I'm one of Kim's many friends from Chicago who have been trying to get help for Kim and Justin since we first heard they had to evacuate.

<div>It's stunning how fast everything can be taken from a person in a natural disaster. I have an insurance background and reached out to a contact in the industry, who, flat out said, when a fire destroys a home, insurance is never enough to cover all the expenses. My hope is this fundraiser will exceed our goal and they will have access to funds quickly to cover the costs of relocating and purchasing whatever necessities they need.

<div>Kim has always had a fearless spirit and generous heart, a perfect combination for making things happen. When I first visited her in California, I was introduced to her wonderful Grand OLE Echo community. She told me she started the GOE in order to meet people, so helping to launch the LA Americana scene was just a by-product of her desire for connection. Among the people she met was Justin Smith, who was playing drums with Old Californio. Justin is the perfect match for Kim. When these two aren't putting on a show or hosting a party for their friends, they seem to be rescuing dogs. Their latest, Gordie, evacuated with them, thank goodness.

<div>If you know these two, you know I have hardly touched upon all they do for others. Musicians found a champion in Kim as a publicist and Justin has delighted us as one of the most talented drummers playing in and touring with numerous bands.

<div>My son, a Husband, Father and Centerville police chief Shanon Irwin was diagnosed in November 2023 with endocrine pancreatic and liver cancer. If you know Shanon, he is the first to help and the last to ask for it. Shanon is a Marine Corp veteran and has served his community as a law enforcement officer for over 25 years. This fund was created to help ease the financial burden on Shanon and his family during this difficult time. This is the story of Thomas "Spanky" Grant, a man who touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit and deep passion for friends, family and a love for music.

 

Growing up in the scenic hills of Campbell County in rural East Tennessee, Spanky was a beacon of joy in the community. Everyone who knew him LOVED him.

 

From a young age, he was enchanted by the rhythms of life, turning every moment into a melody. His love for music, especially the bass, was as infectious.

 

With a heart full of dreams, a couple of buddies, and his base in hand, Spanky set out for Nashville, Tennessee seeking his fame and fortune. It wasn't just a city for him; it was a canvas for his musical aspirations. In Nashville, he didn't just play music; he lived it, breathed it, and shared it with everyone around him.

 

He met his wife Tiffany in the heart of Music City. Together, they created music that echoed their souls. Spanky was more than a bassist; he was the heart and the heartbeat of everyone around him.  His infectious enthusiasm and generosity knew no bounds, spreading joy and kindness wherever he went.

 

Tragically, Spanky's vibrant journey was cut short due to a battle with cancer leaving a silence too profound to express. His loss is not just mine, but a loss to all that knew him.  The world was a better place because he was in it.

 

While we are all heartbroken, his wife Tiffany’s world has been rocked to the core and she needs some support. The medical expenses and the sudden loss have left a void, not just emotionally but financially. She will need help to cover the medical bills and to keep her life on track in the wake of this tragedy.

 

Any contribution, no matter how small, will be a ray of hope in these dark times. It's not just about financial aid; it's about honoring Spanky's legacy, his love for people, music, and the joy he brought into our lives.

<div>Tom Mason has brought much joy and love into so many of our lives. It's now time to help return the favor. Please consider supporting this genuinely wonderful human being and helping him on his road to recovery from stage 4 colon cancer.<br /><br />In June of 2021 guitarist, troubadour, and captain of the Blue Buccaneers Tom Mason was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, with the cancer entering his liver. Since then he has been receiving chemotherapy at Tennessee Oncology. While undergoing treatment Tom played Feste the Fool in Nashville Shakespeare Festival's production of "12th Night" for which he also composed the music and recorded a CD, and has been playing a few local shows. Along with that work and the help of MusiCares and Music Health Alliance he was able to cover the bills, but now the funding has run out and a new year is approaching with a whole new set of deductibles. We're raising funds to cover his medical and living expenses to help him recover and get back to making people happy on stage.

Our wonderful Carol Ann needs our help. On January 17th, CA went to the ER with stomach pain. An initial scan showed a large mass that required emergency surgery. During the procedure they removed all that they could but the growth had spread.  Our brilliant CA weathered that storm and is now at home on bedrest. However, the biopsy results have come back and we now know CA has ovarian cancer.<br /><br />On top of this, CA had a gran mal seizure four months ago due to a rare side effect to a medication she was prescribed at the time. The seizure prevents CA from legally being able to drive for six months. The pandemic has been a burden on all of us, but with two kids and no steady income for months, the financial strain of this diagnosis is considerable. We all know CA as our strongest friend, but now even our strongest needs us.<br /><br />CA's chemotherapy treatment will begin as soon as she has recovered from surgery. The money raised in this campaign will not only cover hospital bills, but also go directly towards groceries and rent. CA has always been there for us, and it's our time to be there for her and her little ones. Any amount helps.

