<div>We’re reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of our incredibly strong sister and cousin, Nadja. As many of you may already know she was involved in a life-altering car accident Monday, November 11th. Due to the severity of her injuries which include 2 broken legs , fractures in her back, nose and eyes she had to get emergency surgery.  As if that was not enough, we are currently awaiting if she will need further surgery on both her knees and feet. Nadja has been intensive care and sadated since the day of the accident. Per the doctor she will be here for a while so that she can be watched over by her medical team. As a single mom working two jobs, she’s always been a fierce provider, loving and fun mother doing everything she can to create a happy, stable life for herself and her young son, Cayden.

<div>Anyone that truly knows Nadja personally, knows she is a phenomenal daughter, selfless mother, caring cousin, niece and kind hearted friend.

<div>Right now, Nadja is focusing on recovering in the hospital, but the journey ahead is long. Once she’s stable enough to be released, she’ll begin a challenging period of physical rehabilitation to regain her mobility and strength. This process will take time, and while she’s determined to come out of this stronger, the medical bills, time off work, and future rehabilitation costs are quickly adding up.

Help Nadja Heal: Medical Support Needed Post Tragic Accident

Kevin was a proud Veteran and volunteer at the Northport V.A, little shelter animal rescue and Island Harvest food bank among others.“ I'm fundraising to cover the funeral expenses for my beloved family member Kevin, to give him a dignified farewell.”

<div>We could never let Him go to "Potters Field" as he has no one to handle his affairs. We have taken care of the funeral costs to get him to Long Island National Cemetary.

<div>I have taken control of his funeral preparation and have also set up his well deserved Military Honors ceremony at Long Island National Cemetary in Farmingdale,N.Y. scheduled for 9/19/2024 at 10:45am. Everyone is invited to attend.

<div>The Firefly Artists- Voted Best Gallery 2022 has lost our lease and are forced to move.
</div>

<div>The bad news is- Firefly was forced to hire an attorney to protect our gallery and our artists when our landlords decided to challenge the lease that they themselves had originally written. Firefly’s mission for the past 11 years has been to support our Long Island Artists and give back to our community. Our goal has always been to give as much of our sales back to our exhibiting artists. Unfortunately, we have exhausted all of our reserve funds in order to pay our legal fees. We cannot afford to fight our landlord any longer (even though we were sure we would win if we went to court). We will be closing our doors at 162 Main Street, Northport as of September 30th.

<div><strong>The GOOD news is</strong>- we have found an alternative space, but it comes with a price. This transition is incredibly expensive, and we must grow to fit the potential new space. Your support will ensure success.

<div>Firefly is a community of artists who believe in a place where artists can share their work and bring the arts to our community. Over the past 11 years, our gallery has grown from a small group of 8 artists to currently over 40 artists and craftsmen. Each time we have changed locations, our membership has grown. Over the years, Firefly has helped over 450 local artists with all our initiatives sell their work and share their visions with our community. Beyond sharing our work with the visitors of Northport, we have donated scholarships to local Art students. We have hosted exhibitions of student work without any charge to the students. We are a Gold sponsor of the Community Theater and active members of the Northport Chamber of Commerce. Our Fireflies include gifted artists, passionate teachers, and incredible stewards of diverse local goods. Together, we nurture generations of creators, many of whom continue to pay it forward.

<div>The Firefly Artists was voted the “Bethpage Best Art Gallery” 2022 and received the honor of a NYS Art Teachers Association “Special Citation for a Business” for our service to teachers and students in 2021. The biggest honors come each time someone shares some positive way we have impacted their lives.
</div>
<div>This is the biggest challenge we have ever faced. In order to continue serving Northport, we must make a huge leap. We intend not only to survive, but to improve our capacity to serve Long Island art and artists.
</div>
<div>Our greatest hope lies in taking advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move into the old Hardware Store at 90 Main. It’s an ideal location for us, with room to grow.
</div>
<div>Donors of $75 receive two custom art note cards: One of thanks, another to give away.
</div>
<div>Donors of $150 or more also earn a Gold Star emblazoned with your name and/or words that you choose that will be on view in the new Gallery through 2022.

<div>Donors of $250 or more will also receive an original hand-signed limited edition relief print created by Beth Atkinson.

<div>We will happily do our best to make your contribution worthwhile. Please note: We are not a 501(c)3 organization, though we recognize that nearly every arts group that acts like us is. We are strongly considering investing in becoming one. While gifts are not tax deductible (except perhaps as business advertising costs where applicable, please consult your accountant and contact us to discuss opportunities), every dime goes toward building a sustainable organization to support local art, artists, and our community.

