreds of lives are at stake.</strong><br /><br /><strong>FUNDING</strong><br /><br />The money will be paid to and distributed from Raven Advisory, LLC, based in NC.<br /><br />Any overages in funds raised beyond flights will be donated to the International Women’s Media Foundation, who are actively helping with this rescue effort + settlement, to help the people we rescue start a new life. <br /><br />Destinations have been secured to allow our planes safe passage + landing, and locations cannot be disclosed until the flights have arrived safely. The medical, academic and research communities are deeply saddened by his loss, as are the many individuals who counted Bonus among their most genuine and joyful friends. The Quintero family has faced unprecedented times due to a kitchen fire that started from a faulty air fryer. Luckily, everyone is ok but the apartment they stay at has received a fair amount of damage. <br /><br />They had renters insurance but it had lapsed and now need help in covering the expenses to repair the place. The costs have estimated to be around $4k according to the manager. <br /><br />Anthony Quintero is a husband, a father and a very good friend. He doesn't want to ask for help but we also do not want to see him have to fight that hard to pay for this accident they had no control over. We are so happy to hear that everyone is safe and no one got hurt. But the costs of the repair could cause them to get kicked out and have to find a new place for their family. Because of this we are needing to raise as much money as soon as possible.<br /><br />Please...if you can find it in your heart to help, please donate. While we have been able to secure legal counsel with the hopes of holding him accountable for his actions, legal fees are not cheap. I'm a 1st year Student Midwife at Birthwise Midwifery School! I Love my degree/job, but I'm struggling to fund myself through School. I'm not asking for a specific amount, just whatever can be spared, to help make my burden a little lighter. I am answering the call to support our women in the state of Florida who need a culturally relevant midwife and health care provider that is willing to support low income and women of color. <br /><br />The Midwifery Program is a 3-year degree program, It's a very time and energy demanding degree and this leaves me with little to no time/energy to work a job alongside the degree to bring some extra money in for living expenses and travel expenses.<br /><br />My travel costs to and from school and/or the Birth Centers that I will be working with are roughly $200 to $400 per month, sometimes more, depending on how many shifts I have in a week and where I am placed. When working on clinicals I will need to stay in an Airbnb or an Extended Stay for 1 to 6 months at a time and that will also cost me. <br /><br />I need money for other things like food on occasions, clothing, toiletries, textbooks, and stationery for studying and other inescapable living costs. <br /><br />If you can give anything at all, it would be greatly appreciated. I love my degree, I am super passionate about it, however, coping with the inherent physical and emotional stress that comes with the nature of my work becomes much harder when I am worried constantly about whether I will have enough money to get through the rest of the course.  <br /><br />Thank you so much for giving to my cause and for allowing me to empower women in my community.

Hello my dearest Community,<br /><br />     "Anita, why aren't you pursuing music and singing professionally?"  (The question I've been asked 100 times or more.) This year, I've started the recording phase of my first full-length album entitled "<a href="https://soundcloud.com/user-363133147/sets/surrendering-to-the-sacred-1/s-xYbwN" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Surrendering To The Sacred"  </a>(click to hear the raw songs).  I'm so excited about this project and your help is key in making it real!  <br /><br />     Last Summer, with everyone's help, I quit my job waiting tables and completed all the demos (<strong>listen by clicking the link above</strong>) and finished up the songs themselves. Then I started working in the fall with my 9th year with Democracy Matters, mentoring young political organizers to get big money out of politics and this past Spring, I also started teaching Critical Thinking at Alamance Community College. <br /><br />     If everyone I know donated at least $5, I could most definitely cover most production and recording costs. Facebook only reaches some folks I know and this is more personal, I hope. <br /><br />    Here's the breakdown:  It's $40 an hour for recording in the studio and with production/reproduction it adds up to about $5200+ for the project. We've raised over half that so far!  I've been working extra hard to save and performing shows.
