<div>As members of the Nepalese Society of Nova Scotia community living in Nova Scotia, we have strong ties to Nepal, with many of us having family members and loved ones living there. We want to come together as a community to support the families affected by this disaster and contribute to the ongoing relief efforts.

<div><strong>100 percent of the funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign</strong>, <strong>after any applicable GoFundMe transaction fees, will be transferred directly to the Nepal Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.</strong> The funds will support official relief and recovery efforts for flood affected communities, including emergency assistance and recovery support. Also,<strong> I wanted to share Abhilasha Niraula is the Vice President of our nonprofit organization will be withdrawing the funds and sending them to be transferred for disaster-relief purposes and ultimately contributed to the official Nepal Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, which is established by the Government of Nepal for disaster rescue, relief, and rehabilitation.</strong>

Nepal Flash Flood Relief Fund – Support Affected Families

<div>My name is Shishir Thapa( a temporary resident in Canada), and I’m reaching out for help in raising funds for my younger sister, Shisham Thapa, who is bravely battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This is her second diagnosis, and unfortunately, it is a relapse.

<div>Currently, she is undergoing chemotherapy in Nepal, and doctors have recommended a bone marrow transplant as the next step in her treatment. The total cost for this procedure, including the transplant, is estimated at around 50,000 CAD. This amount could increase significantly if any complications arise.

<div>To date, our family has managed to collect 25,000 CAD through contributions from relatives, INGOs/NGOs, government support, and our savings. However, with her frequent hospitalizations and the previous costly treatment, we cannot cover the remaining expenses.

It’s being replaced by the quiet dread of hospital rooms and the sharp, recurring pain of needles. <strong><em>Advika has Beta Thalassemia Major</em></strong>, a cruel blood disorder that forces her to endure constant, exhausting transfusions just to stay alive. We watch, helpless, as the light in her eyes dims with every visit.

<div>Sunday November 17, over 100 people gathered for the funeral of our beloved Divya - chilly day/warm hearts/armfuls of flowers offered into the green burial in loving silence. We played Divya's eternal voice chanting "The Ancient Love", then an Art of Living devotee led "Om Nama Shivaya…." live.

<div>We are fundraising to help with Divya's recent personal care and funeral expenses, urgently needed by her family now, and for a suitable memorial to be created in the coming months. Funds will go to widower Michael Fernandes and the Divya Prabha Legacy Society of Nova Scotia. The lives of this wonderful spiritual teacher, and her husband, artist Michael Fernandes, did not enable them to establish much in the way of savings or pension income. They were always giving to others. Now is our turn to give $$$ support back!

<div>Divya Prabha was the first devotee of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in North America, who helped him spread his teachings here, in India and Europe, passed from this world midday November 14, 2024, after a painful fight with cancer over the past half year.

<div>Divya was a skilled and inspired teacher of yoga, chanting and meditation, who travelled extensively with Sri Sri in the early years of the Art of Living Foundation, leading "Divya Satsangs" and supporting courses. She supported all who called on her with insight, encouragement and sensitivity. For decades we have delighted in her music - her dynamic chanting of classic and original sanskrit bhajans and English songs inspired small groups and stadiums full of people to sing and even dance, transported to ecstacy. Until last month she was still composing new bhajan tunes!

<div>Gursimran Kaur was only 19 years old, a young beautiful girl who came to Canada with big dreams. On Oct 19th, the fateful Saturday night, she was found burned to death in the walk-in oven at Walmart Bakery situated at Mumford Road, Halifax.
</div>
<div>Gursimran and her mother both worked at Walmart for the last two years. In that evening, like any watchful mother who breathed for her child's happiness, Gursimran's mother tried to locate her after not seeing for one hour. She asked around, but everyone brushed aside thinking that she may be somewhere helping a customer, Walmart is a superstore after all!. Her phone was not reachable.

<div>Mother started panicking as it was unusual for her to switch her phone off during the day. She reached out to the onsite admin for help. As you all know now, her remains were found inside the walk in oven in the Bakery after a few hours
</div>
<div>Imagine the horror that her mother experienced when she opened the oven, when someone pointed it out to her!
</div>
<div>Police are investigating the case so we can not share any more details
</div>
<div>Both, Gursimran's father and brother are in India and we are trying to get them here as soon as possible. This family's sufferings are unimaginable and indescribable. They need your support to get through this horrific time.
