<div>Christopher Ramirez and Steven Oakley Honey were devoted to each other and married for 51 years. Steven was not only Christopher's husband but his round the clock caregiver these last five years. Steven unexpectedly passed away on August 5th.

<div>Steven stood steadfast by Christopher's side. Steven was Christopher's heart, soul, joy, and passion. Steven endured a discharge from the military reserves because he was gay, and he met Christopher soon after that. Their bond and love endured those times when society was not supportive.

<div> Due to the Ridge Route Fire Chris lost his precious baby girl, his dog “HoneyBee” and  all that he owned.

<div>  When we visited his property for the first time, ruble and smoldering ashe was the only thing that remained where his house once stood. As Channel 5 news cameras were rolling chris was obviously<span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';"> still in shock. Later after the interview was finished Chris recollected that morning, saying goodbye to HoneyBee before leaving for work. He was in disbelief and angry at himself for not being able to save her. As a friend I felt hopeless in trying to console his emotions of greif. There are no words that I could’ve said to take away his pain of loosing his best friend of 15 years old. </span>

<div>Chris’s grief remains high even after a few days have passed. Repeating the chain of events and how he was not allowed into property to save HoneyBee.

<div>To avoid such a tragedy as his, Chris would like the emergency protocol to implement qualified personnel that rescues pets,  agricultural, and wildlife animals.

Chris Burkhead Ridge Route Fire lost Honey Bee

McFarland Animal Shelter in Kern County needs our help!!! <br /><br />The animals are suffering but we CAN help.  We have been in touch directly with their animal control officer who tells us they need the following ASAP:<br /><br />-Commercial washer &amp; dryer <br />-Generator <br />-Kiranda beds<br />-Stainless steel food bowls<br />-Chewable Flea &amp; Tick Meds<br />_Blankets &amp; towels<br />-Shade cloths <br /><br />Thanks to everyone who has been working together to help the animals who are living in this EXTREMELY HOT shelter.  We have decided to have No Paws Left Behind purchase the exact items needed instead of sending money to the shelter or city. <br /><br />If you can help us network the animals to get them out of there — would we love that too!!! <br /><br />More information about No Paws Left Behind: No Paws Left Behind Rescue's purpose is to rescue homeless and unwanted domestic pets from high kill shelters and abusive situations To transport them to areas where our 501c3 Rescue Partners will provide these fur souls with a safe and loving environment to live until a loving for ever home can be found. To provide veterinary care when necessary, spay and neuter to prevent over population, and educate the public on being a responsible pet owner.