<div>On Wednesday, June 15th, the Kings Park Community lost a wonderful, fun-loving young woman, Isabel Carella, in a car accident. This news is saddening and unexpected, and we would like to help the family offset the cost of the inevitable expenses during this time.

<div>Her friends lovingly knew Isabel as Issie. Issie was a Kickline, Chorus and Theater Member, among other things. Recently, in May, she received the Musical Theatre Award for choreographing the dance numbers for our Spring Musical. In addition, she was a talented dancer with the Sarah Jean Dance Company. Issie was preparing for her Senior Prom and High School Graduation later this month. Issie was going to attend Suffolk Community College to further her education.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  Our Mom, Kathy Castillo, is the toughest cookie I've ever encountered.  From raising two boys on her own, to banging out chest compressions to save someone she doesn't even know, this woman has gone above and beyond for her family and her community. Friday, March 2nd, Mom will be having open heart surgery to remove an Atrial Myxoma, a benign tumor. She was diagnosed with an Atrial Myxoma in her left atrium, and with a minimum of two months to recover, she is going to need all the help she can get. Anything that can be contributed to helping my family stay afloat would be more than appreciated. From a family that doesn't ask for help, we need it. <br /><br />Sincerely,<br />The Castillo Family

Brett Rainey was only 27 years old when he was tragically taken away from us in a motorcycle accident on May 15, 2015. He was the rock of our family and the person everyone went to for advice. You could always depend on Brett and there was nothing he wouldn't do for those he loved. The passing of Brett so tragically and suddenly left behind so many of us who loved him. His family, friends, co-workers, bikers and so many others who are devastated over losing him. <br />No one is ever prepared for the loss of someone so young much less prepared for the expense of a proper burial. We were able to raise money at the time of his death for the funeral but not enough for a burial. The only place we have to show our respect for Brett is the site of the accident where we go every weekend. It's been helpful for us to have somewhere to go but it has become too difficult for us and the rest of our family to go there because it's a painful memory. Brett deserves to have a final resting place so he will always be remembered and we need a place where his family and friends can go to show their respects in a peaceful and private way. <br />We have decided to make this account for my brother Brett asking anyone who can donate. Burial Expenses For Brett Rainey

This Go Fund Me is for one of the toughest girls I know, my friend, cyster &amp; fellow transplant recipient, Alanna Ambrosio. Alanna is 25 years old, lives in Long Island, and has Cystic Fibrosis. She had a double lung transplant SIX years ago.  She was on life support for 2 weeks and only had hours left to live, thankfully a miracle happened &amp; 2 beautiful new lungs came just for her. Alanna is extremely dedicated to keeping herself and her lungs healthy &amp; has proved that to everyone by maintaing her lung function &amp; staying on top of all of medications &amp; appointments.  Alanna's lungs are healthy but unfortunately she has been dealing with excruciating stomach pain, nausea, high liver functions and weight loss for a while now. Her doctors decided it was time to do a liver biopsy and we recieved news that  Alanna is in end stage liver disease &amp; needs a liver transplant. At this time Alanna is waiting to be put on the liver transplant list. I have always looked up to Alanna because despite feeling horrible and being in pain she contines to push herself to go to work, pay bills &amp; maintain a "normal" life even when she's suffering.  At this time Alanna has good days and bad days. She lives day to day with random fevers, problems with balance, coordination &amp; brain fog that includes not knowing what she's saying which can be a very scary experience. Alanna's Liver Transplant

With a heavy heart yesterday I lost my baby brother in a motorcycle accident. Brett was one of a kind, a beautiful man with so much love to give. Even with all of his struggles in life he managed to pull through and live the life he always wanted. He became the man he always wanted to be.  He loved life, loved his family, loved his friends, and loved riding motorcycles. Everything he did he did with all his heart and soul and made everyone so proud.  Anyone that knew him could not help but want to always be around him. He would do anything for anyone. I am so proud of him and I am so broken without him. I loved my brother more than anything , he was my best friend, he was everyone's best friend. My heart breaks as I write this and the tears won't stop flowing, but as much as I hate to ask for help my family needs help right now to help pay for the funeral and memorial costs. So if anyone out there can donate anything even a few dollars to help us get Brett back home and give him the farewell he desereves . <br /><br />Thank you from all of his family...<br />RIP lil bro
