<div>Hi! My name is Kiera Mowery and I suffered a T8 spinal cord injury after a car crash in May of 2020 that left me paralyzed from the ribs down. Losing my ability to walk, among many other aspects of my life, put me through the darkest years of my life by far. Before my injury, I wasn’t much of a mountain biker. Now, adaptive biking is one of the greatest joys in my life. About a year after the accident, I started participating in adaptive sports, which was a slow start since I was in severe pain every day. Looking back, I can honestly say that adaptive recreation and the disability community saved me. They showed me that my life could still be full, meaningful, and adventurous. While my body looks different now, when I’m biking I am able to utilize the parts of my body that DO function. Biking gave me freedoms I thought paralysis had taken away forever.

<div>Currently, I am limited to biking for a couple of months out of the year through adaptive sports programs. It would mean everything to have a bike of my own which would give me more independence, consistent exercise, and the chance to be outside doing what I love far more often. Unfortunately, adaptive sports equipment is significantly more expensive than able-bodied equipment. I am raising money for a Bowhead RX adaptive mountain bike, which is priced at $20,244.00. I have raised $10,000 through grants but still have a ways to go.

<div>If my accident had never happened, I don’t think I would have discovered this passion or this incredible community. In a strange way, that has made me grateful for the chance to rewrite my story. You don’t get to choose the life you’re given, but biking has helped me rebuild my relationship with my body and my mind. <div>At 16 years old, my life changed in an instant after an ATV rollover left me with a T4–T5 spinal cord injury.

<div>What didn’t change was my drive to move forward.

<div>Years later, I found that path again through para-cycling, and it became everything:

She thrived as a Paralympic swimmer, representing Canada on the world stage for over a decade. Her accomplishments include competing in three Paralympic Games, earning medals at World Championships, and breaking Canadian records—all while advocating for equity, inclusion, and safe sport as a leader in the adaptive athletics community.

The transition brought unexpected challenges—resurfaced trauma, mental health struggles, and the loss of a sport that had given her purpose and structure for so long. But amid these difficulties, Camille found something new: adaptive mountain biking. This sport has given her a renewed sense of freedom, strength, and connection, reigniting her passion for movement and community.

These highly specialized pieces of equipment can cost upwards of tens of thousands of dollars making ownership an unattainable goal for Camille right now. She has been relying on borrowing bikes at events, which limits her ability to fully embrace this transformative sport.

<div>Meet Jen, an outdoor enthusiast with a heart as big as the mountains she loves to explore. After sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2021, Jen has adapted to life as a wheelchair user, returned to work, and is still busy raising her 3 children.

<div>It was important to find a way back to the outdoors and in September 2022, Jen was able to attend a retreat to learn to ride an adaptive mountain bike (aMTB). Eight weeks later she became the proud owner of a Bowhead Reach. She was fortunate to acquire this demo bike and has ridden it non-stop for the past year and a half.
</div>
<div>However, as much as Jen loves her current Bowhead Reach, it's not the perfect fit for where she wants to go next in her cycling journey. That's why I'm reaching out to you all today. I'm embarking on a mission to help Jen acquire a Bowhead RX adaptive bike, a tool that will not only reignite her love for cardio but also open up a world of possibilities in terms of training and attending enduro and gravel races where her current bike falls short.

<div>My name is Tyler, and I'm doing this fundraiser for my good friend Bobby. On Friday night coming home from work he was involved in a horrific collision. This accident has left him in critical condition. He has multiple spine/vertebrae fractures, Broken leg, Broken arm, head, knee, and abdominal injuries. He is undergoing multiple surgeries to save his life and will be in the ICU for the foreseeable future. We are praying when he wakes up he will have feeling in his legs. Bob loves his job as a home builder, and with this comes the fact that he will be out of work for a considerable/unknown amount of time. He has a house, dog, and fiancé that he cares for and no-one can prepare for a life changing event like this. We understand times are tough so if you aren't able to spare anything please share this and keep Bobby and his family in your prayers.

