Support Reggie Watts' Creative Independence

<div>Frances is almost 12 years old. We first started to notice something wrong when she was 3. She was diagnosed with speech and other developmental delays along with ADHD.
</div>
<div>What started as seemingly subtle delays and inattention eventually turned into tremor, drop seizures, and myoclonic jerking.
</div>
<div>Recent evaluations show she is half her age developmentally, and via genetic testing we recently received a definitive diagnosis.
</div>

<div>Frances has an extremely rare genetic mutation of DHDDS. She is 1 of 6 known cases in the world. While there was no hope for a cure a decade ago, medical science is now in the experimental phases of developing treatments for rare diseases.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, because this is so rare, it receives very little research funding. These types of diagnoses leave families isolated and overwhelmed with the gargantuan task of raising the funds that go to improving and hopefully saving the lives of the people they love. There is no insurance company to go through. There are no medications that exist.

<div>Due to the lack of data and people diagnosed with it, our only hope that has emerged so far is personalized medicine. We are yet to have confirmation that Frances is a viable candidate. Every day that goes by is a ticking clock. For the few people/kids diagnosed with DHDDS, desperately chasing researchers and scientists is a full time job. These treatments can take time to develop which can be a terrifying thought. They can also cost up to 5 million dollars.

<div>Frances has changed our lives with her compassion and strength. We want to continue to see her laughing, singing, dancing, telling stories and jokes, giving hugs, and being her magical social self. Help us alleviate her physical and mental challenges that cause her so much frustration, anguish and pain. She is approaching adolescence which for some with rare neurological disorders can be the beginning of decline.

<div>So far she already experiences seizures, hypotonia, ataxia, scoliosis, tremor, migraines, anxiety, frequent nausea and vomiting, photosensitivity, joint pain and muscle weakness. All a direct result of this disease. We live in fear daily that the worst is yet to come.

Watermelon Relief: Aid for Displaced Families in Gaza

<div>Hey everybody!  Nicole Chabot Ryan’s husband, J Ryan, here.  We're all sick of MS kicking Nicole's ass so we've decided to fight back!  <br /><br />If you haven't heard, we are setting up a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to help Nicole and others who suffer from autoimmune diseases like Multiple Sclerosis.  The name and further details will be revealed soon.  In the meantime, here's an update on Nicole...

<div>When the pandemic hit, Aaron and Sophia channeled their life savings into the Hidden Corner Cafe to provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ and POC communities in Bristol.

<div>They have since been the target of a campaign of abuse by landlords wishing to gentrify Bristol further.
</div>

<div>Despite paying the rent on time and being peaceful tenants, on 4 October Sophia arrived at the cafe to find the doors chained shut and an <strong>illegal eviction notice pinned to the door</strong>.
</div>

<div>Hundreds of pounds worth of stock is locked inside, along with some of Aaron and Sophia’s personal possessions.
</div>

Help illegally-evicted owners of much loved cafe

<p>Hi our names are Breda and Liz and we’re fund raising for Diane Langan-Kullman.
</p>
<p>Dearest family and friends: Due to an intracranial hemorrhage, our most beautiful and precious niece Diane Langan suddenly passed away at Peace Health, Vancouver, WA on Sunday, September 5th. Diane was an organ donor and the organ donation team is currently fulfilling her wish to give life.
</p>
<p>In 2018 Diane met the love of her life, Jayce. On July 31st (only 5 weeks ago) they were married in a beautiful ceremony where they exchanged vows of devotion, loyalty, commitment and most of all everlasting love for each other. The outdoor wedding was held at their property in Battle Ground where Diane and Jayce celebrated with family, friends and 27 of her New York friends. For the beautiful bride and handsome groom, the day was filled with music, dancing, and merriment.
</p>
<p>Diane is survived by her husband Jayce, Frances and Jimmy (James) Langan, sister Wendy (Josh), brother James (Missy), nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins in Ireland and the United States.
</p>
<p>Some of you have reached out and asked how you can help us during this time. Know that your kindness is much appreciated as we navigate this heartbreaking tragedy. Myself, my sons Ade and Atuanya Priester, and my granddaughter Amaya Priester, are writing to you to raise funds for the funeral and memorial service to mourn the death and celebrate the life of my wife Nashira Priester.  <br /><br /><br />Nashira had a remarkable spectrum of experience and talents that energized her life of activism, arts, jazz, movies, and intellectual prowess. Hailing from Queens, New York, and college-educated in the California Bay area she graduated from Mills College and attended UC Berkeley. Her time spent in the Bay included a spectrum of experience from involvement with the likes of the Black Panthers to parlaying with jazz music legends. Then we got married and relocated to Seattle where we settled nearly 40 years ago. <br /><br /><br />Nashira was a force, as everyone who knew her knows. She was a voracious reader with remarkable retention of information and attention to detail, with a keen sensibility that she could bring to any conversation. She worked as a set decorator in the movie business, she helped facilitate the African American Film Festival at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Theater, she was an active member of Freehold Theater, and she participated in multiple other projects related to her passion for black history, black heritage, and justice. She was a poet published in multiple anthologies and via her own book, Mystic Glyphs from Onyx Larynx. Nashira was a taxi driver, fluent in French, and at one time hosted a radio show. A poet friend who Nashira mentored in the Bay Area spoke of Nashira’s spirit when she heard Nashira had died: “We’ve lost a soldier in the arts world. She was a nurturer and jazz historian by default, supreme in all things and sincere in all ways.”<br /><br /><br />Nashira was not only a powerful mother for Adebayo and Atuanya and grandmother to Amaya, but she was also a prominent mother figure for many of their friends.  “Everything came from love,” Ade says, “her love was infinite, eternal, and just ridiculous.” She was my partner and my muse for 45 years.<br /><br /><br />Now we are asking you to assist us, as you can, through supporting the costs of laying Nashira’s body to rest, and a celebration of her life that will commence in the coming weeks (details to come).
