<div>Hi, my name is Christine Griffin and I am fundraising for my beautiful friend Craig Prothero who has been diagnosed with Giant cell glioblastoma (brain cancer).
</div>

<div>In early 2021, Craig experienced left-sided facial pain/numbness after a vaccine, which resolved without clear cause. However, in April 2023, the numbness returned proceeding another vaccine, whereby doctors ordered another head MRI which revealed two small lesions in his right temporal lobe. Despite initial positive signs, subsequent MRIs in August shocked everyone— the lesions had rapidly grown into tumours.

<div>Craig underwent surgery on September 7, with one tumour fully removed, but partial resection of the second due to its proximity to his right eye. Post-surgery, the devastating diagnosis came: high-grade astrocytoma, a form of aggressive brain cancer. After further pathology results it is now called a Giant Cell Glioblastoma.

<div>Giant cell glioblastoma is a subtype of glioblastoma multiforme, which is a highly aggressive and malignant brain tumour. The "giant cell" designation refers to the presence of large, multinucleated cells within the tumour. These cells are called giant cells because they are significantly larger than typical cells.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Giant cell glioblastoma shares many characteristics with conventional glioblastomas, such as rapid growth, infiltrative behaviour, and a tendency to recur even after aggressive treatment. However, the presence of giant cells may indicate some differences in the tumour’s biology and behaviour.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Treatment for giant cell glioblastoma typically involves a combination of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy which Craig has commenced and has just started his 5th week of treatment.
</div>

</div>
<div>Now facing a challenging treatment journey, Craig and his family are dealing with the emotional and financial toll. The original plan of 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy in Austin shifted with the possibility of local treatment in Shepparton, a tremendous relief for emotional and financial reasons.
</div>

</div>
<div>Craig has dedicated nearly two decades to the Mooroopna Golf Club, but he's had to take a leave of absence for a minimum of 6 months. Unfortunately, all of Craig's available leave has been exhausted.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As Craig battles this disease, the family is grappling with not only the emotional toll, reduced income, and the uncertain future of their dreams, including their cherished project, The Gap Getaway. The Gap Getaway is dependent on Craig being physically able and can only remain open with the very generous support of family and friends to keep his dream alive.
</div>
<div>Craig, the primary breadwinner for his family, is currently unable to drive or work as he undergoes treatment. His beautiful wife, Kirsty, is providing essential daily support as they navigate this challenging journey together.
</div>

<div>Craig has completed four of the six-week course of radiation and chemotherapy simultaneously. After a brief break, he will undergo another MRI to assess the effectiveness of the treatment. Craig is set to continue with chemotherapy in the upcoming months as part of his ongoing treatment plan.

Help Craig in his fight against brain Cancer

<div>The Wangaratta hockey club committee are asking for funding to pay for lights to install at our hockey field. The club currently <span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">has approx 100 members and we as a committee are actively trying to grow the club.</span>

</div>


<div>We have been lucky enough to be able to hire the newly laid (in 2021) synthetic turf which is located on the grounds of the local school, Wangaratta Cathedral College on the Wangaratta-Whitfield Rd, in Wangaratta, Victoria. This opportunity has taken our club off the grass field at Appin Park and allowed us to lift our skills and be more competitive with other clubs in our region. To the point, our senior women's team made it to the grand final in 2022 for the first time but unfortunately lost the game. We are also excited by the juniors coming through the club and need to continue to support our kids that have a passion for hockey.


</div>


<div>Our situation is, we were using the old bowling club synthetic turf in Wangaratta in 2022 for training at night because it is not used for bowls anymore and they have lights. The field was not ideal and small but we made the best of our situation. As another alternative, we also set up a generator and installed makeshift lights at one end of our field at Cathedral College to give us more room. But this option was not the best, as the light was not enough to train properly as it barely covered the area around the goals and we had to set up and run the generator every time.


</div>


<div>At the end of 2022 we were told we can't use the bowling club grounds at the Wangaratta Club anymore. So we are now desperate for a solution in 2023. Our hockey season is about to start in March and it will soon be getting dark in Autumn/Winter and we won't be able to train because it gets dark at about 5.30 pm. So our hockey club is in real trouble......

<div>We have approached the Wangaratta council, the Cathedral College school and the hockey association for funding to install permanent lights but this is very expensive (approx $300k) and there is no confirmation this will happen in the near future.


</div>


<div>So our solution is to install quality temporary lights to the grounds at the field at the Cathedral College school. We have received a quote for the work. It includes extending power under the road from the school to the field and installing appropriate poles and switches. It is a much cheaper and quicker option than waiting for permanent lights. The power lines we set up now to get from the school to the field will save us money long-term,  if permanent light structures are ever built. The quote has come in at approx $20k.


</div>


<div>So that's our predicament. We have approx 3 mths to sort out a solution before winter hits and it gets dark early otherwise our club will have no option to train. Note our games are normally played during the day over the weekend. We as a committee and a club would really appreciate and be grateful for any donations . Thank you.

<div>Multiple community centres and fire stations need generators. There is still active fires going on and more hate weather to come and these guys have been left out to dry with funding not coming through to get basic essentials such as a generator. We need your help.

<div>In 2014 Creighton Creek brigade were promised a generator as backup power for their station and the community hall. It’s 2026 and it still hasn’t come. We got it installed in 30 hours and solved this issue for the brigade! Now we want to help other volunteer brigades. Terip and Longwood.

<div>When the power goes out, so does the ability to open the roller doors and get out the trucks. This leaves our community at risk. This has now been rectified but other brigades face the same challenges.
</div>

<div>Various brigades desperately needed a generator to power the community hall and ensure they can support community when they have the greatest need.. we have delivered this but want to directly impact more brigades. please dig deep and help us support