The track is fast, with a machine-built flow with many rollers, small jumps and variations to keep the challenge up.

Full Nelson Maintenance Fundraiser

<div>Hi! My name is Jamie. My son Anthony - who’s friends know him as Tony the Tiger - was in a motorcycle accident in 2020 - breaking his C6 causing paralysis from his upper chest down and in his hands and triceps. With lots of help from the community he has been able to do intensive physical therapy over the last three years, and this May he was able to travel to have surgery to correct failing hardware in his neck that was creating a life-threatening situation. Now stabilized he can make greater gains in with PT, but to him more importantly he now has the opportunity to have greater involvement in adaptive sports - specifically mountain biking.

And, its not just a “bike”, it's a powerful physical therapy tool that will help him regain an active lifestyle! Help Build An Adaptive Mountain Bike for Tony

<div>Stephen Murray is a legend of BMX and a hero of many. His riding during the early 2000s was incredible, and he proved it with multiple X-Games and Gravity Games Gold Medals. Alongside that he achieved World 1sts, such as the first double backflip in competition plus his iconic 360 turn-down backflip. He also brought an energy and lust for life (and bike riding) that made all who encounter him smile with infectious joy and laughter.

<div>In 2007 Stephen crashed during the finals of a major event, he was attempting a double backflip but slipped his pedal on take-off, the devastating fall broke Stephen's neck in six places. The result, a life changing spinal cord injury (SCI). The reality of that for Stephen is permanent paralysis from the neck down.

<div>It’s impossible to imagine how hard life has been for Stephen over the years since his injury, I say that as someone who has also suffered a SCI (2013). I can understand to some extent the hardship, although the location of my injury is much lower down my spine, which means I have all the normal control and function over my arms. I also benefited from the fact that I had a 'Stephen Murray' to follow as an inspiration and role model, and that was significant for me - I suspect I am one of many who have benefited from the example Stephen sets when it comes to appreciating life.

Recently I became aware of this awesome piece of equipment being ridden by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/peatylloyd/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Peter Lloyd</a>. Peter has a very similar injury level to Stephen, and he manages to ride trails using an all-terrain wheelchair called <a href="https://quadrix-team.com/en/produits/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Quadrix</a>, using a chest mounted chin control that Peter developed himself. Riders Unite! To Support BMX Icon Stephen Murray.

<div>Dear cycling family and friends…….as you all know by now our dear friend Jay Petervary was 2,000 miles into his 3,080-mile ride down the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route this August when a driver hit him from behind at high speed in the middle of the day on a wide open road, destroying Jay's bike and causing severe injuries.

<div>The US medical system is convoluted and insanely expensive. Insurance companies will get away with and not cover any incurred expenses they can regardless of Jay's situation. Jay still has no idea of what the total cost will be from an ambulance ride, two surgeries, a multi-day stay at the hospital, post-op check-ups, and physical therapy, At this point he does know the 16 year old driver will not be on the hook for much of it considering the minimum liability insurance that was on the vehicle and no assets to go after.

<div>Not only that, but Jay makes his living by being active. He's a professional athlete and ambassador of the sport, with sponsor obligations and a guiding and consulting business he has been investing a lot of time and energy into. He also had gotten back into some construction work. All of that is on hold because of his injuries, and you better believe he's not someone who's good at sitting still.

<div>Hi I'm Marty, and I am doing this fundraiser for my wife, Brie, who needs several new mobility aids geared toward getting her back to enjoying the great outdoors. She is an ambulatory paraplegic who wants to hike, bike and adventure again.

<div>Brie is stridently independent and has a wild heart that finds peace when she is in nature, surrounded by the smell of trees, moss, tiny mushrooms, birds, and all the wonder that the forest has to offer. It’s something we’re all familiar with, but for Brie, it’s something eternal. She grew up in the forest and it's home to her. Her physical ability to access the outdoors has changed irrevocably, but her desire for connection with the healing aspects of nature has not. Brie has always been on a bike, biking is where she feels free and will instantly make her smile. But adaptive bikes are not affordable. She has always had a bike, but never has she purchased a brand new bike for herself, and now she is faced with spending over $20k to bike again.

