Hello everyone, my name is Allison Gill, and I’m the mother of my sweet daughter A’rya Young. About two weeks ago, in late March, everything changed for our family. My previously healthy 21-month-old daughter suddenly began suffering from repeated, uncontrollable focal seizures. After many tests, she was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Hartnup disease. The seizures caused swelling in her brain, and doctors had to act quickly. She was placed on a strong seizure medication at a high dose. While it helped control the seizures, it also acted as a heavy sedative and led to her being placed in a medically induced coma after fighting so hard for two weeks. As of April 8, 2026, she is not fully awake yet, but she is fighting her way back to us—and that gives me hope. I’m expecting more answers from her doctors in the coming week.
During this time, I’ve had to take FMLA leave from work to be by her side. Unfortunately, her father is not currently able to help, and this has left me in a very difficult financial situation. I am struggling to cover basic necessities like medications not covered by Medicaid, rent, phone bill, diapers, and daily essentials.
I previously started a GoFundMe, but it was taken down due to a misunderstanding, and all donations were refunded. So I am starting over and reaching out for help and support. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. If you can’t, please consider sharing this message—every share helps spread awareness and brings us closer to the support we need. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. Please feel free to message me with any questions—I’m more than willing to answer. Please keep my baby A’rya in your thoughts and prayers.
