My wife Gina has been living with mid to acute multiple sclerosis, which means she needs daily help with dressing, meals, and personal care. To make sure she gets the support she needs, I pay for three caregivers. On top of that, I have three hernias that limit my own mobility, making it even harder to manage everything on my own. Our expenses go beyond caregiving. We have to pay a high price for reliable snow removal every month, and we also have a seasonal contract to clear snow from sections of our roof to keep our home safe. Because of our health situations, we often need to visit the hospital, and ambulance transportation is necessary for us. These costs add up quickly and have become overwhelming.
