<div>My name is Sherika Todd from a small district called Bethany in the parish of St. Ann, currently living in Kingston, Jamaica.

<div>When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, it left behind more than just flooded roads and fallen trees — it shattered lives, homes, and hope. What many people outside our island may not realize is the depth of the destruction, especially in the rural and less accessible communities. The hurricane’s path carved through parishes, uprooting families, washing away belongings, and cutting off entire districts from help.

<div>Before the hurricane, I’ve always been someone who helps others — quietly, without asking for help in return and without showing it online. Whether it was donating food, helping families rebuild, or simply showing up for those in need, I did it from the heart. But this time, the devastation is too great for me to handle alone. <strong>I need all the help I can get right now.</strong>

<div>In the days following the storm, I began receiving message after message from people on social media — mothers crying for food and water for their children, families sleeping in dark, wet houses with roofs blown away, and elders stranded in remote hills with no way to reach the main roads. As someone with a large and active online community, I found myself becoming a bridge — hearing the cries of those who are being overlooked and knowing I couldn’t stay silent.

<div>That’s why I created this GoFundMe. Not because I have all the answers, but because I refuse to look away. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly help reaches the city while those in deep rural Jamaica — in the valleys, the mountains, and the floodplains — are forgotten. <strong>These are the people who need us most right now.</strong> Many of them won’t receive government aid any time soon. Some have lost everything: their homes, livestock, small farms, and the little businesses they depended on to survive.

<div>My goal is to bring relief directly to these areas — to the ones we all know are being ignored. With your help, I’ll be able to provide food supplies, clean water, tarpaulins, mattresses, clothing, and other basic essentials. Every dollar will go toward getting help into the hands of real people whose stories have touched me deeply.
