What they care about

Childhood experiences have a lifetime effect on our children and determine if they survive or thrive as adults. Our children matter. We can make a difference.

A Story of Why This Matters Recently, a mother came to us with her young child and nowhere to go. Everything she owned fit in her car. She was working, trying to do everything right, but one setback after another had pushed her into a place where she simply couldn’t catch up. She didn’t have family nearby. She didn’t have a safety net. She just had her child—and the fear of what would happen next. When she reached out, she wasn’t asking for everything. She was asking for a chance. We met her where she was. We were able to place her and her child in a safe hotel so they didn’t have to sleep in their car. We helped her start looking for housing. We worked through a plan with her—budgeting, next steps, what it would take to move forward. She is still working. Still showing up. Still trying. And now, she has a path forward.