<div>This is a big ask and something that is hard for Brie to grapple with, but the reality of financial limitations as a paraplegic is real. Brie has had to take on the financial bulk of raising funds for modifications in all aspects of her life up until now: home, vehicle, clothing, mobility aids, and now sports equipment.

<div>Brie needs our support! She has been working hard to raise the funds for an adaptive mountain bike to help her get out on all the beautiful trails in our town. Brie has been putting in nearly full-time hours on writing grants; not only for herself, but for other individuals that are also in need of an adaptive mountain bike. She has received 2 grants towards an adaptive mountain bike totalling $7000, from Challenged Athletes Foundation and High Fives Foundation. An Adaptive Mountain Bike (aMTB) is a piece of essential outdoor equipment for Brie. This kind of specialized equipment allows disabled individuals the freedom and autonomy to explore and enjoy the outdoors as they used to, alongside their friends and families – a priceless gift.

<div>Other adaptive outdoor equipment Brie needs are:

<div>-Beach fat tires for her wheelchair that she would like to get to access all the beaches in the area that don't have access paths.

<div>-All-terrain walker (with 14" pneumatic tires) so she can hike. last year she did a 3 km loop! But with an indoor walker, she ends up having to pick it up over roots and other obstacles. An all-terrain walker would allow her to progress from there.
</div>
<div>-and upright 2-wheeled bike with a dropper post, magnetic pedals and e-assist. when she first realized she could bike again, she cried the entire ride. It takes various modifications to do so, but it is sooo worth it. the aMTB would take her on the rough terrain and far into the woods, and the upright bike would give her the cardio she is lacking, strengthen her legs, and get her outside in town more often. she is looking for a used one.

<div>Brie is committed to building community not only within the Deep River Queer Connection but also through the non-profit The Cando Society (Canadian Disabled Outdoor Society), an organization that aims to reduce barriers for disabled humans to enjoy nature in the Ottawa Valley. Adaptive Mountain Bike for Brie!

<div>If we’ve met at all in the last two years, it’s likely adaptive mountain biking (aMTB) came up in conversation. A little over two years ago, I got my own bike and it has absolutely changed my life. In those last two years, I’ve biked more than 1,000 miles. I’ve biked across NH, to the top of the Mt. Washington Auto Rd, attended bike festivals in ME, VT, NH and NY and most importantly, found the mountain biking community to be the most inclusive and welcoming group of people I’ve ever met.

<div>As my riding has progressed, I‘ve learned so much about my bike, including that I’m really out riding a bike with only rear suspension. I am fundraising for the cost of a full suspension adaptive mountain bike which is around $22,000. Ideally, I would love to raise that full amount to allow me to pass my current bike on to its next owner entirely free. This bike changed my life and I would love to be able to pass that forward to someone else, without them having to worry about getting grants or fundraising.

<div>If you want the full story - come talk to us. The Reader's Digest version is that my sister, Danielle, had a rare spinal event, I guess, you could call it. Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) happens when the nerve roots in the lumbar spine are compressed (in this case, by a GIANT herniated disc), cutting off sensation and movement. The nerves that control bladder and bowel function are especially vulnerable to damage. (aka paralysis, incontinence and sexual dysfunction not to mention elevated risks associated with pregnancy, etc. after a diagnosis). Danielle was 'lucky' to be in such excruciating pain and have the accompanying paralysis to get diagnosed quickly and have emergency surgery.

<div>Danielle feels lucky to be mobile. She can get around, but her legs are like sandbags. Ever have a nerve block to a limb? It's like that. She's not so much walking as swinging heavy appendages. Walking for long periods is incredibly difficult. Car rides are limited to an hour. Recovery is slow and she doesn't know how much better, if at all, it will get. That said, she has a GREAT attitude and is doing everything she can to aid in her recovery.

