- Tiktok Intro video First appointment Update one Hi everyone, My name is Michaela, and I’m reaching out for help with orthodontic and oral surgery treatment for my 8-year-old son Alex. He was recently diagnosed with an extra tooth that’s blocking one of his front teeth (his buck tooth) from coming down properly. After several dental visits, X-rays, a CT scan, and consultations, we learned that this isn’t something that will correct itself — he needs a multi-step orthodontic and surgical process to bring that tooth down and restore his smile. Here’s what the process looks like: Phase One: Braces will be placed to prepare his teeth and create space. Phase Two: He’ll see an oral surgeon who will remove the extra tooth and expose the trapped one. A small chain will be attached to the hidden tooth. Phase Three: The orthodontist will then connect the chain to his braces, slowly pulling the tooth into position over the next 12 months. This procedure will take about a year and involve multiple appointments, sedation for surgery, and ongoing orthodontic care with a retainer that will have to be replaced as he grows. Unfortunately, our dental insurance does not cover any of this, leaving us responsible for the majority of the cost — which is overwhelming for our family. We are currently looking at our options for insurance for next year and possible programs as well. As a mom, it breaks my heart to see my son feel self-conscious about his smile. This tooth has been missing for over two years now, making eating difficult. We also wonder if the recent persistent headaches are a result of the pressure. He has also been struggling with bullying because of his tooth. I just want him to be able to smile and laugh without worry or discomfort. To keep everything transparent, I’ll be documenting his journey on my TikTok so donors can follow his progress, see updates after appointments, and share in every milestone as his beautiful smile comes together. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward: Orthodontic treatment and adjustments Oral surgery costs Follow-up care and dental visits If we are blessed with anything extra when this is all over, we will be looking for another child and family in need to donate what is left so your donation continues to go to a good cause. If you’re unable to donate, even sharing this page or following our story helps more than you know. Thank you for helping my son get his smile and confidence back. With love and gratitude, Alex, Michaela, Craig, & Sabrina