A Little Help for CA

Springwater Supper Club &amp; Lounge is the Oldest bar in Tennessee, and as such are not accustomed to closing shop. The entire globe has been drastically effected by the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to be conscientious of our small but loyal bar staff and our wonderful family of regulars and bands alike we suspended service on March 17, 2020. During this time our staff from bar to sound are, like many others, without income. This is an extremely trying time for all, and any donation small or large to help our folks bridge this gap is largely appreciated. We intend to open our doors back up to our beloved Nashville just as soon as possible and plan to assist in benefit efforts for other displaced workers and establishments by utilizing our stage and staff in all ways we can. Miles, a gifted musician, had his life changed forever by a deadly blood infection. Sadly, he lost parts of his hands and feet and requires reconstructive nasal surgery. But after seven weeks in the hospital, we are grateful he is alive!<br /><br />It happened so fast. In July, 23 year-old guitarist Miles Fishell checked into St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, CA with a high fever. He was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening bacterial blood infection called meningococcal disease, and deteriorated rapidly. The infection led to blood poisoning and spread quickly throughout his body, leading to overlapping medical traumas known as purpura fulminans. The infection caused Miles's blood to clot, limiting oxygen to the smallest capillaries in his fingers, feet and nose, resulting in devastating, permanent damage. Thankfully, St. John’s ICU team arrested the bacteria's progression and saved Miles's life. He was then transported to UCLA Medical Center, where he remained for seven weeks, including a long stay in ICU. Miles was prescribed daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments to help heal his wounded limbs. <br /><br />This trauma has been monumentally life-changing for Miles. Medical insurance covered most of his hospitalization costs, but his long-term working prospects remain uncertain. Miles must now rely on multiple medical specialists over his lifetime. Future medical bills are a huge concern, as are his daily living expenses. Your donation helps him prepare for his uncertain future.  <br /><br />Miles and his family HUMBLY ask for your help. My sister, and your family member or friend, Katie Malone was in a tragic parasailing accident while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Due to constant support from friends &amp; family we’ve been able to be the biggest cheerleaders for Katie. <br />She is now out of the hospital but has quite a few appointments per week (very expensive) to look forward to help her on her road to recovery.<br /><br />***6/25/18***<br />She received surgery on Saturday 6/23 that repaired her broken jaw, broken cheek &amp; face. Some titanium and mesh, 14 screws. That surgery alone is $21,000.00<br />Her current bill is estimated at $43,000.00. <br />Due to her pituitary gland being enlarged due to the head trauma the doctors here believe they’ve had the best to help Katie and have had surgeons from all over Mexico just for her operations, they have highly suggested for us to life flight/air ambulance Katie back to the states so that she can be scene/operated by someone who specializes in the pituitary gland. <br />We now need the expenses for a life flight back home for Katie. These are not cheap for someone who doesn’t have insurance. Ball park for to and from hospital and airport plus medical bed and nurse on hand $20,000+<br /><br />Katie is in good spirit and has her humor back! It’s gonna be a long road of recovery, Please continue the prayers, kind thoughts and positive energy towards Katie, she needs all the support we can give her!

<p>Our friend Earl "Bubba" Maddox is battling colon cancer and needs our help.&nbsp; Doctors found a 9cm mass in his colon shortly after Memorial Day, and they need to shrink it before they can operate.&nbsp; Chemotherapy was unsuccessful as Earl is allergic to the drugs; they hope that radiation therapy will reduce the mass to an operable size.</p><p>Earl was about to film a specially written part for Quentin Tarantino in "Django Unchained" when this disease made it impossible for him to work.&nbsp; He is receiving care at the Tulane Medical Center and could really use our help with the mounting bills of his treatment, not to mention daily expenses.</p><p>Earl has always helped others by playing in benefits or lending a helping hand with hard work.&nbsp; For those of you who remember Greg Smalley, Earl was one of his primary caregivers during Greg's long battle with AIDS.</p><p>He's a tough sonofabitch and will beat this thing with our help.&nbsp; Please donate what you can.<br> </p>