<div>Medical bills continue to filter in. Insurance is still fighting PT 4 weeks at a time. She may need a lot more than insurance is willing to cover. This also may be the peak of her recovery which would mean a need for adaptive equipment like a wheelchair; special seating; special shoes; a move to an apartment that is more accessible (current situation is two story) not to metion all the other personal care items needed. Again, if you want more information about what that is - that's up to Danielle's discretion to share.

I would like to get this bike to help protect my joints so I can continue being active.

He founded the Joan C Orr Academy to help the children in the community to go to school. Many of them have never been to any school. Educating children in Liberia is the responsibility of the mothers. The illiteracy rate among adult women is 80%, so most cannot teach their kids to read. Neither can they afford to pay school fees.

￼My name is Tommy Corey, and I'm an LGTBQ+ Mexican-American photographer whose creative endeavors focus on diversity, inclusion and accessibility in the outdoors. I am working on a coffee table book that will feature portraits and short stories of 100 different humans from all realms of the outdoor industry, including sports, recreation and professions. My goal is to not just show the diversity in people who love the outdoors but show the beautifully unique ways these people connect to Mother Nature, protect outdoor spaces, find belonging and create community for others. I want anyone to pick up this book, flip through the pages and be able to see themselves represented outside because the outdoors are for everyone. What your money will go to: 1. Payments - It's important to me to pay my subjects for this publication. Reaching this goal means I could pay the 100 subjects $500 each = $50,000 - 2. Travel expenses - Flights, gas, rental cars, lodging. The featured humans live all over the United States and Canada, and I will need to travel to where each one lives or feels the most home in the outdoors. 3. Food - For a full day of photographing each subject. 4. Film development - I am returning to my roots and shooting a big part of this project on my Olympus OM-1, the camera I have used since I was 12 years old. <div>Those that know me well, know I grew up loving outdoor activities. When I sustained a spinal cord injury, I thought I had to put aside my love of the outdoors because it wasn't exactly wheelchair friendly. That attitude changed for me in 2017 when I rented my first adaptive mountain bike in Canmore Alberta. Within the first few minutes of riding the bike, it was evident that this sort of equipment could take me places I thought were out of reach.

<div>I want other people in Saskatchewan to experience the freedom I feel when riding an adaptive mountain bike. Unfortunately, adaptive equipment like this comes with a hefty price tag and can be a huge financial barrier for most people. With help from the <a href="https://www.swsa.ca/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association</a> I started a club to remove this barrier – where participants can borrow equipment and create an adaptive offroad community in Saskatchewan. We currently have two bikes that are available for use, with future plans to travel the province hosting clinics to introduce participants to mountain bike trails and other opportunities that this equipment provides. The places these bikes have taken me are priceless. I’ve been able to explore the river trails in Saskatoon (which I didn’t even know existed), hiking trails at the lake where I grew up, and I get to share it all with my able-bodied friends and family. This equipment truly does change lives.

<div>The two bikes we currently have are very old (circa 2010ish) and they don’t even have suspension. They are also kneeling style bikes which many people with mobility issues cannot bend into or cannot tolerate. The club is looking to purchase two pieces of equipment called the <a href="https://www.bowheadcorp.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bowhead Reach</a> . The Bowhead has an upright riding style, and it has the added bonus of having articulating suspension and a much narrower width than the bikes we currently have. This means the Bowhead can go on far more trails than the two bikes we have, and it will accommodate more users with varying levels of disabilities. The Bowhead is an<strong> outstanding</strong> piece of equipment and was the brainchild of Albertan Christian Bagg.

<div>The price tag on the Bowhead Reach is a whopping <strong>$24,000 CAD</strong>. Grant applications for this equipment have been unsuccessful, and so that is why we need your help. Please consider donating, sharing this post, or passing along any business names that would make an ideal sponsorship partner.
