Support for Baby Cayden Battling Leukemia No one could have ever imagined the heart-wrenching reality of childhood cancer, especially with the recent diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for Baby Cayden. These last few weeks, my 19-month-old nephew, a bright-eyed, cheerful baby boy from Upstate New York, suddenly stopped walking, which raised alarms for my sister and her family, leading them to consult their pediatrician. Within a week of images and some blood work later, their world has been turned upside down, learning that he's having pain in his bones from battling childhood cancer. My sister, a dedicated registered nurse at her local hospital, is a beacon of hope for her patients, offering comfort to families during their darkest hours. She truly embodies the spirit of a hero. Her and her husband could really use our support now. Baby Cayden is currently in the expert care of four Pediatric Oncologists in Vermont, who have begun chemotherapy treatment immediately. He has a port placed, had his first bone marrow biopsy and first lumbar puncture. I am launching this GoFundMe campaign to assist Baby Cayden, aiming to ease the financial burden of medical expenses and the time off work that his parents will face, as well as to help with the costs of traveling back and forth between New York and Vermont (including ferry rides) with his older brother, Philip, and for the outpatient chemotherapy that his parents will need to prepare for. He is admitted through January for his initial treatment journey, which spans four weeks, with plans to continue treatment over the next two to three years. While he fights this fight, he will remain in his parents' loving embrace. To witness him undergoing chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and platelet infusions is heartbreaking, and while he cannot voice his feelings, the strength that Baby Cayden possesses is indescribable. The strength that his parents are carrying are getting him through this unimaginable journey.
